De Tour Village, Michigan
Adorable little cottage near Lake Huron, with views of St. Marys River and Lake Huron.
We think "Mayberry Cottage", is perfect and hope you will too.
What it's lacking in modern aesthetics, it makes up for in charm. From the banging
front screen door, to the people watching from the front porch and listening to the church bells chime. There are views of freighters passing by right outside the windows.
This will be a relaxing and tranquil oasis for you.
It's a slower pace , there is no "wi fi" but there are cards to play , movies to watch and books to read. Along with board games and puzzles.
We are located smack dab in the middle of the cute as can be village of Detour. Walk to the market, visit one of the restaurants or bars or launch your boat right across the street. If it's Jeeping you love, the Drummond Island ferry is right around the corner . I've heard the fishing is amazing , as are the beautiful beaches just a short drive away .
Bike around the village, walk to the botanical gardens or walk down to the ferry dock to see the car ferry and freighter watch. Rent a boat slip at the beautiful marina and check out the many islands , just a short boat ride away. Or listen to live music at the marina park on most weekends .
Detour Village is a gem we discovered three years ago and want to share it with others .
All that being said, our cottage is just that. It's clean and neat and oh so adorable but it is not a condo. please remember that when renting. It has a beautiful glassed in front porch where you can enjoy your morning coffee. freighters are often seen right outside the windows and sand cranes wander across the road.
If you visit I bet you will want to return . Mayberry Cottage sleeps 7 comfortably. There is a sleeping loft upstairs with three twin beds, a full bed downstairs and a pull out sofa bed in living room.
Fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, electric stove and keruig coffee pot . Towels and linens are included.
One bath, no Smoking, small dogs allowed.

Cozy. Bright and cheery, nice decor, very relaxing. Comfortable beds, kitchen and bathrooms stocked with more than you could ever expect. Local population very friendly, welcoming, and forthcoming with information. Negatives- Upstairs very warm for 60 degree weather. Could benefit from a ceiling fan. No stairwell lighting. Television antenna needs some work. We had a very nice few days, and would do it again.
Perfect location for exploring the Eastern UP. It was a home away from home.
The property was bright and cheery, well stocked, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, due to an emergency, we were only in the cottage for a couple of hours before we had to leave. The host was very understanding and immediately gave us a full refund. I would highly recommend this vacation home.
We had a fabulous time yet again! We love the location, and everything about this place. The ferry is walking distance to the cottage, all the amenities too! We had such a blast!
We had a wonderful stay. Very cute cottage, well stocked with everything you would need. If you are planning to visit Drummond Island, it's just a short walk to the ferry. Would definitely recommend and hopefully return for another visit.
Very sweet cottage with all the comforts of home- including nice linen and towels and good beds. Very relaxing weekend- thank you for your hospitality! MaryKay
We love it so much, cozy, dog friendly beaches and surrounding areas. We will be back.
We loved our stay. Everything was perfect. The house was decorated beautifully. Nothing was left out. The bed very comfortable. Thank you for offering a pleasant home away from home.
So cute.
Comfortable cottage with lots of charm. Most importantly, comfortable beds! Wonderful view of the water.
We very much enjoyed our stay here! Everything we could have possibly needed was there for us, plus some! Everything was very clean and beautiful! We loved the location and views!
