This is a great house, if you like the quiet and nature. Zero traffic noise, very little neighbor noise. The donky sounds off a few times a day, and I heard a dog, once. This is our second stay, and will continue to rent, as long as it's available. Eric
Absolutely loved the property! Quirky in a great way, super comfortable, clean, spacious, and thoughtful. We had a spectacular stay and the only complaint I have is that we had to leave at the end of our weekend! Definitely recommend this this for any friend gathering or family activity.
1. I booked the Huckleberry House in Fort Bragg through Vacasa from 8/2-8/8. When we lived there on the third morning, we found one of the patio light bulbs was stolen. Because the house was so lonely in the quiet forest area, we contacted Vacasa for a solution and protection. The Vacasa said the only thing that they can do is suggest that we call the police. 2. The police arrived on the third day around 2 pm. They discovered the space, placed a camera, and said maybe some more vital cross the forest from the road and took off the bulb. 3. We felt scared and decided to check out early. After that, Vacasa contacted us and said the bulb the neighbor who took it because the light insect his sleep. But we never noticed the need to turn off the light before 10 pm. 4. On the listing, the owner said the house has sparse cell signal, but when you booked the place, and before one day you arrived, you will receive a notification that said cell phones and GPS are not reliable in the house. That is impossible if you want to remote work and pick up some work phones. And if there is a wildfire, you can not get the notice from the emergency message. 5. This house is located on a very end private route. The end means you drive 0.6 miles to the end and pass several empty homes and abandoned vehicles. 6. If you want to have a party with friends, be sure you can finish your talk and BBQ before 10 pm. This means you enjoy a vacation, and the neighbors near this house want a quiet place. 7. Bring some weapons with you if you want a safe place because Vacasa will do nothing to protect you.
This place is a nice house tucked away in the red woods with a large spacious yard down a long dirt trail that dead ends to this house, so I felt comfortable allowing my kids go out and explore and run around. The house furnishings are nice and well kept up. The art in the house not pictured in the listing is pretty at times and eccentric and obscure for others. The only cons I have is the dirt road in is one way and had a few times we had to back up to allow someone get through. It also seems people camp or live in trailers on this road and there is some abandon cars park away in the woods on the way in, kind of creeped us out at first. The kitchen was limited on stock for cooking, I’d bring your own knifes (full and outdated) and if you wanted sheet pans or needed more than 4 drinking glasses bring those. Side note the exhaust fan in the bathroom near the bedrooms needs maintenance or replaced doesn’t work really well and gets a little musty in there after showers. All in all we had a great time.
If you want to try to hear a pin drop, this is the place for you.
i loved all about this house, nice location and very comfy
Just south of Fort Bragg, tucked away in the woods. Deer family barely left the front lawn. Cozy house with great kitchen, bbq and shower
Really enjoyed our stay, nuff said.
Loved our stay. Everything was wonderful. Plenty of room for the girls to play and have fun outside while we sat and enjoyed the deck and the beauty of the outdoors. The house was beautiful with enty of space. The bedrooms, very spacious and comfy. The downstairs beds were very hard a bit uncomfortable for the hubby and 14 year old. Do remember this home is at the very end of the road. What a treat when you arrive. My only regret was not booking it longer. We will definitely be back.
A very nice (secret) retreat at the end of a private road. Very quiet, rustic but comfortable. We didn't find the furnace too noisy (as another reviewer did), the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, spices, toaster, coffee makers, etc. (no dishwasher). The bedrooms were quiet and the water pressure in the shower superb. A couple of suggestions: add a screen to the window in the crow's nest--there's condensation up there. And the burner protectors on the grill are corroded and need replacing. All in all this is a great place.
