Twin Lake, Michigan
This is cottage is the best of both worlds - both lakeside and trailside. It's ideal for the outdoor family who wants lake access for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Hart Lake (also known as Little Silver Lake) is an all sports lake. Included with this cottage is a canoe and three kayaks which you can take out and go fishing or cruise around the lake. The lakefront is intentionally left alone for fish and wildlife habitat - you'll have plenty of yellow lily pads and Illinois pondweed holding the bass or pike of your dreams! The floating dock is the perfect spot for launching kayaks and canoes, and docking your boat/jet ski which can be launched at the public access. This is not a sugar-sand beachfront, rather, it's been kept in its most natural state to attract creatures big and small.
The A-frame is uniquely situated at the trailhead of the Manistee National Forest, with miles upon miles of ATV/UTV & hiking trails, and small game and waterfowl hunting opportunities. This trail system connects with the Michigan State Snowmobile Trail, and can be the launch point of your adventure for ATV'ing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and waterfowl hunting on Unger Lake and others. Whitetail deer, turkey, owls, and many other critters are regular inhabitants of the trail system.
There is ample room for throwing a football and other outdoor games as the lot is very spacious. Pack light because also included are linens, towels, beach towels, all your paper needs, hard wood for fire pit, Wi-Fi, stocked kitchen, flat screen TV and basic cable.
This charming cottage is located only 15 minutes from Cedar Point's Michigan Adventure Amusement Park, 10 minutes from Stonegate Golf Club, 30 minutes from Double JJ Ranch (indoor water park for rainy days), 40 minutes from Silver Lake Sand Dunes, 20 minutes from Muskegon State Park and numerous other attractions, Cedar Point Michigan Adventure Amusement Park (19 minutes), local vegetable stand (4 minutes), local mini-market/grocery complete with everything you need including meat, cheese, candy, supplies, gas and more (6 minutes), seasonal fruit farms, pizza joint (8 minutes), local bar and restaurant (7 minutes), wineries/breweries (25-30 minutes). For the girls, shop in downtown Grand Haven or Whitehall (awesome gift, clothing and specialty food shops).
For nature lovers, the bird calls here are fantastic. This cottage is lovely for those who want a peaceful place to relax, read, hike, cook, or just be. This is an amazing place for kids to fish, swim, roast marshmallows around the camp fire and play on their own beach. Come stay with us!!
We loved this property - very spacious & comfortable.
Roomy, just what we needed.
Cute little house at the end of a dead end road. No traffic (which we loved). All 4 young adult & teen kids loved kayaking/canoeing on the lake! Just what we needed, quiet & relaxation.
The property was amazing. Great view of the lake, plenty of space, and amazing hosts. The property was exactly what we were looking for with plenty to do in the area and lots of great fishing!
This house on the lake was just right for our family to have a long weekend together. The weather was perfect and we had a great time taking the kayaks out, fishing, playing games, and taking walks. The house was cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed to make dinners together. Plenty of beds, and the basement bedroom was (wonderfully) freezing yet comfortable with all the extra blankets. Had a great time, would happily stay again!
Awesome property. Owners communicate very well. Our favorite part was definitely they kayaks and dock. The house come equipt with everything (literally everything) you need and clear instructions on how to do everything. You don't need much more than clothes for the week. Would definitely stay again.
This place is AMAZING! I would definitely book again!!
Very quiet and homey place. Had very clear instructions with check in and things regarding the place which was really helpful. Had plenty of supplies and was easy to cook in their kitchen!
Everything was perfect. My family gathers in the Twin Lake area every year, and the location was spot on. We were able to come and go and make it to all of the events. This beautiful cottage was well stocked with everything we needed, Thank you SAKS! We will definitely look you up again. Jean
Property was perfect for our group. Ice fishing weekend with college friends. Had planned on 10 people in our group but had couple last minute cancellations so we had 8 that stayed overnight for 3 nights. Plenty of room for everyone and all got a bed. Pictures don't show the basement but basically another family room down there with even more room. Was a little concerned about parking but hosts did a great job clearing snow so plenty of room to park. Also shoveled steps down to the lake which just made it easier to get down there with all our ice fishing equipment. Fishing was great. Host gave lots of info on that and communication with host was excellent. Went out to eat one night, Lefty & Romo's about 5 miles away back towards Muskegon. Very good pub food. Overall excellent and would recommend staying here.
Great getaway spot! Lots of room and very comfortable.
Ahhhhh! Close enough to everything you need, but, WOWZA! Went there to unplug, and that is exactly what we did. Gorgeous, lakefront, A-frame cottage with wonderful location at the end of a dead end street. The worst part was having to leave. Will definitely be back!
We created some great memories. We kayaked, rode on the trails, visited Lake Michigan, and played board games. It is a great location. A lovely, older home. It was stocked very well with everything you might need.
We book trips like these every year and of all the places we've been, this has been the most enjoyable. The cabin itself is actually more spacious than the pictures show. There was a second living area downstairs, with another TV and bathroom. In the pictures you see a charcoal grill, but they've since upgraded to a large propane grill. The kitchen is quite well stocked as far as pots/pans and utensils. Amenities such as these, a washer and dryer, and AC make this home so much more pleasant. Most of us use T-Mobile and the service in the home was decent. I was streaming music via YouTube the whole time and rarely had issues We were here late August and were pleased not to be bothered by mosquitoes or other pests. The lake is teeming with life and I lost count how many fish I caught. The largemouths here are consistently big fish and I caught multiple around the 4 lb range. The trail to the Manistee National Forest is literally right in front of the house and was a wonderful experience. Overall, this was a perfect vacation. However many days you're considering booking for, add another. We certainly regret not doing so. Just book it already!
We loved this place so much we scheduled another vacation here after our family had so much fun last year! This place is so tranquil and calm, relaxing by the lake and kayaking was so peaceful. The teenagers love the house because they each get a room on a different floor, the 15 year old took the attic and she loved all the space and extra beds.
Such a relaxing place at the end of the road and beginning of state park trails. Everyone in our group rated it a 10. Ages 8 to 72. Loved it.
This property is a charming place with lots of time to relax, enjoy nature, and spend time on the water.
Everything looked exactly like the picture showed it was clean things were available like stated by property owners and they were easy to work with providing information when requested and resolving any issues that we had :-) definitely would stay there again! Area is absolutely gorgeous!
Our family truly enjoyed the privacy and quiet to recharge for another school year. After a few days on the roller-coasters at Cedar Point, it was nice to store it down. We rented a small pontoon to float and the boys loved the fishing. Morning me time and meditation while watching the lilylad flowers open and close was my favorite. We enjoyed the Saturday farmers market and went to the Pete Marquette beach. My hubby and I would love to return in the fall to see all the fall colors. Thank you for sharing your home. ?
We absolutely loved this property. We took advantage of the kayaks on the lake, the trails right outside the door, and the beautiful fire pit they had to offer. The steps down to the lake made everything super convenient. Everything was clean, and there was even a fridge that was basically stocked.
