Stayed Nov 23, 2025This home had great spaces, kitchen was stocked and the VIEWS were wonderful. We found a plumbing issue in 1 bathroom upon arrival, called the emergency number (that our paperwork stated we would get a phonecall back in 15 mins) but didn't hear from anyone until the next day 11am. That was disappointing. The only other thing we thought needed attention was the lawncare (it was obviously they had not cleared it recently)- leaves needed to be blown-there were so many we could not see the driveway. We also had our 89-yr old mom with us which made it unsafe for her to walk. We would have done it ourselves if we had a blower! I actually used a broom to clear the decks and the front of the drive so it was safe to backup in the driveway. All that being said, we would still stay here again, as it was perfectly situated near Bridgewater Marina, La Casa Toscana (great dinner) and Ramulose Vineyards where we had a great experience sharing a charcuterie board and wine tasting. On the way out of town we found the first thing we will do next trip- Hawaii Fluid Art - a studio where you can make your own art!

Stayed May 8, 2025The home has so much space for lots of people. Lots of beds plus a very comfy futon! So wonderful to be on the lake! Great view with a wall of windows facing the lake! Also so nice to have the downstairs game room! Only thing that would hold me back from staying here again is that linens are not provided. That was a big hassle to bring our own sheets and make the beds after a long travel day. But still worth it to stay here bc of how spacious it is! stay in

Stayed Dec 18, 2021The Dogwood is an awesome house. It is filled up with whatever you want. Lots & lots of Toys for Kids, excellent Location, Best facilities and a sunny bright house. The best part of Dogwood was the VHS Cassette that for sure our generation Kids have never seen. I was excited to show to my kids that before CD we had this technology to seeing the video films and of course the VHS Player was also exciting thing for them ☺ The service from CB Rentals was also very very good. They were very nice to us. Due to Bad weather the day we arrived we couldn't explore the surroundings and requested for a late checkout and they were very supportive and helped with some additional time. Thank You so much!!

Stayed Jun 19, 2021We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean, nice layout, plenty of room for the family. We've spent most of the time at the dock swimming and fishing. House was located in a private lot, but still close to shopping and restaurants.

Stayed May 28, 2021The house is very nice and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay at this house. The only thing I would say that could be better is to provide trash cans for trash pick up. To try and pack everything in the vehicles along with the trash would have been impossible if we only brought one vehicle, but thank goodness we had two vehicles. Other than that everything was great.

Stayed Feb 12, 2021Description doesn’t list this, but you will need bring your own linens, hand soap, paper towels, etc. and we found this out only after we reserved. Also some locations managed by this CB Rental Company don’t have WiFi. Will yours? TBD! Instructions aren’t specific to your location. Also there isn’t trash service available so you have to take your own trash with you as you leave. You will be charged $10 per trash can if you leave it. Reached out that I was frustrated to have found this out AFTER booking the spot, and that that kind of information ought to be in the description so folks can compare apples to apples with prices...and the first response from Jessica with the CB Rental Company was “If you would like to cancel your reservation, you're welcome too.” She then proceeded to explain why they use linen rentals due to well water and septic tanks, and told me “I can understand that you're not used to vacationing in a rural area that does not provide those services” which I found presumptuous, condescending, and rude. Half of our party grew up in areas more rural than this with fewer people than Smith Mountain Lake and weren’t on wells and septic tanks, so no, that isn’t some universal truth my city slicker self just isn’t aware of. Plus our home was in a neighborhood with homes right next door and a 12 min drive to a grocery store. She then ended with offering again that we could cancel our reservation. We lost power while we were there. Obviously not the home or rental company’s fault, but we assumed when we reported it, they had noted which home we were in. Despite leading off our messages with which property we were at, she later said the next day, seeming frustrated with us, “Which house are you guys at? I have about 12 houses rented this weekend.” And when we tried to confirm a late check out, it took 3 tries and her sending a screenshotted email back to us, despite the original language being unclear—hence why I was reaching out to confirm. So that was frustrating. Property was fine besides the customer service attached with the rental company. Large windows in family room. View was nice. :)
