Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. We believe that art is meant to be shared so we designed the home to feature colorful pieces that convey happiness. The house has been freshly renovated and decorated with a mix of modern and vintage pieces. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail adventures await!

Neighborhood description
Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.

The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.

From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.

Getting around
There is plenty of free street parking out front. You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. It is about 20 minutes to the airport, depending on time of day/traffic.

The space
The Space Essentials
We take pride in offering a naturally clean, warm and welcoming space. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom. The house is stocked with linens, towels and amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom to make your stay more convenient. There is a Black & Decker 4-in-1 coffee-maker, as well as microwave, pots, pans and other cooking items in the kitchen for guests to be able to cook their own food. There is free WiFi and TV with a Blu-Ray player, we keep a selection of DVD/BluRay discs on hand. The house is cleaned using only natural environmentally friendly products and we are passionate about recycling.

Guest access
You can access the house anytime after 3 pm by using the keypad. The unique access code will be the last four digits of the phone number you have on file with VRBO on the day of your arrival. We ask that you respect our home and the quiet hours of the community. Our home is not baby proofed, and may not be ideal for families with very small children, however, children are welcome at your own discretion.

Other things to note:
Please ensure you are booking with your full legal name. We may request additional information upon booking.

**Parties and events are not permitted
** This is a non-smoking home. There is absolutely no smoking anywhere on the premises. Smoking can damage our art. If this rule is violated, you will be asked to vacate the premises immediately without a refund. If there is smoking in the house you will be charged an additional $250 cleaning fee.

Self check-in
Check yourself in with the smartlock.

Other things to note
There are absolutely no parties of events allowed at the house. This policy is strictly enforced. Unfortunately there have been three incidents of people hosting parties at the house in violation of our policy that were extremely distressing. The last guest had well over 100 people and the neighbors called the police. It is a quiet family neighborhood and I do not want to be known as a nuisance house in the neighborhood. After the last incident, the neighbor’s have a zero tolerance for parties and will contact the police. If you are interested in having a few friends visit you at the house please notify me but for insurance reasons and out of respect for my neighbors I must enforce this rule. I appreciate your understanding.

Lisa is a great host anf the house is really nice. The big plus for us and why we picked this house is the big fenced in yard, our fur babies loved it. The location is great as well, close to all the fun stuff in Pittsburgh. We highly recommend Lisa and her rental!

Lisa was communicative and went out of her way to get the house ready for us a bit early. Pearl the Welcome Cat was a delight and kept us both entertained and comfortable (she slept with me all night). The house was bright, cheerful, clean, quirky, cute, fun. We stayed one night after a concert @ The Roxian (~15 minute drive) and had a wonderful, comfortable stay. We couldn’t figure out the thermostat, but there were copious blankets, all clean, fresh, bright and warm.

Very comfortable, clean, cozy, well-equipped place to stay that is uniquely charming. And Pearl, the outdoor cat greeter was a nice companion on the front porch while I had my coffee on a rainy morning (she seems to only come to you if invited, a very polite kitty!). Will definitely try to stay here again if I ever come back to the area!

Lisa, the host was a wonderful host and communicator. She was very accommodating and responsive. We traveled with our 2 dogs - as it was cold and snowy, I loved that this place had a secure, fenced-in yard where I didn't have to go outside with them on a leash. I was able to bring the dogs in the kitchen and guide them to the bathroom to dry their paws from the snow. The place was welcoming and eclectic in decorations - it gave the place a lot of personality. The kitchen can get drafty, but we didn't have any issues staying warm with the heat and blankets - the bedroom was very warm each night so we turned the heat down.It took some getting used to the bathroom being on a different floor from the main bedroom, but we managed just fine. The bed was very comfortable for us and the bathroom was nice and updated. The kitchen had just enough to manage for a few days - although I struggled to find a pan where pancakes didn't stick to it. There are ample spices and Pam - just no oil in the cabinet. The neighborhood was an unknown area of Pittsburgh to us - although some surrounding homes are rundown or abandoned, we felt very safe going for walks in the area. It was quiet except for the dogs that live next door - but after talking with Lisa we learned more about the situation and weren't bothered. Instructions inside the place were simple, easy-to-follow - recycling and trash were easy to follow too. If we are in town in the future, we would consider this place again!

