Beach, Please

The Space:

Enjoy close proximity to shops, restaurants, and the soft sand of Rockaway Beach in tranquil surroundings at this sweet cottage just outside downtown. This two-level home is a cheerful respite, allowing you to soak up the sun on the beach each morning and leave the crowds behind you at the end of the day.

The first-floor living space, which brings together the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen, is linedwith windows that bring in views of the surrounding countryside. There's a dedicated laundry room down the hall, where you can leave the day's swimsuits and towels, and a flatscreen TV (equipped with cable and Netflix) to help you unwind in the living room. The open kitchen features a large Whirlpool refrigerator, a dishwasher, and other essential appliances, as well as ample space to dine at the four-person breakfast bar and the dining room table just beyond. Each evening, you can bring your coffee outside to the front porch before soaking in the private hot tub or gathering around the outdoor firepit for s'mores and stories of the day's adventures.

This home offers something unique when it comes to location: there is a delightful creek that runs through the property, offering guests the ultimate peaceful experience. There you can discover a 100-year-old shipwreck if the sand levels get low enough. This retreat also sits half a mile east of the heart of downtown Rockaway Beach, where all sorts of casual eateries, sweet shops, and recreational outfitters line the Oregon Coast Highway. There's a public access point to (and a parking lot for) the beautiful ocean beach only three-quarters of a mile west. This area of the Northern Oregon Coast is ripe for day trips as well, with Oswald West State Park 14 miles north, Tillamook 15 miles south, and the Three Capes Scenic Loop just beyond.

The hosts made sure that the home was comfortable and included all the little things that make life simpler as a renter: extra towels, pillows and blankets, a well stocked kitchen, even a brand new in-package sponge so we could clean our dishes without needing to rely on a sponge of questionable safety. In sum, this was the kind of experience I wish we always had when renting a place.

When we first pulled in, it was wonderful having plenty of space for three vehicles. And the deer outside was also a win. Entering the home was very easy. Loved the ambience of the fireplace. Floors definitely are very cold so having the area rugs was a plus. Lighting in kitchen was so so just because we are all 50 and hard to see the game boards, unfortunately the hot tub was not plugged in and we did take photos so when we were suited up and ready to jump in, it was 64 contacted through text message. It was almost like it was just serviced. Because the disconnect was put in backwards so I did not get to enjoy the part that we were all looking forward to the most. And truly the reason we picked the house in the first place. They told us it would heat up in 30 minutes and it did not but this morning just in time to leave, it was out 103 the rooms were wonderful very cozy comfortable While we cooked meals at the house. The only thing we were missing is a glass measuring cup that would do maybe 4 cups of something and or a one cup measuring cup. Otherwise, it was absolutely fantastic.

The house was very clean and well-appointed. Nowhere to hang coats or bags, not a biggie, but since it rained while we were there, that would have been nice. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The front porch isn't very user friendly- could do without the janky rusted bench seat and more of the chairs. It's really narrow. The firepit and hot tub were great- the hot tub was pristine. The local staff was very responsive when there was an issue with the dishwasher. We also think that 10:00 am is too early for check out- at least do what hotels do and give until 11:00 or noon. This is an issue with most properties I have rented on VRBO. You get nickel-and-dimed with exorbitant fees and then have to leave early. It's ridiculous, and not specific to this property. This is a nice property, very quiet and close to all the fun places that Rockaway has to offer. I would recommend staying here!

The perfect site for our family vacation of 5 adults. All had their own private room (2 sets of couples) as well as 2 full bathrooms available for use, the home was clean and cozy with every amenity imaginable. The hot tub and firepit were delightful and put to good use. Communication for check-in and check-out was efficient. Convenient driving distance to numerous attractions in the area. Was very happy with this choice!

Just being able to walk to the beach in no time was the highlight for us. Spacious home with amazing backyard and amenities that make accidentally forgetting something, not so bad. They have it all.

Perfect spot to base our travels from! Rockaway is the right size - big enough to have a spot for groceries and a few restaurants, shops and a beautiful beach but never felt too busy/crowded or had much traffic. We are glad we chose Rockaway over Seaside/Cannon Beach. The house was just prefect for our small family (two adults not in a relationship and one pre-teen), lots of space and privacy. There is no noise from neighbors in the hills but are really close to town, you feel quite secluded but it is easy to get to the main highway. Loved the hot tub and playing the Oregon Trail game in the evenings, 10 minute walk to the beach. Bonus - a beautiful babbling brook is behind the property along with many birds, bats and deer. Comfortable, clean and just as advertised, Would definitely book again!

It's a nice little house not far from the beach in a quit neighborhood. Very clean. Upstairs bathroom outlets don't work. Weeds are a bit out of control. But otherwise a cute and comfortable place to stay.

We loved our long weekend here! It's very private with only neighbors across the street. Love the stream running nearby too! Home is cozy, comfortable, and well stocked! It was clean and very cute! The hot tub on misty evenings was wonderful! Doesn't take long to walk to the beach either. Would happily stay again!
