Oak Harbor, Washington
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
This is a cozy, 2 bedroom cottage within walking distance to Deception Pass State Park. Its directly across the street from Cornet Bay Marina and the front yard is a stone's throw from the beach.
- We have the largest lot in the neighborhood (fully fenced with gates) and it includes fruit trees, a garden, hammock, fire pit, picnic tables and a BBQ.
-Covered and walled-in sun room functions as extended living space and has great views.
-The house was remodeled recently (fall 2022). The place is cozy, minimal and rustic, not lux, but has everything you need for a fun trip.
-The two bedrooms have queen beds.
-The living room has a large L-shaped couch that can sleep an adult and also there is a TV with Direct TV.
-5 guest maximum
-Full kitchen and bathroom with everything you need for a group as well as a small dining table.
-There is a laundry room attached to the garage outside if you need and we have lots of room for parking.
-We just set up an outdoor shower. It's awesome in the sun!
-There is a chicken coop next to the orchard area. We'll give you fresh eggs during your stay. The owner, my mom, will need to stop by daily to feed and water them and hand you some eggs. She will work out when she will stop by depending on when its convenient for you.
There is so much to do outside in the immediate surrounding area or within a short drive. The town of Oak Harbor is 15 minutes south for groceries, wine, antiquing, etc. Deception Pass Bridge is within trail walking distance or about a 5 minute drive (literally around the corner), Anacortes is 20 minutes north. Fishing, crabbing, hiking, biking, kayaking or just plain relaxing are at your fingertips. There is a boat launch and dock right down the street. The hike up Goose Rock is great, which is the big hill on the other side of the water from the marina, and the top of Mt. Erie is about a 15 minute drive away on Fidalgo Island.
This is an easy 1.5 hour drive from Seattle or Vancouver B.C. so its just far enough from the cities to experience the rustic island vibe but not be too far away. Perfect for a long weekend or a couple weeks to decompress. You can also take the Mukilteo to Clinton ferry if you're coming from the south end but ferry reservations are recommended in the summer due to high usage and potentially long wait times. Its a nice trip but plan ahead to reduce travel time!
**Dogs may be approved on a case by case basis and require a $40 pet cleaning fee per dog if approved.
Please note:
-There is a Navy base on the island. Every once in a while you may see or hear a jet in the sky. Typically its not noticeable but you never know. If you are especially sensitive to noise please consider this.
-Kayaks may be used in good weather after signing liability waivers. Please discuss with us in person.
-Since we are out in the county and across from the ocean, we are on a septic system and well. Please go easy on the toilet. The water can have a funky smell at times but is fine for showering, clean up, etc. Everyone in the neighborhood has the same water. We have a big bottled spring water dispenser and also bottled water for every guest.
We enjoyed the house and beautiful surroundings for 5 days in November while visiting family nearby. Home is comfortable and has amazing access to one of the most beautiful places on earth. We are grateful for this family to share such a special place.
if you have a doggy and wanna be close to the park and bridge this was a pretty dang ideal place to stay. nice, quiet neighborhood. very nice that they have plenty of fresh water for consumption as the tap water does have the sulfur-y problem that lots of places have as you go north towards the islands. the bed that we slept in was plenty comfy and the kitchen had all that we needed for preparing meals. would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful spot to take in the gardens while relaxing on a hammock, eating outside at one of the many tables available and explore Deception Pass Park. We enjoyed our time here and received a wonderful welcoming tour that made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Will stay again when opportunity knocks.
Adorable little house with a fantastic view! We come to Washington every summer and this house, by har, has been one of our favorites! It was clean, well stocked with everything you’d need and very cute. It felt like you were visiting family. Terrill met us and explained everything. She is great at communicating promptly. There is a number of things we liked about it. One, is, of course, the ocean view. Another great thing in August is the garden with fresh veggies and apple and plum trees. The canoes were a hit with our kids. This was a quiet and tranquil vacation. Just what we needed to get away from busy city life!
Property is great and interesting. beats the typical tourist housing. If you're looking for 5 star acccomodations this is not it but it is a very pleasant experience Location is off high traffic path and you have a large yard and garden to wander, great views from the front porch beds were very good
MiMi and Terrill are the best. Great prep prior to arrival, and the welcome party from MiMi was second to none. This house and all the amenities are all you need for a wonderfully peaceful stay in the area. We met one of the neighbors and he liked that most people head into Deception State Park and leave the other side of the pass to the locals; could not agree more. We will definitely head back next year. Thank you MiMi!!
Very peaceful location. Steps from Deception Pass Park. The garden was beautiful. Could have stayed in the hammock all day! Fresh berries for breakfast and a few left to feed the mama deer and her babies. Highly recommend. Mimi met us to give us the keys and her son answered all of our questions quickly.
Enjoyed the stay. Very quiet and relaxing. Good birding opportunities. Lots of blue heron, eagles, osprey, black swift and many more. Saw Orca whales, harbor seals and porporsies. Thanks
What a lovely view from the living and porch of the marina and waterfront. We loved having use of the kayaks! She had a very well stocked kitchen which we really loved. She was very welcoming and quick to respond. We would gladly stay here again. It was like staying at your grandmother's house. My only suggestion would be to delete some stuff (ornamentations, wine glasses, table & counter top items) as it was hard to find any place to store our own groceries and luggage.
Great place to come and relax. Quiet setting with the state park just a few minutes walk away. Place is outfitted with everything you need and the host was awesome. It was great to arrive at a super clean place. Great for kids and dog friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
