Make your next group getaway one to remember at this waterfront lodge on the banks of Hackett Creek. It's an incredible space for a reunion, a holiday, or a trip with multiple families, offering a private hot tub, a deck among the evergreens, and a converted garage rec room.
Natural wood and light are constants throughout the house, which is spread out across two levels. There are many spots to sit down and relax after a day spent hiking or skiing, including a sectional sofa warmed by an electric wood stove in the living room and plush couches in the dedicated media room. The gourmet kitchen is a natural gathering space as well, offering stainless steel appliances, two ovens, an island with a gas range and bar seats for three, and a window-lined dining area with both a circular table and an expansive farm table with views of the surrounding woods.
The outdoor spaces are equally special, including a deck that was built around the trunks of several towering fir trees. You can bring your meals outside to the deck or to the picnic tables at the creek's edge before capping the evening with a soak in the hot tub and stories around the firepit.
There's no shortage of entertainment in the converted garage rec room - an indoor/outdoor space where you can play Ping-Pong, foosball, cornhole, and basketball while projecting a favorite movie on the wall.
At night, you'll find one bedroom on the first floor and the other five bedrooms upstairs. The home has three main suites upstairs, with two private baths and one dual-access bath. Additional amenities include free WiFi throughout the house, two washers/dryers for your laundry needs, and a newly added treadmill to help you stick to your workout routine.
This charming house sits on nearly 12 acres in a quiet, park-like setting next to Hackett Creek. You'll be right at the edge of Mt. Hood National Forest and six miles west of the heart of Rhododendron. If you follow Mt. Hood Highway, you can easily reach the mountain's hiking trails and ski resorts, with Mt. Hood Skibowl 15 miles east, Timberline Lodge 21 miles east, and Mt. Hood Meadows 26 miles east.

The house and all the surrounding were so beautiful and peaceful. We absolutely loved our stay. The water could have been hotter in the kitchen and bathrooms. Showers were only warm. Other than that our stay was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us. Loved the Christmas tree. It was perfect for us as we celebrated our family Christmas.
Had 12 people for a long weekend—wonderful place. Tons of space, tons to do. Easy checkout which is much appreciated and surprisingly rare. Minor complaints—very minor, so consider these to be tips more than real issues—the kitchen has plenty but some very odd omissions. There were no large pots, for instance, which isn’t great in a house that can fit a lot of people. A couple of really big cheap stockpots for pasta or whatever would help. Don’t get me wrong. Loved the house and would happily repeat. Probably will.
Overall great property, huge outdoor space, plenty of amenities. Only small negative is the floor plan and the location of bedrooms and bathrooms. But overall had a wonderful stay.
We had a great family gathering. The house is well-equipped in the kitchen and the fun room provides activities for all ages. The deck and creek area expands on the room of the place. Note, the 6th bedroom is hidden is the dinosaur cave.
Everything was as listed!!! Beautiful atmosphere both outside and inside. Perfect place for a weekend gathering with plenty of entertainment for all ages.
This property is very unique but has plenty of space for everyone to spread out and plenty of things to do. I have booked this place twice. My favorite spot on the mountain.
Lots of space for everyone and recreational games like pool, football, ping pong, etc. Beds are very comfortable and the wi-fi is totally sufficient. Quiet, scenic location.
Loved the space and location. Everything it claimed it would be. Be aware that water pressure can be a problem so manage shower time with all your guests. The party barn can be cold during the winter since there is only one small wood stove. Wood is provided. Also be aware that even though there are 16 beds, they only allow 15 guests. It isn't clear before booking and only about a week b4 your stay will you get a guest rules email that states no more than 15 guests at any given time including non overnight guests and max capacity on cars is 6. If you are planning a family reunion and have more than 15 people coming, they (Vacasa) threaten to evict you and your guests. The home is beautiful and spacious and the party barn is an amazing benefit. It was everything we imagined it would be and given we know the rules, would stay again, we just think they should be more forthcoming with the rules and perhaps be a little flexible. But that's their prerogative.
Property is great with all the amenities but unfortunately with 15 people none of us could take a shower as the water pressure was non-existent. Perhaps the listing should inform guests that the water pressure for all the showers does not really work. The pressure kept going from a stream down to a trickle which made it unable to properly get clean. I would have given a better rating but showers are very important to 15 people who go up snowboarding all day and just want to come to the cabin and relax with a hot shower
What a wonderful home!! So spacious, perfect for groups, excellent location for skiing at Timberline. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of communication. We had one question before our trip and a couple of issues during our stay, and I never got a response to any of our messages other than an auto-generated email from Vacasa saying they were busier than normal and would reply when able. If you’re willing to roll the dice on communication, this house is AMAZING. One of the best large houses we’ve ever rented.
We have stayed at Basecamp multiple times and each time we leave, we wish we had more time there. There are so many fun things to do onsite and around the mountain. We’ve stayed in every season and there are benefits to to every time of year. The owners have really thought of everything and we can’t think of any suggestions to make our stays better. This is a favorite retreat for us as it’s only just over an hour from NW portland and we already have our next stay booked!
The beautiful setting Beds for everyone Plenty of space Fun party room
This place is perfect for the family get together for a peaceful, fun filled, activity packed stay. The activity shop with pool table, ping pong and projector screen TV, kept the kids active from sun up to sun down, while the parents can relax on the peaceful back deck. It is a short drive to the lake for beautiful sight seeing hike. Had a Great Time!
Clean, comfortable and cozy. Exactly what we needed for our Leadership retreat. So many amenities, we couldn't get to it all. Will definitely book again.
Basecamp was outstanding for our family reunion. Plenty of room for a variety of activities- small and large group. Enough comfy beds for 14 of us. The game room was a real winner . Again, a large variety of activities in there. The only problem was communication with the property manager while we we there. However, communication prior to our arrival was fine.
We enjoyed our time at basecamp. Plenty of room for 8 adults and 6 littles. The bonus game barn was a big hit.
We had an amazing time exploring the Mt. Hood area, and this house was indeed the perfect “BaseCamp”. It is truly well set up for big groups with plenty of room for 15 of us to eat together, plenty of dishes and a kitchen that allowed us to make all of our meals together. The outside deck nestled in the trees was to die for. The teens loved the hot tub and the fire pit and we all really enjoyed all the games in the gaming garage. The only challenge for us was that we were traveling with our 92 year old mother. I had made the assumption that it would be easy for her with a bedroom on the main living floor. Unfortunately this bedroom is a long way from a bathroom and there are multiple single and double steps on the main floor, between the various living spaces. This was entirely my fault as I never asked how accessible the house is. I just thought I would mention it for other mobility-limited folks. Lastly, many of the beds were quite hard. I generally prefer a firm bed, but this was a bit beyond that. A cheap and easy solution for future guests would be memory foam toppers. Still, the place was worth it as it suited us so very well. Highly recommend.
Very clean, lovely setting. If you are looking for a weekend full of fun activities on the mountain, I couldn’t recommend a better spot.
