Coastal Retreat w/ Grill: 4 Mi to Dtwn Cape Coral!

There was great communication throughout our stay and the house was welcoming and well equipped with anything that we could need while on vacation. Our favorite part of the home was definitely the pool and lanai. The neighborhood was clean and safe and centrally located around stores, restaurants, and beaches! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

The house was great and had all the amenities we were looking for however a couple of the items didn’t work as we had hoped. Having a washer and dryer was important and the washer didn’t spin out the water and needs to be replaced or fixed in my opinion. We tried washing towels and it did not spin hard enough to remove the water. It took at least 240 minutes to dry 4 towels. I’m guessing that is why some of the bath towels are smelly as they sit in the dryer damp. Some of the clothes we washed also came out dirty like what they were when they went in. The pool water was very warm the majority of the week however the last full day the water dropped to 82 degrees and we asked the property manager to assist in getting the temp up and we were told it could not be done because it was cool the night before and that day. It was 74 degrees outside and the pool had a heater! I also had inquired about the pool temperature as there was a review about cold water that was posted after we rented the home and we were told it was heated by solar AND electricity. Very frustrating when this was a priority in selecting our rental. Overall the home worked however I wouldn’t rent again based on the pool temperature issue.

The house is a decent set up for multiple people and is centrally located for many activities. The pool and patio are nice too, except one of the screen is ripped- hopefully fixed before the next guest! Don’t expect much else though- the cable is very basic, the internet not the best ( tried it work from home a couple days and very slow) , kitchen amenities are minimal- no cooking basics including no salt and pepper, had to buy paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent. With flying in, these are things I’d like to know before renting a place- I’d probably would have looked elsewhere for this price!

We stayed at this property during the winter break - December 24, 2020 - January 2, 2021. First note that the house is kinda on a busy street - so backing the car out of the driveway can be challenging at busy times. The house was fine - as it was a place to sleep and stay. However, the house is very dated. It kinda felt like we just walked into Grandma's house from the late 80's-early 90's. We had everything we needed it just felt old and tired - thin towels, thin sheets, old dishes and glasses (no good knives for chopping/cooking), not a lot of kitchen cooking supplies. Decor/furniture was dated and old. Upon arrival one of the bathrooms toilets was completely clogged (with poop!) and unusable for a few days until the rental company could come out and fix it. The cable is a joke - it stopped working and then you only get the major channels (ABC, NBC, CBS) so don't expect any sports, news or kids channels. The pool is not heated - it's only heated by a solar cover so don't expect a pool heater in the winter months. And when you go into the garage to use the laundry - the owners car is in there - so yeah it felt like we were staying at Grandma's Florida house. We kept joking that everytime we came home, she was gonna pop out and say hi! The pool/seating area is probably the best area in the house (tho we never used the pool because it was too cold and again it was only a solar cover to heat the pool so don’t expect a heated pool). Thankfully we had friends staying in Cape Coral too about 5 minutes from us so we spent a lot of time at their place to eat and swim. Honestly, we only slept, eat breakfast and maybe had 2 take out dinners at the house - so it was fine but don't expect Coastal Retreat. It really should be Welcome to Grandma's 1980's house!

First day there was a LARGE cockroach swimming in the master bathroom toilet. Pool pump and heater were broken. Day 3 I woke up at 6:00am to a 2 1/2 inch cockroach crawling out the sleeve of my pajamas!!! Contacted property manager and VRBO , packed up and left immediately!!! Still fighting to get a refund!!!
