We just wanted to get away from our hectic lives for a few days over Christmas. We love the mountains and the location was within our traveling window. The house is in a quiet area and we were able to relax and unwind. There were no noisy neighbors. The closest house/cabin was about 1/4 mile down the long drive. I've seen other reviews stating how the road down to the house was steep and difficult to travel on a motorcycle. We had a small SUV (Subaru Crosstrek) and had no issues. Is the road steep & gravel with some ruts? Yes. Bust if you slow down, you'll be fine. The internet & TV worked just fine but the cell service & the house phone service was poor. Of course, if you're wanting to disconnect for a while, that will fit right into your plans. Be sure to bring provisions as the town of Robbinsville is a good 20-25 minute drive. There's a grocery/pharmacy there called Ingles. They had anything we needed but we brought most of our food with us. We only had to pick up a handful of items. It looked like your typical Kroger/Publix/Winn Dixie. We enjoyed our stay and the host answered our questions in a timely manner. It does appear as though there are going to be more cabins/homes built within the next year since there was construction taking place above this home's site. Check it out if you're looking for some solitude.
My family decided to travel for Thanksgiving this year and this property was great and accommodated all of our needs. We love that the property was private and it provided the space needed for everyone! The host was easily accessible and answered every message sent. I highly recommend and we all said when we left that we would definitely be back!
Communication with host great! Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi and Tv did not work at all. Even after host tried to fix, it just never worked for us. We rely on Wi-Fi for work and so this was huge. The creek and the relaxing and private atmosphere is a blessing. Close to the Cherhola Skyway and make sure to visit the Tapoco Lodge.
Nice place to relax and unwind. Clean, inviting and cozy. Kitchen was great for breakfast and dinners and two coffee pots meant we had enough for everyone in the morning. Beds were comfortable and we used the laundry to wash and dry our rain soaked gear. A few items to mention: 1 - the internet is iffy and seems to be metered. 2 - there were board games and cards available to entertain. 3 - there were nice notes left all around to help with questions that might be asked (i.e. internet password, how to use the TV, garbage drop off location) 4 - the creek by the porch is nice for hanging out (at the creek or on the porch) and was moving quite nicely. 5 - lock box for keys on the door made for easy access. 6 - the cell phone service is sketchy at best. **motorcyclist related content** The house was a good jump-off point for riding several roads in the area. Garage was nice and we were able to put all 4 bikes in there for the evening. the only down side is the driveway, we we on 4 different bikes (cruiser, sport touring, sport bike and adventure bike) while passable it is not for the faint of heart or those not accustomed to riding dirt/gravel roads with ruts and bumps on steep angles or covered in leaves. In the dark & rain it was not a fun experience. There could be better signage as to where the house is as the driveway is completely covered in leaves and we initially rode past it and up a steep gravel hill to a construction site.
The house was clean and comfortable with a beautiful yard secluded from the neighbors. We loved having the garage to store our motorcycles over night and the seperate living areas on both floors made it very comfortable and easy to split our group, allowing us to not have a cramped living space after coming back from exploring. The house was clean, cozy, and the owner was incredibly polite and wonderful to work with. We all had a grest time staying at their beautiful house.
It was clean and plenty of room. It is motorcycle accessible..... Wouldn't say motorcycle friendly, but accessible! Was a good stay!!
Its a bit far for the trip town to see tourists attractions but for the money you can't beat it. Everything you need is supplied at this house so all you need is clothes and food.
great area where nobody bothers you
Plenty of room for all the family, lovely view of stream!
Nice clean house and quiet.
Beautiful property in a great rustic location. Amenities were plentiful. Property owner was easy to contact and very helpful. Plenty of space for everyone to hang out and enjoy themselves. Worth mentioning that the driveway is very steep and gravel. After it rained it was a little treacherous and also narrow for full size truck hauling our jetskis. Otherwise, enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend to others!
Quiet , plenty of play space for the kids , and much needed sitting by the creek listening to the river run. Everyone loved the house and the quietness. Would stay here 100 more times . Love it .
Just wanted to say that the owner/property manager was incredibly helpful with my stay!
It is one of the best places I have ever stayed at! If you want to relax this is the place. The owner is wonderful to work with. I will stay again!
This was one of the best rental properties my family and I have stayed in. The property manager was very communicable prior to and during the rental stay. Alice was extremely cooperative and assisted us in making this stay an amazing fit for my family. A large, multigenerational family with pets, makes it rather difficult to find a reasonably priced option for rental. We did not have this issue with Alice. The property is super secluded, off the side of the mountain, over a little bridge with almost no view of neighboring cabins etc. Something my family was very fond of. This property had all the essentials along with a game room, satellite internet and TV, and astounding space for everyone to both spread out and gather for meals etc during the trip. Along with being surrounded by a beautiful creek with wildlife in it like beavers and cranes. We would highly recommend staying at this property and are looking forward to scheduling our next stay at this fabulous location.
This is the place to be if you want to to get away from it all! We loved our stay here and will definitely try to return during summer. It was cold and icy during most of our visit, so the fireplace was wonderful. The location was perfect for us, right between Santeetlah and Fontana. The creek running through the property creates such a tranquil vibe, it would be perfect to play in during warmer months. The home was fully supplied and had everything we needed for our stay, which was great because there isn’t anything close by. Everything worked and was very clean. Alice was also a pleasure to deal with, I would highly recommend her and her home.
Enjoyed thanksgiving in the mountains with the family.
