Summary:

The Cottage by the Sea

The Space:

This warm, inviting and recently renovated Rockaway Beach getaway sits on the west side of Highway 101, just across a quiet street from miles of sandy beach. Perfect for memorable family vacations, this three bedroom cottage is filled with cozy charm and nestled between a natural wetland pond and the ocean in the popular southern area of town. From the moment you first drive up, you'll be charmed by the beachy exterior and big front porch, complete with Adirondack chairs for sitting back and relaxing with a morning cup of coffee!

Once inside, there's ample coastal character, with ship replicas on the mantle, a white paneled ceiling, and seashells decorating the tables; but, you'll also find a touch of traditional style courtesy the oriental rugs and hardwood floors. There's a colorful brick wood fireplace so bring some wood with you, TV with streaming and a DVD player, comfy seating, and room for the whole family to spread out and watch a movie or find their own quiet place to curl up with a good book.

The full kitchen is well-stocked with all the appliances, pots and pans, dishes, cooking utensils, and dinnerware you need to serve a group of hungry beachcombers. Pick up some fresh seafood at the market and whip up a delicious fish dinner in no time! There's even a dishwasher for easy clean-up. The full-sized washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen and ready for your wet beach clothes after a day of exploring.

A formal dining room has ample seating for meals or there's plenty of space on the back deck to have an outdoor feast. Accessed through a glass door from the kitchen, the deck is outfitted with an outdoor table and patio umbrella for shade. After spending the day at the beach, fire up the gas grill and cook up some juicy burgers for a laid-back summer barbecue. And, after the kids have gone to bed, you can spend cool, clear evenings on the deck with a glass of wine.

This home has three bedrooms and one full bath, all located on one level. Two of the bedrooms contain trundle day beds, each with its own collection of colorful throw pillows. With flexibility in mind, these beds can convert into two twin-sized beds, perfect for two younger kids to share a room, or stay as a single twin bed for an older child. These rooms are decorated pleasingly for maximum comfort, with dressers, reading lamps, and soft bedding. The couch in the living room converts to a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed for extra sleeping options.

The third bedroom has a full-sized bed with a cozy comforter, bedside table, reading lamp, and a window that lets in lots of natural light. It has a vintage, vintage-chic feel that will have its occupants feeling soothed and contented in no time. With its three bedrooms, this cute little cottage will sleep everyone comfortably. It's also dog-friendly as well, so bring your furry family member along for some quality time playing in the surf for an additional fee.

While this cottage is definitely welcoming and very comfortable, one of the best features is its prime location. Right off the back patio and yard is a large, natural wetland pond with lily pads, aquatic plants, and other scenic features. A very relaxing afternoon can be had watching the kids play in the back or being on the lookout for great blue herons out in the pond.

With beach access right across the street, you are literally steps from miles of pristine sandy beach. Spend the day building sand castles, flying kites, looking for shells, or simply laying out under a big umbrella. The cottage is also located only a half mile north of one of the most recognizable views in Rockaway Beach: Twin Rocks. Be sure to bring your camera for some stunning sunset pictures starring this geologic feature.

Want a little change from all the peacefulness of your beach cottage Head about a mile north and hit the quaint downtown area for shops, restaurants, and galleries. Stock up on local saltwater taffy and handcrafted fudge at The Picnic Basket, or maybe start the day with a hearty homemade breakfast at the Whale Spout.

For a fun day trip, drive north up the coast stopping at Wheeler for a little antiquing, Manzanita for lunch at Bread and Ocean, then onto Cannon Beach for an afternoon of hiking in Ecola State Park or gallery-hopping along the picturesque downtown streets.

If you're ready to make some family vacation memories on the Oregon coast, come enjoy this cute and cozy Cottage by the Sea!

The rooms were small but so much charm. If you don't hear the ocean, you hear the frogs in the pond. The access to the beach was a blessing. Great value in this place.

Cute cozy little house in a great quiet location close to the beach. Kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, but being a pet friendly house the comforters on the beds should be cleaned after each visit. I found a nasty smelling dog spot on the main bedroom extra comforter on the foot of the bed. And the house is old so if staying in the winter it gets cold in the bedrooms due to no central heating, but they provide plenty of space heaters. Kitchen is well stocked and there are lots of games and books to entertain you. I love the added touch of the historical black and white photos of the house and its first owners. The only other downfall about this house is that it’s operated by Vacasa. They have less than desirable customer service and are the only company I know that only provides a “starter kit” of two rolls of toilet paper for your stay…the rest is up to you to provide. How hard is it to leave a couple extra rolls under the sink??