We just had a brief stay in Pittsburgh and this house was ideal for us. It was cute, clean, and well equipped, but most importantly for us it had a perfect yard for our dogs. We will stay again when we come to Pittsburgh

We had a fantastic stay. Our proxy host Pearl (cat) was so sweet. The house is adorable and very clean. We had absolutely no problems. Lisa was fantastic with answering each question. She made sure we had all of the information to make our stay almost like we were staying at home. She also made sure the ACs were on when we got there and information about turning the heat on if needed since it was pretty cold in Pittsburgh for this time of year. I would love to come back for longer and possibly bring my pup next time. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the house. I did take plently of the welcome host. Pearl does not live in the house, but she is welcome if you are willing. She is the sweetest soul.

Location not in the best area. As we arrived in the neighborhood, it looked very rundown, and we did not feel comfortable staying here and ended up cutting our losses and getting a hotel. Communication from the owner was good prior to arrival.

We arrived late around 12:30 am. It was dark, the directions got us there but I was really not sure about the neighborhood as it was a little sketchy. When I got into the house, and realized there wasn’t a bathroom upstairs near the bedroom, I opted to sleep on the couch in the living room because I have minor mobility issues and the steps are steep. I was concerned about falling down them at night. At approximately 3 am I heard what sounded like gunshots in the neighborhood and I couldn’t sleep because of it. I searched for a hotel nearby and we left after only being there for 8 hrs out of a two day stay. I didn’t ask the owner for a refund and I just cut my losses for my own safety and comfort. And my trip was almost a year ago so I’m not sure why I’m just now being asked to review. The owner was responsive and the home was beautiful on the inside but because of the location and the overall dislike of Pittsburgh, would not return again. Not the owners fault, just not my cup of tea!

I was in town with my son for his college interview/audition. This place was super convenient:- easy parking- clean- warm- full kitchen (though we didn't cook)The owner was very available and responsive. But our favorite part of the stay was meeting the neighborhood cat Pearl. She was always around, and hung out with us. My son said if he ends up attending school here he'll want to visit Pearl on the weekends.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience staying at this cozy home! Don’t let the outside or driving up the street fool you. This cute older home is very well kept, clean & cozy! I had my 18yr son & my Frenchie on this short trip and we were all comfortable! If you’re traveling with a dog, the home has a huge backyard that’s fenced in so it makes it easier to let your pups out to potty. Lisa is a very great, friendly, helpful host & very responsive to any messages you send, before, during after your stay. The location of the home is very convenient to downtown Pittsburgh and easy to get around. If I had to say anything negative it wouldn’t even be related to Lisa or something in her control. There is parking right in front of the house which is great but the street is a tight fit so you have to park a little on the curb (no big deal) but leaving/turning around could be tricky if you have a big vehicle. I have a smaller jeep so it was no issue for me, just thought that info could be helpful to someone with a bigger vehicle. But I’m sure if you went down the street there’s a way out where you don’t have to do a 3 point turn. There are 3 very curious dogs in one of the neighboring homes that barked a lot at night when my frenchie went out to potty but other than that I highly recommend this property!!

I've been to Pittsburgh twice before this trip, but never spending much time inside the city itself. Having a spot that was clean, easy to access and cozy to come back to in between running around downtown and a wedding was perfect! Pearl was honestly the highlight of the stay- I dont think I've ever met.a sweeter cat. The property owner was so quick to reply with any questions I had, but honestly it was a hands-off stay, because they made it so easy from the start. Thanks for adding to a fantastic trip!
