Stayed Mar 17, 2026As we spent more time at the place, we found countless safety issues. Only one of 3 smoke detectors worked. One had a frozen test button the the other did not have a battery. We found 2 or 3 electrical outlets missing covers, the dryer had a disgusting accumulation of lint from previous users, one frying pan was terribly scorched, and we talked among ourselves about the egress in case of a fire. Kitchen right next to main entrance door, so if there were a fire blocking that door, where is the 2nd exit? We found a door in a walk in closet with a sign EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY ALARM WILL SOUND IF DOOR IS OPENED.This door opened into another interior space with a double door about 5 feet away. Unfortunately those doors were padlocked from the outside. A little later we decided to document with pictures and video, and was started by the landord, who immediately accused me of going to steel his fishing poles that were stored there. When I told him I was just looking for a 2nd way out, and he pointed to an unmarked door, down a corridor of washing machine, dryer and other assorted stuff, and an unmarked step down that would surely trip you in the dark. He also accused me of setting him up for a lawsuit which is ludicrous. You should really do a site visit and check all the rental units in this building, as there are probably other safety violations/issues that could implicate vrbo if there was a fire in this old wood structure and someone dies.

Stayed Apr 10, 2026Thank you for a delightful stay in Cedar Key. Your home is just lovely and so clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the art festival and watching the birds on the canal. We look forward to our next visit.

Stayed Nov 26, 2025Our family enjoyed this house on the water. Cedar Key is a very laid back, no worries town. We had everything we needed to make our Thanksgiving trip memorable. Misty and Chad are excellent hosts. They were available when we had questions. Everything was as described. Being able to sit on the front porch in the morning and watching the sunrise over the water, then sunsets on the dock. Ah….close enough for an easy walk or golf cart ride into town. The beds were so comfortable. Plenty of towels, sheets and blankets. Thankfully, as we had a cold front! We would stay here again. It was everything we needed. Also, pet friendly. When we go to Cedar Key, we go for the nature of the west coast and this house met our needs.
