Stayed Sep 18, 2025Nice house well stocked with amenities and many delicious coffee choices. Comfy beds. Great walkable neighborhood to delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner options and metro which we used daily to visit Old Town Alexandria and DC! Would definitely book again if visiting the area again!

Stayed Jul 20, 2025Wonderful in so many ways. So many nice touches. We loved the decor and the thoughtfulness of so many details. We had 3 main issues. First, the upstairs shower is in serious need of updating and felt like a cheap rental apt from my 20s and the shower head was so low my husband and teen boys had to shower in the basement. Second, the grass was so high in the backyard that we couldn’t use the fire pit or play cornhole. Third, the kitchen was difficultly small. One person at a time. And it serves as the passage to the basement. We worked it out, but 6 people in the house would be tough. Just making sure people can make informed decisions. Despite these issues, we greatly enjoyed our stay and Mark’s ability to host well. It was convenient for our DC activities and had great food nearby. The washer and dryer were a huge help. We would consider staying again. It would be nice though if the basement bedroom had some sort of shelf to serve as a nightstand, and had a smaller table in the room. We loved the August Home door lock app. And the variety of coffee was fun. The house felt very clean. The fan on the back deck kept bugs away and made for a pleasant sit even in mid 80s weather in the evening.

Stayed Jul 18, 2025Our church leadership team had a weekend retreat at this property. The house was cozy and met our needs well. Updated appliances and TVs. Needed a little attention to detail regarding cleanliness, but was an overall excellent stay...would definitely stay again.

Stayed Jun 26, 2025The pictures in the VRBO listing do not depict the property as we found it - in sad need of maintenance and renovation. The house if very cramped and small for the number of guests who supposedly could be accommodated. And the back yard and deck were practically unusable. It appeared no yard work had been done for quite some time and the deck was in disarray. The most troubling problem, though, was the inadequacy of the HVAC system to make the house comfortable. The upstairs rooms were very hot while the basement was like a meat locker. The owner clearly recognizes the problem since the main upstairs bedroom has a window AC unit (not depicted in the pictures) and there was a large floor fan blocking the entrance to the other upstairs bedroom. The basement bathroom shower curtain had mold/mildew and the toilet paper holder was broken. While the proximity to Mt. Vernon Avenue and Del Ray in Alexandria is very convenient, the total cost of the VRBO rental, including required fees, totaling almost 1750 for three nights, was excessive, considering the quality of the accommodations.

Stayed May 26, 2025I hosted out of town guests and we enjoyed the house. Mark was attentive and helped us out with a TV glitch that we had. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well-stocked, and we had plenty of towels. We used the deck, and enjoyed the neighborhood, but felt that the yard could have been maintained better.

Stayed Apr 22, 2025This house was located in a quiet, beautiful and friendly neighborhood. It took about 15 min to walk to the metro. There were several good restaurants between the metro and the house where we could stop to eat on our way back to the house after a day of sight seeing. Aldi and Walgreen were also very close to the house. We loved the coffee!! Mark was very attentive to our needs and quick to respond. We would most definitely stay in this house again!

Stayed Nov 26, 2024Our visit to our daughter’s home in Alexandria for theThanksgiving holiday was made super special by our stay at Mark’s house. Mark made the processes of check in and out easy and was very attentive during our stay. The house was roomy and well equipped for our adult family and in a friendly, well kept neighborhood with ample street parking. Having a fenced in backyard for our small dogs was extremely convenient. We would definitely like to stay at Mark’s again on future visits to Alexandria.

Stayed Sep 25, 2024Our family loved our stay at this house; it was located conveniently close to restaurants and stores, and was a short 15 minute walk from Braddock Station. We visited all the DC monuments and museums during our stay, and really appreciated how well outfitted this house was. It had comfortable beds, furniture, kitchen appliances, and plenty of awesome coffee that we took advantage of each morning. Highly recommend this for families visiting DC that want to be nearby but still in a family friendly, quiet neighborhood. We walked to dinner at local restaurants most nights and really enjoyed the local spots.

Stayed Aug 21, 2024We stayed as a family of 4 for 3 days and enjoyed every moment we spent in the house. We had some good memories from Alexandria in the past and decided to stay in the city while taking care of our daughter’s college relocation in DC. Commute was ok and we found the house a nice, comfortable and welcoming place to get back to from a day full of adventures in DC. Kitchen is extraordinarily well stock and ready for you to enjoy cooking and serving. Huge Collection of high quality coffees and equipment to brew your heart out… a nice back yard table to enjoy your morning coffee and evening… clean, spacious and fully furnished bedrooms, two great bathrooms with well stock towels and soaps and shampoo for an entire tribe… sparkling clean sheets.. large screen TV sets in each room… The house was inviting you to stay and enjoy your stay. The neighborhood is calm, clean and great with store fronts and restaurants in walking distance (5mins). The host was/is super nice and helpful and communicative, adding some personal touch to the nice experience that our stay was. We are going back, and I recommend you try it too.
