Dock & Grand Lake Access! Idyllic Afton Getaway

My high school friends and I rented this place for the weekend and had a wonderful time. We sat on the deck and drank coffee with a little fire in the chiminea while looking at the lake. We swam. We took the paddle boat out. We fished off the dock. We went horseback riding in the area and explored local spots. We grilled salmon and veggies on the grill at the house. We watched movies and ate popcorn and made memories. The house was perfect and had all the necessities for a smooth and relaxing stay.

We completely enjoyed our stay. The view is wonderful, the house is well supplied with all one needs, everything was very comfortable & easy access to the dock was great. The location is near everything you need & to enjoyable water. Our grandson participated in jet ski races at Berniece St Park which was close by. A good perk! We anticipated the deer coming around everyday. We hope to return next year as well.

House was exactly what we wanted!

Property had few quirks but was very well kept and managed. It was perfect for our stay with extended family. Availability of a pontoon was a real bonus

We rented this house to be close to family also renting the next door property. The house was super clean and had all the amenities you could need. The dock was easily accessible right across the street and we were so comfortable in this home. Matt was super great to work with and we will definitely be back!!

We have stayed here 2 years in a row, a week each time, and loved every minute. Great neighborhood, EASY and fast lake access. The lake cove is peaceful and not too long or small. It’s close to good food and a gas station or DG if you need something on the fly, and minutes from Duck Creek. We loved hanging out on the dock and having the boat at our disposal is a GREAT perk! We took the boat just outside the cove for the Duck Creek fireworks.

Especially enjoyed the convenience of the dock for fishing and the pontoon rental. Great to have the boat right there whenever we wanted it. Kids enjoyed the paddle boat and kayak. Owner was very accessible and responded to needs very quickly. While the house is very nice, it was built at a time when doorways were narrow. One in our family needed a walker and some areas were more difficult to maneuver but the main area and master was roomy enough. Well stocked kitchen. Outdoor dining also nice. Overall we had a great time and would certainly consider a return trip.

We had plenty of room for 10 of us. Our teens and college kids loved the little bunk bed area and we didn’t even use the extra bedroom. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use any of the lake access because we were in town for a funeral. It looked amazing and we will definitely try to make it back. Plenty of hot water and space to get 10 people ready in the morning. The Johnson family was very kind and gave us a beautiful peace lily and card. It’s nice touches like that to remind you it’s someone’s home not a hotel, which is what we loved. The Drunken Rooster around the corner had a nice place for the kids to play volleyball while we waited for food and hung out.

House was great- exactly as listed. Would absolutely book again.

The house was perfect for 6 adults and 4 children. Everyone had their own bedroom and the living area allowed us all to cook and eat together comfortably. The kids enjoyed the dock and playing in the yard.

Loved it all

Hosts were easy to be in touch with. Place had plenty of parking and beds for our fantasy football group. Plenty of amenities within a 15 minute drive. Our group how close the house was to the coves golf course for morning tee times. Only complaint was boat slip in dock was not wide enough for our boat so we had to tie to the outside of the dock. Our boat has a 10’ beam and the slip would accommodate boats with 8’ beams. We had no issues with the jet ski hydraport.Overall our group enjoyed our stay and plan to come back to the area again for our annual get together.

My family absolutely loved the stay at this house. It was everything we wanted. Everything was perfect. The owner was very easy to get ahold of and take care of anything we needed. We also rented the boat and it was also perfect. We will definitely rent again in the future.

This place was big enough for 4 couples. Host was fantastic and place was clean. Perfect for our group

Friend group stayed here and we had a great time! Only comment is that the dishwasher didn’t work when we were there.

Great property - very clean and well-stocked kitchen for our large family. TV and game nook next to dining area was great for the two toddlers. Living room is a little small but we spent most of the time outdoors on the large front porch or down at the dock that is right down the hill in front of the house. Perfect cove for swimming off the dock and space for.some to hang out on the dock while other swam. Very cozy place!

We loved it at The Cottage. Plenty of room for our family of 10. There was not a single issue that came up while we stayed. Great amenities in the kitchen from lots of spices and dishes to an air fryer. The access to the house and dock was easy for the 70 y/o+ grandparents too. We loved having the boat anytime we wanted and the dock was great to hang out and swim at. The local neighbors were welcoming and very nice. Absolutely loved our time there.

We had such a wonderful stay in this house! The location was fantastic, we loved the lake, the dock was wonderful. We have stayed in some houses with dicey walks down to the lake, but this is a very nice easy walk to the dock. The owner reached out a few weeks prior in case I had any questions. Communication was great! I thought very highly of that and really appreciated being able to communicate directly with the owner while I was there should I need anything. Beds were comfortable. House seemed very clean. It was also well stocked with some basic seasonings and a generous supply of paper products. This is our family's 4th annual 3 generation lake trip and this house/location/lot/dock has been our favorite!!
