Sharpsburg, Maryland
This beautiful home is right in the heart of the historical Antietam National Battlefield! Seconds away from Nutter's Ice Cream shop, Burkholder's Bakery, Captain Bender's Tavern, which has an amazing food menu, and many other local shops. Tour the many historical areas surrounding the town such as the C&O Canal, the Antietam National Cemetary, Boonsboro, MD and Shepherdstown, WV. There's a fenced in back yard and enclosed porch to store your bicycles during your stay. Perfect for everyone!
Our home was originally built in 1856, just 5 years before the beginning of the Civil War. This home is seconds away from the "Big Spring," which was originally the center of what the town was built around. This spring was chosen as it was beside a branch of the colonial Great Wagon Road from Philadelphia to modern Augusta, Georgia.
During the 20th Century, more homes were built, but families got smaller, and the town was missed by major highways, so Sharpsburg has been much the same size for more than 150 years.
I enjoyed my stay. The house was neat and well maintained. The people of Sharpsburg are friendly.
A great little house with All the essentials plus nice snacks in the fridge. Washer and dryer. Nice yard for the dogs to get busy. Good kitchen.. Very charmin..
Handy to all the sights and a pleasant house. Loved the Christmas decor!
This simple, well-organized house was excellent for our purposes. Close to numerous historical sites, C&O bike trail, ice cream shop, downtown Sharpsburg etc. Let us get a good feeling for the area which we explored by vehicle and bicycle. Had everything we needed to prepare most of our meals at the house, neighborhood quiet at night, always could park right in front of the house.
We loved the dollhouse. It was perfect for us and our small dog. Nice small fenced in back yard. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Would definitely return again. Highly recommended!!
House has been modernized but you can still tell it's old by it's bones/structure, steep steps, low ceilings and overall design. Neat! Neighborhood nice and people very friendly. Historic area and we really liked exploring it, especially the Antietam battlefield and Harpers Ferry. Nutters ice cream was just a few doors down at our corner and was delicious and low priced. Battlefield fairly close too. Check in and out process easy. Overall very happy with our stay.
The property was just as describes in the listing. We enjoyed the fenced in yard, the house amenities and the extremely close proximity to Antietam. The entire family, including our two small dogs, felt right at home in The Dollhouse. We were provided everything we needed for a contactless check-in process as well as everything the area had to offer. We are wanting to come back to the area again to spend more time at Harper's Ferry and would definitely book this property again.
Had a great time looking at the historical stuff nearby. House is a short walk down Harpers Ferry Rd to the 8th Connecticut Monument Trail and from there a great hike to to Antietam Creek and Burnside's Bridge.
Easy check in, clean house. Good location, we spent one day in Harper's Ferry and the next checking out Antietam battlefield. We were lucky enough to meet a great couple who lived a few houses up the street who were kind enough to give us a tour around this very interesting town.
Great house. Comfortable living room and smart TV.
Daley's Doll House At Antietam was an adorable and comfortable spot to relax for a few days! Kudos to the host/manager for being super helpful and attentive!
We loved our stay here. We hiked, explored the battlefield and visited the winery. We also did a ghost tour and enjoyed the local eateries. This was the perfect place to start our days and end our evenings. Would definitely come back.
We enjoyed our time at the Dollhouse. The Sharpsburg location was perfect for our visits to Antietam, Harper's Ferry and we found Shepardstown, WV to be a lovely place to spend some time too.
While in Sharpsburg, we stayed at Daley’s Dollhouse. It was wonderful! Perfect for my husband, myself, and our dog. We enjoyed the history at both Antietam and Harpers Ferry. We self catered in the well equipped kitchen. We visited in October and the Fall Foliage was beautiful. Sharpsburg is quaint but prepare yourself for Nutters. This local ice cream shop is 1/2 block away and is indescribable. So yum! Love this place in Sharpsburg and look forward to visiting again. Thank you!
Loved this place. We could live here… both in Sharpsburg and in the Doll House. The home was super clean and just what we needed for a couple of day’s to see the area. No matter how good the listing you never know quite what you are going to get but this place exceeded our expectations all around. Probably the only thing I’d change if I was a one nothing vote is to swap out the smaller couch/bed in the living room for one that’s more comfortable for sitting but hey, the whole place was great and I understand others would prefer it to be a sleeping spot. We highly recommend you stay here for easy access to the Battlefield and local hiking. Black Rock was definitely worth it for the amazing views and the “small” ice cream at Nutters was almost more than I could finish.
Pretty little doll house…we enjoyed our stay. One bedroom in a loft, bathroom downstairs with kitchen and living room. We took our two pups who enjoyed the fenced yard…one is a puppy who escaped and the house is on a busy street…that was hair raising because she does not always come when called, but we corralled her…just be sure no one has left the gate open! Ten minutes from the theater so great location for that. The ice cream scene at Nutter’s right up the street was right out of the Americana playbook…nice places to eat in Shepherdstown…a fun getaway!
Great location. Easy to access nearby sites. House was exactly as posted. We had a very nice stay and would totally stay there again!
Loved being able to bring the pups for a weekend away. Walking distance to food and ice cream a plus!
We stayed here with our pets for two weeks while we waited for our new home construction to be finished. I was very disappointed with the property. It was extremely small. Since it's a pre civil war home, the ceilings are very low and my husband who is 6'4 kept hitting his head. The property was run down and not clean. There were mouse droppings in the kitchen. The carpet upstairs was stained in numerous places (and it got so hot upstairs you couldn't sleep up there). The kitchen chairs and couches also had stains. The laminate wood floor was split in a couple of places. The security was also poor. There was no deadbolt on the front door. The cable/wifi was strong which I appreciated because I had to work from home. The back yard was fenced which was nice for our dogs, but the grass was overgrown. It wasn't a space you could sit out and enjoy. Here's the kicker... we stayed for two weeks and when we moved out we rented a uhaul to transport miscellaneous boxes we brought since we were moving into our new home. The neighbors called the cops on us! They thought we were robbing the house. And then the owner wasn't aware the house was rented due to a miscommunication from his property manager. So he had to come down and check out the situation. When he figured out we weren't robbing the place, he offered to give us a discount for our trouble... but I never got any refund.
