The Neighborhood:
Oceanside
The house was beautiful and modern. Large enough for multiple people and welcoming for dogs. Very well stocked with dishes and cooking equipment, but also short drive to many restaurants, ice cream places, etc. Nice large backyard for kids to play, equipped with table for 4 and a propane grill. Near many ocean and bay beaches. Our 2nd stay with Del Mar, and they are VERY responsive if any maintenance needs to be done (we had one small issue-- 1 shower door jammed. Fixed in a day). The only negative is it was very expensive-- not something we could do often.
Beautiful house. Thank you.
Delmar was great, very receptive , our AC was not working and they replaced both AC's by the next day Pros Kitchen well stocked, dishes, pans, dish soap & hand soap provided Game room, pool table & dart board- you will need to bring your own darts Mattresses were good, not great House was clean, we did not have a problem with any bugs Cons Couch & love seat very stained, I brought light blankets with me and used to cover them Rugs & throw pillows could use a cleaning Ping pong table unusable The pictures used for property should be updated to current time
For the most part our stay was good. However the window a/c units varied and all different. In the dining room the temp button doesn’t budge. In the bedroom with two beds the a/c was so loud I couldn’t sleep and had to move into another room. There was no laundry detergent at all. Even a small amount would have been helpful for people who have just traveled up. Supplies were thin: hardly any containers w lids, no foil or plastic bags and not very many silverware items. It is hard to bring up stuff like that, so a bit more supplies would really be appreciated. There was only a small liquid hand soap in each bathroom so that had to be used in the shower as well. A couple bars of soap or tiny bath gel would have been very welcome as well. But overall we enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a wonderful time at this home where four adults and three children over the age three stayed. The location is optimal, close to all Eastman beaches and the Cape Cod National Sea Shore. It’s also a very convenient distance to a host of restaurants and activities. The game room in the basement can use some freshening up as we did not use the ping pong table, pool table, or darts once. The home is the right amount of space with a good kitchen and dining room set up which flows into the living room. The outdoor shower was a very nice addition, as well. The check in and check out process couldn’t have been easier.
The pros: Great proximity to rail trail. Nice backyard for kids. Kitchen well-stocked with appliances and tools. Kitchen and baths very clean upon arrival. Living room sofas are comfortable. Del Mar staff were all courteous and professional. The cons: FOUR dead mice in game room/basement. Lots of bugs, spiders, earwigs, inside the home. Musty smell throughout. Transfer station across the street smells and is loud (breaking glass). Ping-pong table too warped to play. Mattress either is very old or very cheap and was uncomfortable and needs replacing. Wall to wall carpeting feels damp and sticky underfoot. TV is too small for the living space (this is a very cheap upgrade). AC unit didn’t work and needs replacing. Workman showed up unannounced (delmar staff said she didn’t know he was coming) and banged very loudly on roof. This was our fifth VRBO rental, the most expensive of all, and the only bad experience we’ve had. We chose it because of the location and the ability to bring our dog and knew from pictures it was a home that needed updates but what we experienced was just so disappointing.
We stayed only 3 nights and the location was central and easy to get to. There’s a trail nearby for walking/biking. Comfortable beds and plenty of space to hang out. Issues were that the windows ac units had large gaps to the outdoors and there were lots of insects and spiders coming in all the rooms and small ants crawling around the kitchen sink. I tried to plug up the gaps with crumpled up paper towels and that helped a bit. Basement area is fun for rainy days with a pool table, but the ping pong table was warped and there were no darts for the dart board. The Cape is meant for outdoors and beach so that’s not such a big deal. Driveway roomy enough for 3 vehicles. We used portal to notify DelMar of issues but didn’t get email response till the following day. Would have been nice to get an immediate response. We are not big TV watchers but the tv was on the small side. Overall comfortable living quarters.
This property was in a great location for everything we wanted to do while on the Cape. We really enjoyed the outdoor space in the back yard/deck area. The house offered plenty of space for our party of 5 and was pet friendly. I would have loved to rate this place higher, but there were some cleanliness and general maintenance issues that need to be addressed. In addition, the game room area in the basement was not as we had hoped.
Great spot and very clean
This house was so comfortable and perfectly located. We loved having the ability to bring our dog with us so he could also experience the Cape. Communications with the host were helpful and immediate. Highly recommend!!
