Prescott, Wisconsin
Waypoint Cottage is ideally situated just two blocks from Prescott's lively downtown and riverfront--close enough to walk, but far enough from the trains and nightlife that you'll still get a good night's sleep. You’ll love the privacy of having the entire place to yourselves in this charming bungalow which has been completely renovated. There are three guest rooms, a full-bath, a well-stocked kitchen for preparing meals, and spacious gathering spaces both indoors and out.
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the amiable wrap-around front porch complete with a classic porch swing, our favorite spot for sipping morning coffee or a glass of wine before dinner. The living room is spacious with high ceilings and lots of natural light, reminiscent of the property’s origin as a one-room school house. Gracious furnishings and original artwork create a welcoming space for dining, game-playing, movie-watching, or just good conversation. The kitchen—which is stocked with all the necessities for serving meals including vintage Pfatzgraff dishes--has a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and central island. Sleeping spaces include two bedrooms and a finished attic. The master bedroom and the attic each have a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom doubles as an office and has a twin-sized day bed with a pull-out trundle. The full-bath features a vintage claw-foot tub with shower. There’s a fire pit in the fenced- in backyard and off-street parking for one vehicle.
A waypoint is a place where roads or rivers converge; in the case of Prescott, it's both. The St. Croix meets the Mississippi and Highway 10 meets Highway 35. Wisconsin meets Minnesota, and rural meets metropolitan. In fact, if you look up "waypoint" in the dictionary, you might just see a picture of Prescott! From Waypoint Cottage, you can explore all directions on the compass and find endless natural beauty, quaint river towns, and big-city attractions.
The cottage is charming and very clean. The air conditioning worked well and the beds were comfortable. It was quiet and two blocks from the cute downtown area. The property owners were communicative and helpful. The integration between Expedia and Vrbo was not flawless. Make sure you check for your door entry info earlier in the day than I did! That was my only hiccup in an otherwise great stay!
The directions sent to my phone were precise, entry to the house was easy. I think we all were impressed by how well-maintained and clean the property was. There were 4 of us in town for a concert at Treasure Island, and this VRBO was WAY better than sharing a cramped hotel room. The house was nicely decorated, comfortable, with super-comfortable mattresses and pillows. A great night's sleep on a quiet street. The TV had a million channels, plus ability to log on to streaming services. We didn't use the kitchen or laundry much, but there was a nice fridge, dishwasher, utensils, pots/pans, a full laundry room, etc. Be aware it's an older house, so only one bathroom, which can be a challenge with four people. The bath was well-stocked with lots of nice washcloths and towels, but no place to set toiletries. The one tub/shower worked very well but is an old clawfoot tub, so might be tough for people to step into and out of. The house is in a great residential location, a short walk from restaurants along the river, the riverfront park, etc. I wish we had brought our dogs, as the house has a great setup for dogs. The backyard is fully fenced in. Fire pit in backyard. As carefully as the house's interior is maintained, I'm surprised there was little attention paid to the backyard landscaping. The houses on either side were pretty cluttered (which certainly isn't the fault of the VRBO homeowners!).
Great property, great location!
Some friends and I stayed at the cottage for a wedding in the area. It was clean and the host was very responsive! It was also a close walk to downtown Prescott. Would stay again!
Very easy to reserve great instructions for the check in Had a great time and the house is beautiful and very clean
Beautiful cottage that was perfect for our family!
Waypoint cottage had everything we needed. It was centrally located, clean and cozy. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we are back in the area.
Beautiful cottage for a special weekend making memories. The cottage worked perfectly for friends getting together. Close walking distance to downtown Prescott or short drive to some other fun Wisconsin communities. Perfect getaway and highly recommend this cottage!
I am completely in love with this house. It has been renovated and updated flawlessly. Kudos to the decorator. The colors and details are perfection!!!!! We appreciated the notes on the fridge with phone numbers, WiFi, etc. We stayed with another couple - 4 adults. All of us were very comfortable. This would be an ideal location for a family or girls weekend too! There isn’t a lot to do in Prescott, but we did enjoy walking to the little downtown. Visited some shops (Aim Joy was my fave!) and walked down by the river to see the bridge. We also walked to the Visitor and Learning center. Not a great walk as it was along the highway. I would recommend driving to that, but walking around downtown was fun. All the appliances are in great condition we used the fridge, oven and dishwasher. So nice to have those amenities. Only bummer is only one bathroom. It is decorated really cute though! Please add a hand towel bar! Thank you for sharing your adorable house with us!!!!!
Lovely home in a cute town
We were thrilled with the accommodations. The furniture was cozy, including the beds. The porch was lovely. Kitchen adequate for what we needed. Overall a lovely time
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Very clean, quiet and peaceful to be able to have coffee and read on the porch. Outside is well groomed and we loved to be able to park our motorcycle in the garage to get it out of the rain. Amenities are fantastic and the coffee was great! I most definitely recommend staying here and am hopeful to get back. Thank you so much for providing us a beautiful place to stay! Kerry and Rick ❤️
Stayed at the Waypoint Cottage over Labor Day Weekend with our adult kids and their SOs. Perfect spot to go to the MN State Fair, then down to Red Wing to rent a pontoon boat for the day, then over to the Renaissance Festival. Walked down to The Kitchen Table twice for breakfast (so wonderful!!) and conveniently ordered takeout from Two Rivers Lodge when we were all too tired to go out for dinner or cook in. The Cottage had everything we needed, plenty of space and very nicely decorated. Beds were AMAZING! Would definitely stay again during future family gatherings!!
Everything was perfect for our group. We would definitely stay again!
My mother, sister, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. We used it as a base point for exploring Hastings and Red Wing. The home is lovely and was the perfect place to enjoy lazy breakfasts and homecooked meals in the evenings. We would definitely come back again!
Great stay!
What a pleasure to walk into a beautiful cottage to spend a few days with my daughters. The home was walking distance to the downtown. with cute restaurants and shops that overlooked the St. Croix River. Also, quick response when I had a question.
Arranging our stay was very easy! The owner was quickly responsive to any questions I had. Best of all, the property was delightfully charming, very clean, well appointed, had everything we needed, and exceeded our expectations. It truly added to our weekend trip!
Couldn't have asked for a better experience! The beds and furniture were SO comfortable. Perfect spot to have the dog join us for our stay. It was great to be able to walk downtown - quaint neighborhood and the hosts were very accommodating. Highly recommend!
