Clean, had everything we needed it! ?
We enjoyed our long weekend stay in port A. We chose this home because of the bedroom on the first floor for an elderly parent which was nice because there are few rentals in port A that can accommodate this on first level. The home was fine for 5 adults. We didn’t have any issues with pests as in prior reviews so that was a plus. The grass in the neighborhood are full of sand burs so watch your paws. The handle to the storm door was broken but my brother had tools to repair it. My brother who is in construction industry was concerned about the subfloor on the first floor as it was soft and unlevel in some areas (perhaps rotten) but no smell of mold and mildew in the home, but definitely something the owners should invest in inspecting and fixing. Kitchen was fine. A better coffee pot and blender would be a suggestion for improvement. We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice. You must note that there is no walkable beach access from this neighborhood, you have to drive but beach access point isn’t far down the road. Overall a nice stay for a weekend getaway.
There is no walking beach access from this house. The roaches in the house were horrible.
When I booked this property, I was assured that I had beach access as I pulled my personal gold cart, no beach access, had to load cart drive 10 miles, find a beach access and unload cart. My grandson got stung by ants in his bed, large bottom bed with smaller bunk on top Only had 1 (one) dishwasher pod for 4 day stay mold in closets, and all over the outside doors and windows Ants all over back patio full of ants and could not sit out there with feet down without getting ants all over feet Also, patio furniture on upstairs balcony had 2 back legs rusted and broken, good thing I pulled it away from rail or I would have fallen out when the legs were not supported by railing I paid over $2,000 for 4 days, asked to be moved but no property available they said they would give me compensation for all the concerns. WE WILL SEE I WILL NEVER RENT THROUGH THIS MANAGEMENT IN FUTURE! THIS WAS MY YEARLY VACATION WITH MY 4 GRANDSONS VERY UPSET
The good: quiet place away from crowds. Nice, close to the pool. Spacious, and was clean. The bad: lacks weatherstripping on back door. Roaches were coming into house. Fire ants problem. They were living and coming out of microwave. No broom or anything to sweep or clean floors during stay. Bottom toilet needs new gasket. You can hear it leaking constantly. Smoke detectors in living room was take out and not replaced, just wires there. Slow drain in bottom bathroom sink. Bring your own dishwasher liquid if you’re staying longer than 2 days. AC makes humming and vibrating sound against wall of bedroom down stairs. The ugly: no beach access as stated. You have to drive a mile away. The Mayan Princess told us we had to be guest in order to access the beach by their property. They mention HOA, but the area is dirty with trash, pool needs to be better kept, It could have been a good stay, but this is so far the worst kept property I had stayed in the Corpus area so far, I’m Sad to say. I should have been offered a refund for all the troubles; and I have never left a negative comment. After sending pest control guy, no communication. Almost 2k for 6 days and not worth it.
Easy access to both Corpus and Port A
I’ve stayed in worse places, but not for the price of this house. As previous reviews have mentioned, this house has a pest problem. Ants, cockroaches, and who knows what else. Over six days, we had at least four major ant events, where hundreds of ants came pouring out of the light sockets, electrical outlets and base boards. We also killed a dozen cockroaches in that time. Not to mention the general slipshod quality of the house. However, what puts this house at the bottom of the list of places to stay is the absolute lack of any sort of customer service. A few days before we arrived, we wrote emails to Vacasa and called their customer service, asking if they could ensure that the ant problem had been dealt with. None of our written messages were responded to, and after the initial phone conversation with customer service (who promised to call us back), no one followed up. We received automated text messages on the first day (instructions on how to get into the house and a survey on its cleanliness) and last day of our stay (reminding us to check out), but there did not seem to be any interest in actually speaking with us. Fortunately, we came prepared with our own pest control supplies. And, we don’t mind (not much) keeping all of our food in air tight bags or in the refrigerator. We don’t mind Clorox wiping the entire kitchen every time we do anything at all in there. We don’t even mind killing the random few cockroaches every day. Pests happen. No one can totally control that. But general disregard for your customers is not acceptable. The house, in general, feels like a cheaply flipped house with some nice gadgets (e.g. Google Nest throughout). It has a pretty sheen on it, but there does not seem to be a concern to take care of it for the long haul, which is likely one of the reasons for the pest problem. For example, the handrail off the back porch is barely stable, the back door has a ½ inch gap between the base of the door and the threshold), the inside stairs give and flex underfoot (sometimes dangerously), there is water damage on the living room ceiling, there are pieces of old trash littering the perimeter of the house, and there is little concern for the landscaping. The community is not technically gated. It once had a gate, but the gate has been removed. The “pond” is nothing more than a brown puddle, that has the makings of a swamp. And, the two-car carport works only if you happen to be driving two compacts. Avoid if you can.
We enjoyed the house. It was comfortable for 9 people. I will say there were a couple of things that would help. There is no broom or means to clean the floors. This is at the beach and the sand is everywhere. I would have loved to have been able to sweep that up. The back door has a terrible gap at the bottom and could let in many different bugs, animals etc. There were no instructions on the tv and what service you provide. I found that very frustrating. I realize ants are hard to control but my granddaughter and myself had several fire ant bites while we were in the home. You could see the ants coming through the cracks in the floors in the family room.
Just a little paradise…. Back porch opens up to a little lake, cattails and beautiful birds. Nice pool. Close to beach and Port A. Everything our family needed for a wonderful vacation.
When we booked this property we noticed it only had one review, but we figured we had stayed at properties managed by Vacasa before and always had a good experience, and so assumed this would be good too. Well you know what they say about assuming things... Almost immediately on arrival we saw swarms (yes, swarms) of ants around the baseboards and at a window or 2. These were ants with wings that bit and left welts. Then later we realized there were a different kind of ants in the kitchen. We couldn't leave any food out on the counter or the ants would be all over it (we even found them in a closed jar of peanut butter!). All the food had to be kept in the refrigerator so it wasn't overrun with ants and the kitchen had to be kept spotless which was stressful while on vacation. The next day we called the property manager who sent out an exterminator right away, but it takes a few days for all that to work so we still dealt with live ants for the rest of our stay plus now the added benefit of piles of dead ants. (Yes, piles. We bought a broom and dustpan to sweep them up because it was so gross). It was good the manager was able to get an exterminator out that day, but I can't help but feel like if they had walked through the property before we checked in they would have noticed the literal swarms of ants. It must have been empty awhile before we got there.... Other than the ants.... It was clean, but a little run down looking. The couches were a bit ripped up, the kitchen faucet was coming apart, the washing machine was full of sand even after running it, things like that. There was a lot of construction in the neighborhood, like the description mentioned, but thankfully it was not very disruptive. The community pool was nice. The layout of the house was nice, originally my mom was going to come with us, so having a bedroom downstairs would have been perfect for her. Overall the house was disappointing and not up to the usual Vacasa standards.
Over all the house was great. Specious , quiet community. However there was an ant problem, all over the kitchen counters coming out of an outlet. We couldn’t leave any food out. Even unopened food was not safe. Then we were visited by roaches.. yup big ones too.
The house was dirty and not in very good shape. I thought the house would be nice considering the amount of money we paid ($1600). It was not, looked like it was falling apart. The balcony in the front was warped and falling off...I am not sure how this was inspected but it should definitely be looked at.
