Great owner very quick to respond. Highly recommend this property! We miss the sound of the flowing river; extremely tranquil and relaxing. ?
The home was not cleaned properly. The spoon rest in the kitchen was greasy. Food particles in the cutlery tray, crumbs in the toaster. Clothes left in the bureau's. Outside patio was overgrown with weeds and patio cushions were moldy. We stayed a few days opted to leave when we found another place to stay. We were refunded some of our money.
Property could use some updates/repairs. Great location to access CT Berkshires.
We had a great stay in Bantam. The house is full of an eclectic mix of antiques and art work. The house is set far from the road and has a wonderful brook running behind it. The vibe is funky and charming. The owners were super responsive and nice. Bantam is a great base to explore the many beautiful towns in the area. The White Memorial Conservation Center is a few minutes away and has many shaded lovely trails. We walked our dogs there everyday.
We did not stay because we did not think listing was as advertised. Laura refunded us immediately.
Lovely home by the river , excellent communication from Laura. We enjoyed our time in CT and would have stayed longer. Great experience.
Bantam (just outside Litchfield) is a magnificent area during the autumn. The trees around the property and in the entire area were resplendent with color and it was a joy to walk in the parks, preserves, and even in some of the streets nearby. We have stayed in many VRBO/Home Away residences over the years, and we have never encountered an owner who was more available and responsive. The owner, Laura, and her brother, Steve, were moments away both in spirit and reality. The house itself is attached, somewhat quaint, and a bit older than some. It is, at the same time, quite comfortable. It was great to have our lunches in the outside enclosure and to hear and see the Bantam River flow as the colorful leaves fell.
My 10 year old son, puppy and I spent a month at the property and had a great time. The property is really private, beautiful and even bigger than we thought. There are a huge field, hammock, and lots of comfortable outdoor seating areas. The grounds are well-tended with lots of beautiful wildflowers growing. There is also a basketball hoop which my son used a lot. The house was pretty and very comfortable. We had lots of room to spread out and a very well-stocked kitchen. The caretakers/owners were wonderful. If there was anything we needed or asked about they would find it and were really very helpful and nice. The house is a walk to Bantam, near Arethusa, so you're walking distance to delicious ice cream, baked goods and restaurants, It's not a village where you would walk around town very much, but its very close driving distance to Litchfield and there is a lot to offer.
There are just a few steps down to the river. Sitting by the river and hearing the river from the house made this a very special place
