Tahoe Vista, California
*Tahoe is a beautiful and fun place to visit, but occasionally this area can be affected by extreme weather events. While we never want things like icy roads, road closures, or smoke from wildfires to negatively impact our guests, it can happen. We ask travelers to plan their vacation appropriately for the rural mountain climate and encourage guests to research all travel insurance options, as Tahoe Moon Properties cannot provide refunds for things outside of our control.
Dog-Friendly - Walk to Lake
Tahoe Vista Cabin is a cozy, comfortable 2 bedroom vacation rental in a quiet neighborhood close to Lake Tahoe. This dog-friendly property comes with a fully fenced yard and a lovely deck to enjoy the warmer months. During winter you are conveniently located halfway between Squaw/Alpine and Northstar Resorts. This home is a short distance to the Moon Dunes and Tahoe Vista Recreation Area's sandy beaches, walk to the beach and skip the traffic!
Important, this property does not have air conditioning. Air conditioners are extremely unusual in North Lake Tahoe.
This North Shore vacation home is clean, organized, and all furnishings and linens were purchased brand new for the home. The kitchen is well organized and equipped and has a lovely dining table near a bright window. The living room is comfortably set up and has a flat screen TV with Roku. The house has high-speed wireless internet and there is a desk in the living area if needed for any work although it is strongly discouraged. There is a bathroom downstairs with bath/shower and nice towels. There is also a washing machine and clothes dryer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms each with comfortable queen beds and quality linens. One of the bedrooms also has a twin futon. Beach chairs are provided for your use.
Tahoe Vista Cabin has level access and paved parking, with room to park a boat trailer. The yard is fully fenced and dogs are welcome. It is a two-minute drive to Safeway in Kings Beach. You can hike through the trees within minutes or snowshoe/cross-country ski at the local park. Northstar is a 10-minute drive, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows are approximately 20-minutes away.
This is a dog-friendly house but in order to bring a dog, you must pay a $100 dog fee per dog, 2 dog maximum. If you bring a dog without paying the dog fee, you will be subject to a fine and are in breach of contract which could result in being asked to leave the property.
Additional Fees include cleaning fee, administration fee, and local Transient Occupancy Tax. Check out time is 10 AM.

Great location & quite setting. Dog friendly, towels were plush & the kitchen was well stocked. Would definitely recommend & reconsider staying here again.
Loved the house and location. It was exactly what we needed, comfortable, ideal location for us and in very quiet neighborhood. Also, great communication with rental company. The only negatives are that the bathroom is downstairs for those that make trips in the night and there is a faint animal smell in the house for sensitive noses. Thanks so much and hope to return again soon.
Location of property was great with short walk to Moondunes and Tahoe Vista Rec Area Beaches. Safeway short 2 min drive. Overall home was pleasant with basic amenities, fine for a small family and to have standard meals. Only WARNING for guests, on our first night, a “young green” pine cone dropped for trees in designated driveway and smashed our back windshield and dented the top of our car, narrowly missing the front windshield. The first person who we spoke to at the property management office was less than helpful, rude and combative. When asking to speak to another person, she was very helpful and empathetic. We would caution others when parking as the management office did not offer reimbursement for damages and replacement of glass in Tahoe was quoted at more than a week out.
This place was just absolutely perfect! We rented this property for our honeymoon! It checked every box! Not only was it dog friendly, it also was the color scheme of our wedding! This place had everything you need! It was like being at the perfect home away from home! Plus it had dog beaches near by! I would recommend this place to anyone asking for a place to stay in tahoe area! Thank you for all the amenities! I used the heck out of the bbq! I love it. Perfect placement on the patio with a table to boot! - Joe & Eryn Miller.
If you want to walk to the beach, I’d head to moon dunes. It’s a 5 minute walk and you could easily bring you beach stuff with you. We actually walked back from the Tahoe Beach (across from Safeway) and it wasn’t terrible but I’d recommend moon dunes beach. Fans were a must to have in in July. We would very likely rent this same property again. It is pet friendly but I think the carpet needs to be shampooed more often. It was too sticky to go barefoot on. Management was pretty responsive to non-emergencies. Couple things to note: check the router for the name and password (bottom of tv console). Upstairs door to the balcony was super tricky to lock (pull handle ALL THE WAY UP and then turn lock). It takes a little bit of effort to get the handle turned upward before you can turn the lock to lock the door. Friend figured that one out. One window wouldn’t open but we let management know they could check it out after we left b/c the room had a great screen for the door and another window to open. Overall it’s a great little cabin for a girls trip of 3-4.
5 minute walk to beach, quiet neighborhood and great fenced in yard for our dog.
Our stay was perfect! The cabin was clean with plenty of amenities including dog bowls. It has a nice fenced backyard and a great neighborhood for walking
We were there to attend a wedding. This was exactly what we needed. We were able to grocery shop, prepare meals and rest comfortably. The location was ideal to of the activities we did. Hiking, walking distance to beach, close to restaurants and grocery store. Thank you.
This house is great for a couple or small family. It has a nice fenced yard for our dog. Comfortable beds. Walking distance to restaurants and the lake. The manager was very communicative with the issues we had (locked ourselves out). Thank you for a great stay.
Linens, carpets, kitchen all were not clean upon arrival. There were no clean spare sheets on the property, the dirty ones were in trash bags in the closet. After letting the property management know they sent someone to the property without letting us know. The cleaning company was there to pick up the dirty linens but did not offer new ones. Then after confronting the property management about them sending people over without letting me know, they never apologized, just offered to refund a portion of the cleaning fee.
My husband and I wanted a quick getaway with our dog in North Lake Tahoe! The place suited our pet needs because of the attached enclosed back yard. The place was fine! The only thing that would have made it easier for us would have been an upstairs half bath at least. We are seniors and having to go s downstairs at night was inconvenient. While the carpet was clean I would suggest engineered wood flooring (or something similar) to help with the traffic area spots! I would recommend the place…….
Overall 3 stars. Dog friendly & good back yard fully fenced. Pet stains on carpet everywhere, smell to the house. The beds are so uncomfortable we left a day early.
Cabin was perfect for the two of us. Loved the location, close to town but quiet neighborhood.
The house was perfect for our stay. We came for our son's baseball tournament & we were only 5 mins from the field. The location is perfect! Close to the lake & Safeway & lots of restaurants. When we arrived we realized the house didn't have enough bath towels. I called & they quickly brought us more towels. Check in and check out was easy! I would stay here again!
We definitely enjoyed staying in this pretty house well located In Tahoe! It was clean, bedding was confortable, the equipped kitchen accomodated all of our needs! This rental was our first for our family vacation with our baby and our dog. We appreciated the fenced yard. We felt home right from first day! We will certainly come back if we travel to Tahoe again!
