We came for Folks Fest- grandpa, parents and two kids - and couldn’t have asked for a better place! From being in walking distance to Planet Bluegrass to cooking epic food (when not partaking at the festival) this was the best place to be for a long, music and community filled weekend.
This is a unique rental and we had a great time staying here during our wedding weekend in Lyons! The place was clean and comfortable. Great location in downtown Lyons - you can walk to many places!
The cabin is clean and amazingly well equipped. The kitchen is chef grade. Not really suited to young children as there are may antiques. Andy, the host was very responsive without being intrusive.
The host had no Vrbo record of my booking and needed time to clean the house. I finally checked in at 8:30. I broke a window that shouldn’t have been opened and let him know. I asked for WiFi, parking and lock box info and asked him to light the stove pilot light in the morning. He did, and I thanked him as the next day I planned a small baby shower. I could explain the exchange that followed but I’d rather use his own snarky words: “Sorry, I don’t think my insurance allows parties. Items always get broken and I have a lot of antiques in that house.” I replied: “Oh my. There will be ten sober women having breakfast before the festival outside 9:30-11:00 tops.” And this charming fellow texted me: “Ten sober women? How can you assure me there won’t be cake in my Parisian carpet? Trust me, I love to party with the fury of 10 adult men & all about guests having a blast but I’m not into any problems” I hate conflict so I canceled the shower and I tried to let it go. The next afternoon a fuse blew and when I asked him to fix it he texted this: “Waiting for the house to blow up. Let me know when that happens too. I’m at the festival as well. I’ve never had so many issues with any guest. What are the chances you could move out tonight to a motel? You are the only ones I’ve ever had any issues with. I’ll give you tonight for free if you can just vacate. What a nightmare.” This guy was an awful host and ruined what should have been a joyous vacation.
We had a lovely stay in Lyons with this gem of a house! Halfway between Boulder/Denver and Estes Park/Rocky Mountains. The host Andy is wonderful and gives great recommendations!
