Stayed Jul 19, 2025Twin Dunes is a lovely beach house! It had everything we needed and the owners have responded to concerns from previous reviews. The washing machine and sofa seem new. The sliding doors between the two main bedrooms that share a bathroom were a little tricky, but will close properly if done “just so”. The main rooms only have sheer curtains and could use some blinds for privacy. Otherwise we had no complaints and truly enjoyed our stay! We were two couples with two teens and it was a nice size for us. We also appreciated the easy beach access and the hot tub with a view. Thanks for the attention to detail!

Stayed Jul 12, 2025We really enjoyed our stay at Twin Dunes! It had everything you could possibly need with easy access to the beach, grocery store, and restaurants. The sand spurs and cactuses are something to watch out for especially with pets.

Stayed Jun 14, 2025House/kitchen is wonderfully stocked. We cooked in every night and the house had everything we needed! All the cookwear is non-stick so if you want to use stainless you will have to bring that. Bring dish towels to use (my mother in law had the brilliant idea of bringing Christmas ones so we always know which are ours). Beds are comfortable! The two queen rooms have east facing windows so if light is bothersome to anyone I recommend bringing black out curtains. Porches are wonderful to hear the waves and see the water. House is on a cul-de-sac so no neighbors directly on either side, feels very private! Love this house and can't wait to come back next year!

Stayed May 24, 2025Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Twin Dunes is a gem. There were plenty of kitchen items -even a crockpot! Lots of furniture throughout the house (couch could use an update and some dining chairs need repairs) but we were impressed with the cleanliness and overall how the home was furnished. The beds were comfortable. I am picky about my pillows and I found the pillows lacking but that was probably just me. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 (5 adults & 2 kiddos / 4 & 6) the view of the ocean is great from the deck and hot tub. The walk to the beach took maybe 4 minutes tops, the boardwalk path is literally across from the driveway. The dune you must navigate to get down to the beach is treacherous for anyone with mobility issues. This was my biggest complaint…not Vacasa or the homes fault.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The home was perfect for our family of 4, but could have slept 3+ more easily. The views of the ocean from the top deck were great. Been staying at OBX most of my life and have been to many different home, this was the first one without a pool, we went late in the year so the the cute, clean, cozy set up with a hot tube was perfect for the chilly nights. The hot tub gave us some issues the first few nights with not staying hot enough, the temp kept dropping even with the settings set correctly. We contacted Vacasa and they said they would send someone out but unfortunately they didn’t come until the day we checked out. Thankfully though- with some fiddling with it, and leaving the cover on for 24 hours we got it up to our desired temp. The lights in the hot tub didn’t work but that wasn’t a huge concern of ours. The kitchen was well equipped, bed were comfortable, the only thing I would say I’d change in the home is the front loading washer. Very full of mold around the rubber pieces which is common for that kind of HE loader, also clothes came out musty often, not to mention, with no agitator, they barely get clothes clean. I attempted to clean it and leave door open to help with must smell. The volleyball net downstairs was a nice touch, charcoal grill with sitting area under the house, lots of board games in the living room, lots of beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. We clean and mop every day on our stays so hopefully that made it easier on the cleaning staff. This was a beautiful home, close walk to the beach, would definitely stay again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This house was, by far, the best equipped house we have ever stayed in after decades of going to the Outer Banks! Coffee maker, plus Keurig coffee maker plus beach chairs, outdoor hose, foot spigot, enclosed hot shower, badminton style net, basketball backboard, basketball, soccer balls, TV, Internet, washer, dryer, dishwasher, quality can opener, etc. But… back doors don’t lock easily (or at all), only thin curtains on several windows most of which face other houses. The sliding door on a shared bathroom does not close all the way without extreme effort (if at all). The dumb waiter only goes to the first floor (and started making a lot of noise on our last day, but I assume that will be repaired). The Internet also stopped working, but I presume that is an electrical issue related to the storm and I assume will be repaired. If all the beds were occupied, the place would feel very cramped. Good view of the ocean, very close crossover to the water. Overall, excellent except for the privacy concerns.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969From the amenities, to the location it could not be beat. We have stayed in the OBX many times and mostly with the former Hatteras Realty and now Vacasa. The home was just as described. It was perfect for our group and I think 2 couples with multiple children would find this a perfect fit. This home is dog friendly but you’d never know it is. There was no hint of animals in this property so if you are not bringing your dog, you’ll enjoy this home!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Twin Dunes provided us a nice vacation. The couches and beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was clean. The location is great with a beach access nearby. The luggage elevator was very nice to have for unpacking and packing. We have already booked another stay at this house!

Stayed Oct 23, 2023This was our first time staying in Avon. Have been booking this week for awhile in various places. The house is in an outstanding location; not ocean front but fabulous views and just steps away from beach access. Was so happy to find an affordable house that is pet friendly. We rescued a sweet little hound in the Spring that is afraid of everything that by weeks end came away a different little guy. So happy he was able to meet and greet other dogs and people. Communication with VRBO/VACASA was so easy and timely. We received notice in the afternoon that we could check in early. So appreciated. Communication prior to our visit and while we were there was again timely and much appreciated. The lift outside was a delightful surprise given the number of steps accessing the house. We found the house delightfully clean and equipped with everything we needed including a starter supply of paper products, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. There is a deck outside of the first floor where bedrooms are located and someone had left cigarette butts in an ashtray. Not so pleasant but we took care of it. Only other thing we found was cracks in ice cube trays in the freezer; again, no big deal. We did not use the hot tub but having the option was great. The weather was terrific! Highly recommend!!
