Getting to Young can be an adventure; part of the Young Road is a winding, (well taken care of) dirt mountain road through the forest.
In the winter you may need Awd or 4wd when it snows.
This place is unique and well loved by those who need to get away for a bit.
Watch for deer, elk and turkeys, even bear!
This is also ranching country- open range with cattle, cowboys and their dogs.
Fenced front yard and screen room offer a safe space for your dog. Please note that dogs are to be kept on a leash when not in the yard or Cottage.
There is fishing at Haigler Creek- or drive back up to the Rim and enjoy one of the Lakes (30 miles).
Also, while nature is all around, keep in mind that we are on the edge of a small town. You will hear lawnmowers, chainsaws, barking dogs, roosters, occasional Utv's...
Wifi 100 Mbps
A country dirt road takes you to the Cottage...
You will have the Cottage to yourself.
I am available nearby if you have questions, but otherwise will respect your privacy.
The temperatures in Young are typicallydegrees cooler than Phoenix. You can see, and hear, Cherry Creek from the porch when it is running during monsoon season and with winter snowmelt. Typically there is water in the creek 3-4 months off and on during the year. The sycamores turn golden in the fall when elk are bugling and turkeys are calling to each other.
Summertime brings warmer temperatures and the chance for more bugs. The newly added screen room offers a haven from flying pests.
Everyone around this property has a few acres- and livestock. Sometimes people will play music when they are working outside... sometimes you can hear an Atv or other road noise (sound travels even in the forest).
You will find a 24-hour gas station and two convenience stores here, but the nearest full-service grocery store is over an hour away, so it's best to bring groceries with you.
Bruzzi Vinyard, ( Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 6pm and dinner each of those nights at 6pm by reservation.) The Hitchin' Post (coffee and other treats- closed Sunday) and a small cafe offer delicious food. Look for them online for more info. Antler's Cafe and Bar are open Th-Sun. and have a great menu!
We are unable to issue refunds for travel delays (including road closures), illness or weather in accordance with our cancellation policy.
We encourage you to purchase travel insurance.
If there is an internet or power outage (typically 2-4 times a year) it is beyond my control. I will come over (during the day) and let you know when Aps expects to restore power. If the internet/power will be off for more than a few hours and you choose to depart early, I will refund the rest of your stay at the Cottage. No other refund or payment will be given. By booking a stay at Cherry Creek Cottages/Silver Streak Sally you are agreeing to this. Thanks for understanding.
I try Very hard to keep spiders and insects out! So sorry if you find one! No refunds for spiders or insects!
During your stay you might see bugs, spiders and their webs, squirrels, skunks, deer, elk, cattle and other livestock, Javelina, coyotes, bear, snakes, mice- all kinds of animals. Please do not book if this is a problem for you. We do not refund for any sightings of life's creatures.
