Victoria, Texas
Our 2 story Cottage is located on a beautiful lot in a quiet wooded neighborhood about 12 min from downtown Victoria & only 5 min from Coleto lake & Raisin L Ranch. It's situated at the end of a cul de sac, next to a wooded area home to lots of wildlife. Our Farmhouse inspired, 3bd/2ba home is so cozy & comfy with a fully stocked kitchen, large entertainment room & full laundry. The backyard has a small BBQ & firepit. WiFi available. The cottage is lovely, but the wildlife is truly amazing!
WE DO NOT ACCEPT THIRD-PARTY BOOKINGS:
The VRBO registered person who makes the booking must be staying at the Cottage.
WILDLIFE:
This wooded lot is home to a lot of wildlife. None are gentle and all are timid of humans. The best way to watch and enjoy them all is to respect them and be as calm and quiet as possible. Watch them from inside the cottage or sitting quietly on the back porch. We feed the wildlife every morning. The deer get their corn in the driveway, and the squirrels, turkeys, and wild birds’ feeders are in the back wooded area, so don’t be surprised if you glimpse me, or my husband walking by to refill the feeders and/or the watering troughs as needed. We do promise to be quick and to always respect your privacy. Just open the blinds early so you can enjoy the view!
The wild birds and squirrels are always around, the deer come for corn in the driveway every morning and they will pass through periodically throughout the day and night. The turkeys often spend hours here and sometimes they just pass through depending on their seasons. There is also a possibility of catching a glimpse of a cottontail rabbit, jackrabbit, possum, racoon, gray fox, skunk, coyote, bobcat, or wild boar.
The deer will bear their fawns starting in about mid-May through July or so. Don’t be surprised to see a tiny one lying all alone hiding somewhere on the property. Try not to disturb or frighten it, this is normal behavior. Mama knows where it is, and she will come back for it when it is time to nurse.
There is a nesting pair of Barred Owls that are here daily and nightly. During mating season, they sometimes make a lot of strange noises, mostly at night. I always say it sounds like the trees are full of monkeys! Google Barred Owl sounds and you’ll probably agree with me
THE NOT SO DESIRABLE WILDLIFE:
And lastly, let us not forget that there are also lots of rodents, insects, snakes, frogs, lizards, and geckos that live here as well. They are part of the whole wildlife experience.
We do use insecticides regularly inside the cottage, but never outside, as
SECURITY:
There are two 24/7 motion activated audio/video security cameras on site. One is overlooking the driveway, and the second is a video doorbell at the front entrance.
There is also a third 24/7 motion activated audio/video game camera located next to the bird bath area along the side of the cottage. It faces the woods, away from the cottage, only to capture wildlife.
The house was clean, comfortable, and the beds were comfy. The owner was quick to answer any questions and graciously set up a pack n play with built in bassinet/changing table and a sound machine. Bottle water and some snacks were also available to us for our stay. We were in town for a wedding and this adorable house was a perfect location in a quiet neighborhood and close to the wedding. It was quiet and we loved seeing all the deer and ducks around the property! If I ever happen to be in Victoria area again we would absolutely stay here again.
Second year staying with Beth. The unit is perfect for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we enjoyed the weekend on Coleto Creek lake. Thanks!
We went for a family reunion there and it was just 5 min down the street. So that made it even better and the deer and turkeys on the property was a treat. Thanks Judy
We had a wonderful home to stay in just about 5 miles from Victoria’s main shopping area. The play room was a big hit with the 8 year old. Large TV, foosball. and games. Sleeps 8 easily. Comfortable beds . The deer come early morning and dusk. Better than TV. Easy access to Beth , the owner.
Excellent
Was extremely surprised by how welcoming it felt when we opened the door. Decorations and chacuterie board made to look like a candy cane after a long trying drive was more than welcome. Thank you!
The cottage was perfect in every way! Adorably decorated and stocked with more amenities than expected! Would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing, comfortable getaway.
So peaceful and tucked into a little corner of the edge of the woods. So much wildlife to enjoy! The fire pit in the backyard was my favorite place to hang out!
This was our second time to stay at this property, this time with Hogh School Friends for our 40th High School Reunion. The house was so welcoming (same as with our first stay) that our friends all commented that this was the best property we have stayed at. Beth was an awesome host and we got to meet her and her husband while there. This will be our first place to look at staying when in Victoria. Kudos once again Beth…
We stayed with Beth's VRBO while in town visiting family in friends. When you walk into the house it is so wonderfully designed with attention to every detail up thru nightlights that come on when they need to, beautiful decor, and it just calls out that you are Welcome here. Take a few steps in and see that the coffee bar has fresh baked cookies on it, and an awesome fruit tray and dip is chilled and waiting in the refrigerator, along with a full ice bin. A wonderful king bed on main floor had me sleepin' like Rip Van Winkle in the Catskills (Very Comfortable). The deer and fawns, turkeys and a little fox were welcome neighbors surrounding the property thru every window adding to the welcomeness of the home. Beth was awesome and made sure everything was going okay with the stay. When we make our annual pilgrimage back to Victoria we will always try to stay here it was just that awesome. Kudos Beth...
Recently completed a 12 month home build and looking for short get away close by to chase crappie on Coleto Creek. Surprised to find a listing so close, and based on pics it looked excellent. This was one of those deals where the actual place was nicer than the great listing. We arrived to a beautiful setting , and fresh cookies and a meat and cheese tray awaited us. Beth walked over and introduced herself and her husband. Everything was perfect the entire weekend as the property is full of wildlife as we watched deer all weekend. Fishing was great and Beth saved the day by allowing us to have a late check out on Sunday , which allowed us to box another 60 crappie before calling it a weekend. Great accommodations and host!
Beth was an absolutely wonderful hostess. The cottage was so cute & everything + was supplied. This is a totally relaxing location at the end of the road so there is no traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which included watching all the deer.
