Georgetown, Maine
3 Bedroom cottage overlooking the quintessential Maine working harbor of Five Islands. Watch lobster boats come and go while enjoying beautiful views of the harbor out to the Sheepscot River from the open concept great room and the cozy screened-in porch. Tie your kayak to the dock out front and explore the beautiful coast from the water. Georgetown has local restaurants, is the home of Reid State Park with miles of sandy beaches and is close to midcoast towns of Bath and Boothbay Harbor which offer plenty of restaurants and shopping. The beauty and pace of life in Georgetown will have you coming back again and again!
We loved the location and layout of this lovely house, especially the front screened-in porch overlooking the harbor. Beds weren't the comfiest, but plenty fine after a long day at the beach and sightseeing. Kitchen and house had everything we needed. The house doesn't have heating, so a few nights were a little chilly, but we were fine with some sweatshirts. We loved walking to the Five Islands Lobster and ice cream stand :) We hope to come back!
A bit more cleaning could be done, and some new mattresses would be great, but the spot is beautiful, the cottage is comfortable and quaint, and all the people that I encountered from the owner, workers at the general store, neighbors were all very friendly and nice. The owners were extremely accommodating and the harbor was lovely for my boat. The easy access to my boat was amazing.
Liked the location, although it wasnt close to the places we wanted to visit. However really enjoyed watching the lobster boats on the screened in porch. Close to Reid State Park. Not many people there this time of the year so it was very quiet. Would stay there again.
We stayed at this property in late August 2021. The check-in process was very easy and the manager responded very quickly when I texted her with a question. The kitchen was well-stocked with pans and utensils, and bottled water was provided, along with plenty of towels. We appreciated the state park pass that was provided with the rental, and enjoyed the close access to Reid State Park. The screened front porch was our favorite part of the property- we spent a lot of time sitting up there reading or watching the harbor. The cottage is set on. a hill, so you get a very nice view.
We had a nice week in Five Islands. The views from the screened in porch were fantastic. The bedrooms were all nice and we made use of the park pass which was appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked and the outside grill was serviceable. We did notice that there was a moderate amount of dog hair on the floors from a previous guest we would imagine, but it would have been nice to have a vacuum there to use so we could have cleaned up a bit more. We also had some difficulties getting the info about the unit before we came and only got the details about what to bring etc. less than 24 hours before our visit after having to send several emails asking for it. FYI, if you are a bigger person, the shower is a tight squeeze as well. It certainly is a nice rental for the price and we enjoyed our stay.
This charming, spacious home with fabulous ocean views, steps from Five Islands Lobster made our first post-Covid trip a winner. Wow!
Unbeatable location if you want to understand what it's like to live in a remote fishing village - terrific scenery and access. Host flexibly arranged kayaking, and was very persistent in resolving wifi issues caused by Internet provider. Very responsive. Unit is very basic, heating / cooling are minimal but the location is temperate in summer. Nearby walk takes you to preserve with access to ocean ledges / beaches, a must do!
Simple, but really nice house! We had such a wonderful week in Five Islands. Note that there is no dish washer and no washer/dryer in the house. The house was a little cold on chilly/rainy summer days.
We escaped from the city for two weeks in this adorable little throw-back cottage and couldn't have been happier. Kitchen is fully equipped and we took full advantage of the picnic table, outdoor area, and the dock - we rented kayaks for the week and went out every day into the harbor along with lots of walks and runs through Georgetown. The nearby cottages are close but we were lucky and had quiet neighbors. Wonderful to have the General Store and Five Islands Lobster just steps from our door. We liked the little bit of bustle. Very clean and comfortable. We will dream of the view from the front porch until we come back next year!
The cottage is wonderful, with a nice front porch and a terrific view of the Five Islands harbor. The cottage is well designed, comfortable and convenient. I would happily stay there again.
