Rosamond, California
Welcome to the ranch. We provide a home away from home. Our goal is to provide a comfortable place to stay that meets your needs. We are great for short-term stays.
If you are working, playing, or just visiting the area, all of our amenities will save you money.
We provide a continental breakfast your first morning.
The fully furnished kitchen has a refrigerator, icemaker, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, waffle iron, and blender. We have pots, pans, and dishes; everything to prepare a meal. We are only 3 miles from the local grocery store, Albertson’s.
The fully stocked kitchen exits to an attached breezeway. There is additional seating, a place to play checkers, and a cabinet that has board games for you to play. You can also relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and check your email on our free Wi-Fi.
Our breezeway exits out a sliding barn door and into the backyard. Sit on our porch swing and enjoy a California sunset.
Our bathroom has only a shower and is accessed by walking through the bedroom. We offer shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We also have a blow dryer and curling iron. We have plenty of towels, linens, and pillows.
We have a washer and dryer located in the bathroom, and provide laundry soap and dryer sheets. There is also an iron and ironing board.
Each bedroom has a king size bed, lots of comfortable pillows, and a TV programmed with Roku and 40 channels.
You have to walk through one bedroom to get to the bathroom.
In the living room, there is an electric fireplace to warm our home, a 40” big screen TV programmed with Roku and 40 channels. The sofa makes into a cozy bed for one adult or two small children. We also have an evaporative cooler that keeps the home cool on a hot summer’s day.
There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. We have a fully covered porch that provides lots of shade to enjoy a barbecue or eat at the outdoor table. Relax in our rocking chairs with a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the sunrise, or an ice-cold glass of tea in the afternoon.
Our fenced property has plenty of room to park an RV, toy hauler, or semi-truck. One-half of the property is open desert for parking and the other half is an orchard with over 300 fruit trees. Feel free to walk through the orchard and sample some ripe berries, apples, or pomegranates. We have a bunkhouse separate from the house where our groundskeeper stays.
The house has been decorated with historical pictures of the Rosamond area; and is equipped with a carbon monoxide alarm, and smoke detectors in each room.
Our home is small and cozy, a reflection in time when life was lived outdoors. The grandeur is in the open spaces. We have four acres with over 300 fruit trees. They begin to fruit in early May and continue through October. We have four different kinds of berries, several varieties of apple trees, an apricot tree, an almond tree, and pomegranate trees. We invite you to walk in the orchard, and pick fruit that is in season.
We are in awe of all the local history. We have a library of local books from the Kern Antelope Historical Society. We have antique farm equipment from original settlers, the Graves family. We, also, have historic pictures of the area in our home.
Out the back is a porch swing to watch the beautiful California sunsets. In the front, we have a porch to sit and rock in the rocking chair, enjoy the morning sunrise, barbecue your dinner, or slide out the fire pit and roast marshmallows at night under the stars.
Pets are allowed, with responsible humans. We provide "poop bags," and ask that you pick up and dispose in the garbage can on the north side of the house. Pets are allowed in the house, and while you are out during the day, we have a 6 foot fenced kennel on the south side of the house. The kennel has a shade screen, a bowl for water, and one for food. Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture. Animal hair on those items will be charged the $250 security deposit.
Children are welcome. We have a fenced in smaller yard for them to play. We also have the following special programs on our ROKU TV system:
Nick
Nick Jr.
Disney – Some shows require your own TV activation
Disney Jr. - Some shows require your own TV activation
PBS Kids
If you let me know the ages and gender of your children, we will often stock it with games for them.
The property has security cameras, a keyless entry with your own personal code on the front door, and padlock on the gate with the same code.
We are near the hospitals for visiting nurses, solar fields, Edwards Air Force Base, Mojave Air Space and Port, and only two miles from Willow Springs Racetrack.
Enjoy the stars at night. We have solar lights on the fence to help you find your way home.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We do not live on the property, but are in the orchard periodically to pick fruit. We live 5 miles away, but are available to help you check in, make your stay comfortable, and help with anything you may need.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
We are in the desert and there are weeds called goat heads that will stick in your shoes. Please do not walk barefoot outside.
House Rules
Please do not smoke in the house, and if you smoke outside, place butts in the cans.
