Set well back from the road on 4.5 acres...birds, hawks, owls, turkeys, deer, dragonflies, trees, lawns, flowers, grape arbor, wisteria, and, seasonally, apples, pears, blackberries, and persimmons. The level walk-out from the living room to the patio and garden provides comfortable, private in and outdoor living during spring, summer and fall. The winters are cozy too with the wood burning fireplace and a sofa bed in the living room. Our place is not luxury but very comfortable for a relaxed vacation.
Our place is perfect for two couples and people with children. Each of the two bedrooms have queen beds and are on opposite ends of a hallway. One has a full bath with a European style clawfoot tub and hand held shower. The other bath has a stall shower. The living room has a double sofa bed. We have a paknplay and plenty of toys for the under 8 crowd. The backyard, though unfenced, is well defined and excellent for play. There are two acres of woods with paths on the hillside.
Our formal dining area seats six easily with immediate access to the bacyard with lawn and Sycamore trees. The Kitchen is fully equipped and has stainless steel appliances including a convection range, dishwasher, refrigerator.
The private back yard of the house has a trellised patio, a lawn area, and steps to the upper acres. It is great for viewing birds and other wildlife. It is often chilly in the evening so bring a jacket to enjoy our deck.
Beautiful garden with gravel paths and pretty flowers in the spring and summer. Don't forget to check out the stone waterway at the south end of the property. In summer it feels like a different climate- a nice cool place to relax on hot days. An extra pair of flat shoes are a good idea for walking on the gravel paths. This property was named Owl Hill because the owls will call back and forth to each other from the tree tops.
Approximately 15 minutes to Bodega Bay. Less than 10 minutes to the town of Freestone, Osmosis Spa, and Wild Flour Bakery and within minutes to some of the best West Sonoma County wineries.
We try to offer a great value both in and out of season. Check out our off season and long term rates. We have had several monthly guests in the last few years. An easy house to "settle in". We are a Bay Area family, grandparents of three families each with two kids. All of us enjoy this vacation home when we can get away. Not luxury but very comfortable for a relaxed vacation.
The cottage shares a driveway with caretaker unit that is downhill and facing away from the vacation rental. Sonoma county TOT certificate #679N

Great spot. Very quiet calm clean
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The cottage is everything you could ask for and more. The property is is private and so quiet. Dawn is a wonderful host. We look forward to returning in the future.
The cute cottage has everything you need, is comfortable and quiet. The host communicates so you aren't left wondering what's up.
My sister and I had a wonderful stay. The house is very comfortable, and immaculately clean and well equipped. Our favorite part of the property was the deck which looked out at the trees and open space beyond. We were delighted with the doe and her twins who visited in the morning and evening and loved the birds which were ever present. We were in the very quiet and peaceful country and also just a short ride into the town of Sebastapol. The host was responsive to our questions and correspondence. I'd love to visit again.
We saw a baby fawn, deer and many quail while enjoying the deck with our coffee. Our only regret was that we couldn't spend more time in this charming house. We were spending our days and evenings at a reunion with family. The beds were very comfortable.
Very quiet and peaceful. Pictures do not do it justice, it is so beautiful.
Our family came to stay to visit our son’s new restaurant in Sebastopol! It’s called The Redwood! You should go and stay at this VRBO!
What a lovely rustic setting! The house was quite comfortable - I was impressed that all details for a comfortable stay were addressed, we were not at all wanting. The house was just as pictured. The kitchen had all cooking utensils and serving dishes we needed. We enjoyed all the comforts of home. The temperature was quite cool, so we made use of the wood burning fireplace. Beds were comfortable. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting the Russian River valley and surrounding area.
This was comfortable and the owner communicated well. The binder is sooo helpful. We had a glitch with the wifi only in that our devices would not save the password so most every time we had to sign back in. I knew how to use the mini splits but my cousins had no clue so info in the binder on settings would be helpful for some. We all shared the one shower as the master tub had a hand held showerhead but no high mounting or curtains so they would have had to sit in the tub to use it. The patio is a lovely setting!
Dawn was responsive to any and all questions, property was clean and as advertise. Heat worked wonderfully as the first couple days were a wee bit chilly. Comfortable, country cottage. Met our needs for our visit, would stay again in the future.
The host was very communicative and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Easy check in, spacious rooms, working fireplace a plus.
Comfortable, well equipped Cottage in the Sebastopol woods. This was actually my second stay here. And I will come again.
Great, out of town, quiet location
We had a wonderful stay in this charming cottage. It is very private with beautiful, green surrounds. We even saw a few deer. There is ample indoor and patio seating. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking items and serving dishes. As our Thanksgiving hosts unexpectedly got Covid, we were able to cook our Thanksgiving meal and enjoy the holiday. The owner was lovely and helpful. Would love to stay again!
Dawn's property is beautiful, very quiet and secluded. The house has everything you need and I think the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Unfortunately the weather was too chilly to take advantage of the porch, but having the fireplace was great!
Quiet. Enjoyed our stay.
I think this was the most comfortable and relaxing VRBO ever. It was super clean, the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed, the bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were roomy. The porch was a beautiful place to relax, and the location was quiet and relaxing. It is remote, so if you want to be in the center of activity this might not be a place for you, but it is a wonderful country get-away. I hope we can stay again someday.
This place was clean and quiet. Very wooded area and very relaxing. Dawn the owner was very accommodating. It is in the country but not far from all the wineries and restaurants you want to go too. Price was reasonable as well. We all would stay again:)
Very pleasant stay. Quaint and clean.
Looking for quiet relaxing place this is the place. Beds are comfy and it's nice having two bathrooms. The host was great in communication and making sure everything is good.
Perfect base for friends visiting Sonoma County wineries. Appreciated the cleanliness and central location, loved the porch for easy dinners after brutal days of wine tasting. Will come again.
An older quaint Cottage well-supplied backyard is fabulous you don't want to leave. Probably the only thing I would change is the back toilet that is too low and a garbage disposal otherwise everything else was fine and we really enjoyed our stay there it's peaceful and quiet and when you go to bed you just are gone until the next morning when you wake up to the birds chirping I would definitely recommend it if you want to recharge your batteries. Beautiful property in a lovely setting. Private and serene, a stay at Owl Hill is an antidote to the cares of the world. Proximity to wonderful vineyards and restaurants helps too. :)
Enough space for family of 4. Ocean 30min drive. Redwoods 30min drive. Napa 1 hour drive worked out for our family. Thank You
Sebastopol was a great little town to stay near close to many wineries and to visit the coast! The house was perfect for the 3 of us and the outside looks like the botanical gardens. Only complaint we should have stayed a couple more days!
