The house was nice and clean. Not the biggest fan of all the plant life and insects, but that didn't affect our stay. Wonderful little home for vacation!

So I really didn’t want to write a review . . . Because I’d love to keep this gem a secret!!! As far as cleanliness - pristine. Host made sure anything you can think of that you’ll need is available! Eclectic decor which I absolutely loved. Rooms were comfortable and cool using the upstairs A/C’s. The garden area was beautiful and watching the hummingbirds and bees was so relaxing. The town itself is friendly and easy to get around. Met numerous locals who offered info about the area including popular spots to go, the public beach etc. We were only there 2 nights and loved the Proving Ground so much we went both days. Walking distance, good food, live music, great atmosphere! The closest public beach also walking distance, small, clean and a lifeguard on duty. The only thing I can think of that I’d recommend is a new coffeemaker, it worked but extremely slow. Highly recommend this rental!

Lovely property, tastefully decorated and beautifully landscaped. Scott is a great and attentive host. Our family of 4 enjoyed our week in Highlands, with lots of miles biked on the local trails, relaxing time spent on the beach, and a day trip to NYC on the ferry. Property is conveniently located within walking distance of several restaurants that we enjoyed. Be sure to check out the lighthouse (oldest in the US!) and catch a sunset on the peninsula!

The cottage was lovely and eclectic. We did suggest some things to the owner and he was very receptive to all suggestions. Make sure to try the granola!

We arrived to a clean and ready property. The air-conditioning worked nicely on a very hot weekend. The location is extremely close to a variety of beaches and restaurants making for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This was the perfect place for our little beach get away. It's perfect for 3 people (at most). It's a little on the small side, but it's filled with so much character and the place was beautiful. It was easy to find everything we needed and we were so close to the beach. You can easily walk to some of the local spots and the main beach areas are a short drive away. I will note that there is AC only on the 1st floor and the upstairs does tend to run a little hot. Other than that the stay was great and Scott was very communicative. Looking forward to another stay!

The good: Location of the property is tucked into a seaside neighborhood with plenty todo within walking & bike distance. We drove over the bridge to sandy hook beach during the day then back to the appt to shower up & walk to a local establishment that had food options via outdoor bar/grill, a band and deck over the water during sun set. The bar was fun - and the local bagel shop in the morning was fantastic. Physical facts: This property abuts what appears to be two abandoned homes & accessible via a tight overgrown path. On the plus side, it’s very quiet…while the 1st impression leaves a bit to be desired. The upstairs doesn’t have A/C, one large bedroom is pad locked with no access & no off street parking so it’s the ole drive around the neighborhood in search for parking which the owner fully disclosed pre-check in. It’s a beach house, if you don’t have fun here you’re not a fun person - enjoy the beach & all this area has to offer!
