Dancing Ferns in Volcano, Hawaii

Dancing Ferns was an escape from the hustle of the Kona side! It was a serene and quiet property about 10 minutes away from Volcanoes National Park, which was a major plus for us and why we chose it. The house was large and exactly as pictured. Would stay again!

House was clean, quite and all had a good time.

The house smelled really bad. There’s no central a/c and about 1/2 the windows won’t stay open. It did get hot so we got uncomfortable without a/c. There was mold on the spare bathroom shower curtain. Several of the smoke detectors were missing. There was some kind of food spill all over the screen door into the screened in patio. The Wi-Fi constantly went down. We had more time without Wi-Fi than with it. The worst problem was probably the lock on the gate. It needed to be oiled or replaced with a better outdoor lock. We struggled and fought with it constantly. It was also really inconvenient to have to get out in the rain or darkness to open the gate, move the vehicle in, then close the gate. The headboard on the queen bed was broken. I hated the setup of the master bathroom with the toilet and step-down into the shower. It was an accident waiting to happen. There were at least 3 places in the house requesting that we tip the cleaning crew.

We had an amazing stay at Dancing Ferns. It was minutes from the Volcano National Park. Property manager was very fast in responding to every communication.

The house was very large, clean and comfortable for the five of us - we didn't use the guest cottage. There were plenty of towels, blankets and kitchen items. The washer and dryer and bathrooms all worked great. The proximity to the Volcanoes National Park was very convenient. One of us thought there was a musty smell but we opened the windows during the day/evening and there were air purifiers in each bedroom, which were great white noise for sleeping. Stayed in June but no need for a/c as cool as the nights get. The last part of the road to the house is rocky but fine.

This is a beautiful three bedroom home in a quiet location outside the town of Volcano. My family loved our stay here - the outside porch was great for eating dinners at and just gazing into the rainforest. The bedrooms and bed setup (two twins in one room and a double in the other) worked well for our three children. We appreciated being close to Volcanoes National Park.

The house was very clean and beautiful! We loved having the full kitchen and multiple bedrooms. We appreciated that there were some food staples available for our use, like spices and foil. The property was beautiful, we saw frogs and bores (from a safe distance). There was only one TV in the living room, and it would have been nice to have one in the bedrooms as well. Host was also not very responsive, and we never heard back on our questions.

The property was just as described. It's located just the right distance from Volcano Park. This was probably the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in.

We came to Volcano to hopefully see Kilauea erupt. This house was in a good spot to get to the park easily. You do have to drive down a pretty rough road to get to it, but just go slow and it’s fine. The house is very nicely decorated and we didn’t notice any musty odor (as some in Volcano do) from the rainforest location. It was very clean. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is pretty well-equipped, and we used it for making breakfast quite often. We did try to grill fish, but there was no pan for grilling it, so we opted for the grill on the stovetop, which worked well. The chorus of rainforest frogs and birds was amazing!

Very clean and plenty of room for 5 of us. great to have laundry as well. We did not have any cell service at the house but the wifi was good. It was rainy and chilly most of the time we were there, and the heaters are space heaters so just make sure you have one for each bedroom when you arrive. We were missing one but we contacted the company and they let us go to the adjoining property (which was not occupied) to get one that had ended up there.

The house is very nice, comfortable, quiet and very convenient to the National Park that we were there to visit . There were a few maintenance issues, but the property management was quick to respond and always reachable. The need for a little attention was the only reason we gave the property a 4 and I am sure they will address those items for the future. We cooked on the grill every night which is nice because there really aren't dining options in Volcano. There are a couple restaurants in the National Park itself. The patio is very nice for dining if the weather is pleasant. It is quite secluded so if that is what you are looking for then you should love it. Be aware that at the last turn you will be on a dirt road, but you don't have to drive far on it. We listened to their advice to grocery shop in Hilo before we arrived at the property. It was very good advice.

This house is stunning! We were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And Pele put on a display. What a gift!

Clean. Well stocked kitchen. Spacious for 5 adults. Private. Felt very safe.

Great place if you want to be close to Volcano National Park. We enjoyed our stay. Outside patio was nice and peaceful to have meals. Plenty of space for our family to spread out. Kitchen with great supplies and laundry W/D convenient. We would stay again!
