Mendon, Vermont
Hello and welcome to my Vermont retreat! Please come in, make yourself comfortable, and relax.
When you choose my home, you'll be in a wonderful location. In one direction, you are just minutes down the road from ski heaven - Killington and Pico Mountains! Great skiing and snowboarding, lots of mountain activities for the whole family. Turn the other way, and you're just down the road from cute & historic Rutland. Plus you'll find an abundance of hiking all around. Either way, you’ll find tons of great outdoor activities, and lots of local shops and restaurants.
My house is a ranch style single family home, sitting conveniently right on the main road for quick travel.
Inside the home, you'll find 2 cozy bedrooms, each with:
*super comfortable queen mattresses
*sturdy frames (one bedroom is wood, one is metal)
*2 types of pillows for different types of sleepers.
*closet with hangers
*luggage rack
*nightstands with built-in USB ports
The bathroom has been recently updated and has:
* tub/shower combo
* Plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
* Plenty of towels
* Hand soap
* Starter pack of toilet paper
* also a hair dryer and a straightener for anyone who forgets to pack theirs as often as I forget to pack mine!
The large, well-stocked kitchen allows for many home cooked meals!
* Several pots and pans,
* Baking sheet
* Griddle pan
* Plenty of kitchen utensils and silverware
*Toaster
* Drip coffee machine that can do a big pot or a single cup (no k-cups), and stocked with coffee beans, coffee grinder, sugar, and also hot green tea packets.
* Feel free to message for any specifics on what is provided in the kitchen.
* Please note, there is no dishwasher.
The living room has a roomy 3 seat sofa, plus two additional arm chairs. A large coffee table is perfect for having drinks after a fulfilling day, but also plenty of room for games with the family and friends. The smart TV is loaded with apps for you to log into your own Netflix account & etc, but I also provide free access to Disney Plus and Peacock for tons of great shows and movies to watch.
And for those working from home, you'll be glad to find a private office space as well, with a good sized desk and comfy office chair.
The office area is also a bonus 3rd bedroom! There is a daybed set up with a twin mattress, perfect for your kiddo or anyone who needs a single bed to sleep, or just as a room to relax and chill out privately.
My two little ones (ages 5 and 3) and myself visited this Cozy Home the weekend after Christmas 2023 to get some early runs in at Pico Mountain and visit with my oldest (age 19) who is a snowsports instructor in the area. The home was just as described on VRBO, clean and well appointed. After hitting the slopes, the little ones appreciated the Disney Plus shows on the TV and my oldest appreciated home cooked meals (in the well appointed kitchen) and free laundry. The home's location was also convenient for visiting Rutland. We checked out the Wonderfeet Children's Museum, which was a huge hit for the little ones! Had the weather been the least bit snowy (instead of 45 and rainy), the small flat backyard would have been great for playing in the snow. I was a little nervous about backing out of the driveway onto such a busy road, but with one car in the double driveway, I had enough room to turn the car around to pull out forward. Had a great visit and would stay here again.
Just what my Dad and I needed for our short sojourn to VT. Hiking during the day, and space to relax at night (or in my case work). Beds were comfortable, and I couldn't hear either the traffic outside, or my Dad snoring in the next bedroom. A win all round.
Comfortable, clean, cozy, convenient. Hosts easily accessible, promptly responsive, & caring. Some folks might have issue with proximity to road, but not us. Plus, until you’ve scattered a bunch of chickens from around your car in the morning, you haven’t truly lived! Relax, you’re in Vermont! Only thing that would have improved our stay would be a few chairs in the backyard, so we could do more relaxing.
Our family of three was in town for a wedding and this location was perfect. We were near the venue (Mountain top Inn), but also near local restaurants and shopping. The home was well appointed and very comfortable. It was more spacious than it appears on the listing. Having the laundry onsite was a huge bonus. Our son enjoyed seeing the friendly chickens next door. We also checked out Sugar and Spice, a delicious restaurant a few minutes away and we were very impressed with their offerings. The host was very easy to get into contact with and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely return.
My wife and I returned to VT for a week and are very familiar with the area. This house is conveniently located; 10 minutes to downtown, 15 to Killington. It is right on Rte 4, but we didn't notice much traffic noise at all. Lots of room, good kitchen, washer/dryer. We will definitely look to stay there in the future. PS: Neighbors have a flock of chickens who came to visit every day to share some chips.
House was clean and well equipped with comfy beds as advertised. We were only in town for a few days, but it was a great alternative to a hotel. Being near Sugar & Spice for breakfast is a big plus!
the house had everything we needed, was conveniently located, and the hosts were friendly and helpful
We had an excellent stay in this home that my kids affectionately called the little red cabin. The house is clean, warm and nicely decorated. The beds are very comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Very close to Pico and the owners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with.
Had a great weekend at the little red cabin. Great location!
This cottage is nicely updated and very clean. The beds were great. We needed just a place to rest at night as we were road tripping around the state. It was centrally located so great for us. Host was always quick to respond to our needs which were few.
This home is a great find close to Killington, VT. We visited in late September and were able to see some of the foliage changing even over the 4 days that we were there. If you come up for ski season it would take you about 10-15 minutes to get to Pico and maybe 20 minutes up to the base of Killington. We were in town for a wedding but did do some local hikes. The home is a small ranch style home with parking for two cars outside. We didn’t use the kitchen but it appeared to have the basic necessities (pots, pans, etc) and nice appliances. The one bathroom was more than adequate for our family. It has a tub/shower combo which would be suitable for small kids. The beds are very comfortable as were the pillows. Felt very rested in the morning. The home does sit on a semi-busy road but I was not able to hear any cars at night from the bedrooms. There are chickens outside from the neighbors on either side. They were rather friendly and curious. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had a group of 4 and the house had plenty of space. It was clean and cozy. The location was perfect, we ended up doing some great local hikes and we popped into Woodstock for a day. There is also a cute breakfast place 2 minutes up the road.
We had a great stay. The house is clean, nicely decorated with a homey feel. And with it being just a few minutes in between Killington and downtown Rutland, the location was perfect! My family thoroughly enjoyed all the activities nearby. Lauren was excellent in communicating pre-check in, and during our stay. I’m glad we found this property. We will be back for the ski season.
The house was very clean, and nicely arranged. The beds were very comfortable and great for a good night’s rest after a day of activities. All 4 in out party had an enjoyable vacation, and would highly recommend this place to our friends and family
The house was clean and comfortable. Perfect for a family and very well located.
The location was closer to the road than expected but it was very nice and clean. Owners were very helpful and responsive! Great place to stay if visiting Vermont.
