Stayed Feb 9, 2026The original email had a directions like that took us to a non-existent place in the middle of nowhere. We had to stop and try to find the actual address on our own. No clothing storage anywhere, no available closet or dresser of any kind. We had to live out of our suitcase the entire week. We were left 1/4 of a sponge to wash dishes. It did the job but geez, how expensive is a whole sponge? Overall, the place was clean, weird setup with bedroom downstairs and outside. The kitchen was well supplies with dishes, pans, etc. Couch was comfy.

Stayed Jun 28, 2025This is a very interesting house for people with a sense of fun. Staying here for a week was like living in a jungle gym! So, if you have a fun sense of play and can live in a very flexible way, this house is for you! The spacious living room is over the garage, and the bedroom is actually behind the garage, totally separate from the upstairs and is accessible via outside stairs. (See what I mean about having a sense of fun?) Along with the coqui frogs at night and the farm animal sounds from next door mixed with DEAD QUIET, it's a one of a kind experience!!

Stayed Apr 15, 2023Check in process was smooth and easy. The property had enough of the basic kitchen utensils to cook meals, the grill worked well. The small heaters provided quickly warmed up the cabin when needed. Bring plenty of fire starter if you plan to use the wood oven/ fireplace. The view from the back porch was as advertised, this felt like a very private getaway. We rarely heard noise from the neighboring properties. It would have been nice to have a few more outside seating options, especially to use the outside fire pit. Overall very happy with our stay and the proximity to the Park.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The listing is deceiving as it never mentions that the bedroom is downstairs, not accessible from the inside and not permitted by the county. This unit should be listed as a studio. The bedroom is a health hazard due to the strong mold smell. We had to sleep on the living room, there was no linens provided for the sofa bed, it was a really thin pad that you could feel all the metal base, so we had to ask for an air mattress. Not a chance of 4 adults staying. Also the listing doesn’t say the internet is via satellite which is really slow and can barely download e-mails and that you have to haul your trash. Vacasa should update the listing to reflect the reality of the property.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Did not enjoy our stay here. The fridge was broken, bathtub didn't drain, all dishes were dirty. Very dated house, smells stale, all the sheets had that old laundry scent. Layout was weird, completely separate bedroom entrance, at night it gets very creepy so we all just slept on a very bumpy n lumpy pullout couch On a plus side, listening to tree frogs was amazing

Stayed Mar 28, 2022The house is clean and well stocked with everything from toiletries to cooking pans and utensils and even a washer and dryer. The layout is a bit quirky as the living room, kitchen and main bath/shower upstairs with the bedroom down stairs. It's easy enough to move around and the eaves keep you dry from the rain (remember it's a rainforest) as you move around the property. The privacy is second to none as the house is tucked nicely into the jungle with only views of the roofs of neighboring homes. If you're booking this place it is because you want to spend time at Hawaii Volcano National Park. It's a very short drive to the park, great hiking and great views. It is also very close to the wonderful restaurants in the town of Volcano. There are also a couple of minimart type stores there. However, the closest grocery store would be FoodLand in Keaau. Not a bad drive as you shouldn't have to run to a major store except once. As long as you're okay with stairs and don't mind rain, the place is homey and a good place to stay. The only problem we had was the gate code we were given was incorrect. A phone call got us into the emergency set of keys as they couldn't figure out the gate code either. We also called about getting a later checkout. I gave up after waiting on the phone for over 40 minutes for anyone to talk to. This isn't the owners fault by any means but a reflection on Vacasa itself. If they offer 24 hour contact, someone should answer the phone.

Stayed Mar 21, 2022We had fun here- kinda rustic but comfortable. Should mention the house has an awkward layout with the bedroom downstairs next to the garage, so you have to walk outside in the rain to go back and forth. Loved the outdoor shower though.

Stayed Mar 8, 2022Advertised cost was not actual cost. By a long shot. We paid over $500 for one night. I understand the properties are more geared to multiple nights, but that was too much. Five times advertised price. Also, would have appreciated some way to know what keys were for what locks.