The garage and the bunkhouse are private and the residence of the groundskeeper.
Feel free to walk through the orchard and pick any fruit that it is in season.
Rural Area:
We are in the Mojave Desert. At first glance, the surrounding areas are filled with tumble weeds. As you look closer, you can find Joshua trees, and in the springtime a variety of wildflowers.
Excellent 2bdr Ranch House for the two of us and our small dog. Plenty of room to roam. Morning coffee on the front porch was great. Plan to return.
Great little place to rest at the end of day. Clean, comfortable and everything you need! The host provided us with eggs and bacon plus so much more!
This is a lovely, quiet place where you feel like you've stepped into Rosamond of yesteryear, yet just down the street are shops and restaurants. Chavonne is absolutely wonderful and made the stay even better. We'll definitely go back when we're in the Antelope Valley again!
Everything was fine. Chavonne was a super host. We arrived after dark and she was there looking for us which was very nice and appreciated.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was very cozy and quiet. My granddaughters loved the place. We will definitely be back for another getaway. Thanks for everything.
My daughter (14), my friend Kayla & I wanted to see the super bloom. It has been on my bucket list for a long time! We came from Ventura, with our 2 dogs, one of which is a 4 month old puppy. It was spring break & wouldn't you know we spiked fevers the day we left, determined to go although we felt pretty terrible. This place was absolutely PERFECT. The beds were dreamy & we had everything we needed. The property is so lovely & dealing with the flu with two young dogs was fine, they ran around all day while we ate popsicles in the giant bed & watched movies. The kitchen had everything we needed. When researching places, I was delighted to see that they welcomed dogs & even had poop bags & treats. The local hotels were about $85/night & all I can say is that I am so happy we found this place. We did make it to the park & we plan on returning next year. This is so much a home away from home & I can't wait to go back. The owners are so nice & accommodating. Thank you!!!
This rental was exactly what we wanted and needed- something remote and away from the city’s hustle and bustle with a desert feel. Chavonne was kind, helpful, and so accommodating. The home was clean, serene, and peaceful. Thank you so much!!!
Neat place tucked away in a desert setting. Everything was covered down to items for making breakfast.
We were in the area for softball and this was a great place to come back to unwind, cook, and get out of the heat. It really felt like a 2nd home. Chavonne was super on top of things and was always there if we needed anything. We were able to BBQ, play board games, watch tv, host friends, roast marshmallows, cook meals inside (beats eating out all the time). Lots of elbow room. Beds were super comfy too. Would stay again if given the opportunity!
We are a retired couple from San Jose who were traveling with our dog to Yucca Valley. We were looking for a halfway stop-over place and, as luck would have it, we learned we had some long-lost relatives in Rosamond whom we had never met! Our trip soon became quite magical. We found Chavonne & Don's wonderful 2-acre ranch with 300 fruit trees and its big wraparound porch. Could this be Auntie Em's place on the way to Oz? We were met by our delightful hosts who are truly kindred spirits and our forever friends since they helped us plan for our meeting with our new relatives. It was perfect! Now the Ranch: WOW! It is absolutely everything you could ever wish for in a vacation rental & we rent at least four a year so we know. Spotlessly CLEAN! Two really COMFY bedrooms with KING-sized beds and lovely linens. TV's - 3 of them both bedrooms & living room! Wonderful hot shower. Free WIFI. BIG kitchen fully-equipped with FULL-SIZE stove and refrigerator plus bright red countertop alliances & an adorable red rooster theme...so inviting for breakfast & you will find your BREAKFAST IN THE FRIDGE! A breezeway off the kitchen & that wonderful fenced WRAPAROUND porch covered by an arbor which our dog staked out as his favorite spot for viewing the acreage. Since it was our first trip to Rosamond, we were particularly fascinated by all the historical photographs throughout the ranch house. Chavonne & Don are members of the Kern Antelope Historical Society and know Rosamond like only old-timers know the area! Our only regret: we could not stay longer than our one night stop-over since we had commitments in Yucca Valley the following day but WE WILL RETURN! This will be our home-away-from-home in the High Desert and we want to spend more time with Chavonne & Don! Your Rosamond Ranch is truly a gem! THANK YOU so much for your warm hospitality & our lovely Rosamond memories!
