The house was better than even the pictures showed! Very well stocked and was also clear they keep updating the property - new deck and what seemed like carpet. My toddler loved playing with the toy trucks in the sand! Their system of bed sheets makes a lot of sense after thinking about it, but did make you think! (I hope we followed the directions about this properly!) But, basically, you arrive with the sheets folded and put them on the beds you use. When you leave, leave them on the beds/rooms and start a load of laundry of either sheets or towels to make things quicker for the cleaners.
What a beautiful home and amazing vacation. We loved everything about the home and the area. The house was comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed walking the beach looking for beach glass and Petosky stones and swimming in Lake Huron. Having a nice sized backyard was a big plus for the kids, as well as the air hockey and ping pong tables. This vacation rental is our new favorite rental. Thank you Cheryl and Phil!
Just as described. Except for no firewood at property. Had to go get our own.
Our family had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful home. The photos on Vrbo do not do it justice, it's much bigger than it looks. The owners take very good care of this home, it's very clean, and unbelievably well stocked, they really thought of everything to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible(thank you, Cheryl!). My favorite part of this home were the views.Every bedroom(with the exception of the bunkhouse room)had a view. The main sitting area and the basement both have a wall of windows too so you can enjoy the beauty of lake Huron. The basement was made for family game /movie night and having a fridge and kitchette right there was the icing on the cake. The star of the show for me was the beach area right in the back yard, so unbelievably beautiful! Lake Huron is crystal clear with small waves, great sand, and no critters I'm a little squeamish when it comes to that. There are smooth rocks for the first 12 feet or so then smooth sand, you can see the bottom and walk pretty far out. My grandson loved going on a rock hunt but if that's not for you, they have a dock with a ladder where the stones stop and another ladder at the end of the dock, still shallow water. There is a small grocery/liquor store about 10 mins South of the house IGA, pizza place too. There is a larger grocery/Liqour store about 15-20 mins North in Twas. Twas was a cute little town with restaurants, shops on one side and a park/playground and long dock on the other. Thank you❤️
Our group really enjoyed our stay! Lovely beach and well-equipped, comfortable house. Very responsive hosts. We hope to return again!
The house was great for our family group of 16 people. And Lake Huron was surprisingly beautiful- sandy and clean. We kept our boat at a nearby marina that worked out well. The kitchen was very well supplied as well. Would stay here again!
There is absolutely nothing negative about this property. Has its own beach access. House is huge which allows plenty of room. TVs in every room. Huge projection TV downstairs. Air hockey and ping pong table. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, cookware, and appliances. Owners are easy to get ahold of. Can’t go wrong with this house.
The property was perfect for our first Women's Cousin Gathering. The home was welcoming and stocked for anything we needed. All furnishings and items were high end. The home theatre system was fantastic for an event we had planned. The dining area that sat 12 was perfect for dining, playing games, projects, and a great spot to interact throughout the entire weekend. We thank you Cheryl and Phil for a wonderful weekend and we are planning our 2nd gathering next year with additional guests. The only suggestion I have is on the check in process to indicate that the alarm code needs a pound sign after the code to enter the house. We did figure it out and the hosts did call and confirm our entry and if we needed anything. Perfect, perfect property.
We have stayed at this property before and as always had a wonderful time. The home is beautiful, very clean and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. To top it off the weather was absolutely wonderful.
The house itself is great (although a little dated) - clean, great yard/beach area, and quiet location, but we had a poor experience with everything before/after our stay. First, we did not find the hosts to be particularly responsive, taking several days to get back to us for simple questions. We could've answered some of these ourselves by looking at the listing, but they went on vacation and temporarily disabled the listing right before our trip. Second, the check in/out process seemed a bit demanding. Late check-in at 4pm and early check-out at 10am, and they also ask you to start the cleaning process for them at check-out (wash and put away beach towels, start a load of other towels, trash, dishwasher, etc). Normally I don't mind, but this was especially frustrating considering none of the beds were made when we arrived - they just had throw pillows and comforters on top of a mattress protector, but no sheets or regular pillows that were ready to go. It was pretty frustrating for all of us to find out at night when we're ready to crawl into bed. They had laundry bags with the bedding in each of the rooms and I guess they expect you to make your own bed. You'd think that with those check in/out times and everything they ask their guests to do, they would have enough time to make the beds themselves. Lastly, we aimed to keep the house in good order and clean, but the owners charged us quite a bit to repair a small dent in a wall + living room rug damage. The rug was already in disrepair and looked like it was on its last legs. Someone tripped over an existing snag and might've made the tear bigger, and we're somehow responsible for this? We were sent a photo of the damage and you can literally see other parts of the rug that are torn and tattered, and the wear on the rug was one of the first things we noticed when we got to the house. I have no problem paying for damage we caused, but this seemed unreasonable. It just felt like we were being nickeled and dimed and being charged way more than the actual cost of repair/damage. We were talking about looking the other way on the first couple things and booking again next year, but the unexpected charges for seemingly normal wear and tear were the last straw. Great spot, but not worth the hassle.
