I so enjoyed the peace and quiet, lovely SC front porch, and location. Plenty of space and very kind owners. Highly recommend. I booked for two months awaiting construction of new home. Such a lucky decision. Couldn’t have been happier and fell in love with Summerville.
This was the cutest cottage!! Close to town, surrounded by beautiful, lush gardens, has a heated pool, wonderful owners!!!
The property is absolutely beautiful. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend. Linda and Peter the owners of the property are lovely and make you feel that their home is yours
Our stay with Linda and Peter was everything we could have hoped for! The property is so beautiful and they are the perfect host and hostess! True southern hospitality!!
In our opinion: The home was missing a minimum of two smoke detectors. The house needs a thorough cleaning before each renting., ie. pots and pans were greasy, window blinds in bedroom had so much cobwebs, it appeared not to have been cleaned in a long time. Cobwebs also in other parts of the home. The guest bathroom looked un pleasant , ie, caulking done around the bathtub needs to be removed and reapplied by a professional. Some baseboards needs replacing, others cleaned, painted and new caulking applied by a professional. The shower curtain had a lot of mold. We washed it two times in 3 weeks but mold did not come out. It needs replacing. My wife would not use the guest bathroom. We sanitized all usable areas of the kitchen.
Our family of five with two small children just vacationed at lovely Linwood Inn and gardens in Summerville, approximately a half hour from Charleston, SC. We stayed in the historic 1920's cottage and had lovely amenities, swimming in the large in-ground pool for residents, which is surrounded by award-winning Victorian gardens, playing in the fenced-in playground across the street, walking 4 blocks to nearby town for meals, or bringing ready-made meals to the cottage kitchen. The distinctly southern gardens of the 2-acre estate include a courtyard and formal gardens near the main house, making the cottage serene and quiet sparing the water fountains and trickling coy pond. Our spacious rooms in the cottage were very clean with attractive decor and extremely comfortable beds, complete with all fresh linens and towels. The guest house itself has two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a screened-in porch and screened-in patio, as well as a living room with a fire place. Ceiling fans throughout helped to add a breezy atmosphere for the kids as they played board games and enjoyed each others' company inside the cottage. Linda's literature collection is perfect reading for relaxing on a getaway. We will all treasure Linda and Peter's most gracious hospitality and our very special time staying at a home away from home in the Lowcountry. Incidentally, CBS's Sunday morning show aired on July 12, 2015 a television segment, called Sweet Tea, filmed right on Linwood Inn's wide wrap-around porch which is, albeit, thirst-inducing! Showcasing the town of Summerville and offering a televised interview on the property's estate from a pair of rocking chairs, it's yet another testament to the Shelbournes' always pleasant and accommodating ways. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/lets-raise-a-glass-to-iced-tea/
My family and I stayed here last summer we loved it so much we are going back in August of this year as well ! We love the property ! You feel very welcome . It was very clean and comfortable . We highly recommend it to our friends and family .
We stayed in a different cottage but the accommodations were exceptional. Perfect for my family with two toddlers. Across street from a park, pool and endless gardens to explore. We will be back and highly recommend.
My family of five (two adults and three small children) stayed in this beautiful cottage during my sister's wedding. We had everything we needed in the fully equipped kitchen and plenty of room to relax and enjoy ourselves fully! My children adored being next door to the pool and spent many hours jumping and swimming in the beautiful pool. (Which was gated, so I had ease of mind that they couldn't go without me!) I loved the hardwood floors and gorgeous decorating of the guest house. The Shelbournes were delightful hosts and mad sure we had everything we needed. This guest home provided my family a wonderful oasis to escape and relax in the middle of a busy wedding weekend.
I was surprised that we were able to book this spot only three months out for a vacation in June outside of Charleston. And, I'm even more surprised after being there and staying the week! The grounds were absolutely second-to-none, the pool was wonderful (that we pretty much had to ourselves), the house is perfect! Two wonderful porches, and we enjoyed our home-cooked dinner one night on the back porch with our finds from the local Mt. Pleasant farmer's market. Downtown Summerville is extremely charming and I wish we'd had more time to spend there. I enjoyed lovely walks each morning around the beautiful neighborhoods close by as well. I hesitated to write a good review only because I'd like to keep it a secret, but that wouldn't be fair to the lovely owners who took so much time to tell us the best places to visit and eat and to Linda who also took the time to show our kids around the main house and share some of its history. We will be back and if I can't book the cottage or the hay barn at Peter & Linda's for our next trip, I will be very disappointed. Cheaper than a hotel and it really shouldn't be.
