Our group of 11, ranging in age from 12 to 82, was very satisfied with the facility, the amenities, and the responsiveness of the owner to our inquiries. We used one canoe and the 6 kayaks often to travel to Lake MI and to visit the adjacent marsh (it was possible to kayak under the HWY 22 bridge from Arcadia Lake to the marsh) where we saw and heard lots of birds including trumpeter swan families, sand hill cranes and many other bird species. The spectrum of sounds of animals and birds at night from the marsh was an unexpected bonus as was our visit to a local artist who was exhibiting his art in his garage right on HWY 22. We used both beaches, the one S of the channel (more secluded) and the one N of the channel and found them both to be excellent. The home is very spacious and the kitchen is very well equipped. We ate there most often but also used the open-air restaurants across the road for some meals. One night we used the fire pit to roast marshmallows using the provided firewood, a nice amenity. We also went fishing in Arcadia Lake with little luck (caught a few perch) but sighted a Bald Eagle family in the trees in the lake near the house. We also used the site as a base for day trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. Overall, we had a great experience.
