I loved the peace and quiet along with the beautiful views of the mountains from the porch. Uno loved to be off of the leash and run around the fields. He was sooooo happy. we also saw lots of deer and turkey foraging around the open fields. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay...this is it. Not too much to do in the area though.

This is a gem. Idyllic, breathtaking scenery..about as close to Mother Nature as you can possibly get while in a house versus back country camping. All we heard the entire stay was insects, birds, deer foraging and an occasional prop plane. I am so refreshed. I already rebooked!

An ideal location for anyone looking to get away for a few days with the fam! Hot tub, fire, river, wildlife, seclusion, and more river! We're a nostalgic fam so we couldn't help but feel in awe of the place. Keep in mind cleaning up is requested and we were thankful we did everything the night before, it is a big place but all supplies are onsite. And pet friendly is always a plus!

This was our fourth stay (Mar. '24, Jul. '24, Mar. '25, Sept. '25) at 'The Farmhouse' we always enjoy the time to unwind, relax and take in the clean country air. Enjoyed time down at the river, around the camp fire and, of course, the hot tub. Got a relaxing walk in on the Hawksbill Greenway Trail in old town, and lunch at A Taste of Home. Two trips to Castle Vineyard capped off a great relaxing, long holiday weekend.Looking forward to possibly a winter stay in a few months.

The check in process was fine and all check in details were accurate. The house was clean. Stuffy and warm but that's what you get with an old house. I felt the description was misleading. I thought we would be able to see the river from the front porch, since it is labeled as a River Front Property. You have to walk a while and through a tree line to get to it. There were several boarded off areas. There was mold around the base of the hot tub. There were windows that did not lock shut. A front door that only locked by a hook and eye latch. No curtains or blinds on any window accept the bedrooms and bathrooms. We were excited to site by a campfire every night only to be told via a index card on the table when you walked in No fires, too windy. Which it was not at that time. You are at the end of the road, completely secluded. If you are used to extremely rural areas or looking for a horror flick vibe this is the house for you. It was not for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience a cabin with none of the murder vibes at the Yogi the Bear camp ground up the street.

Beautiful rustic yet updated farmhouse. We were here for a family reunion in the area and didn't spend much time in the Farmhouse besides sleeping and enjoying morning coffee on the screened in porch with great views of the nearby mountains. The steps are a bit challenging for those with older knees lol. Overall absolutely enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this as a peaceful getaway in a tranquil setting.

We were able to do a number of hikes as skyline drive and still come back for a hot tub and quiet evening. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well appointed. Exactly what we expected and wanted. Will stay again if we are back in the area

Overall, we had a great stay and would go back! The location is very quiet. It was great with our 2 dogs, as they had space to move inside and out. We went out hiking every morning and this was a great middle of the Skyline Drive location to go to any of the trails. But also all of the other sights and to different towns for restaurants. There is also a grocery store and a Walmart close by in Luray. You can't really see the river from the house in the summer, but the mountain view was gorgeous. And it's pretty to walk the trail down to the river. We saw deer every morning and evening in the fields as well (and twice right outside the door to the grill). Some things to note (and maybe I missed on the description):The rock driveway (which was noted) is long and narrow. The last half has a lump in the middle, and our van was dragging rocks with it, even at 5mph. We did try to ride the edge from then on, but there isn't much of an edge. It was better once there was less weight in the van. If you have a low riding vehicle this may not be the place for you, unless the the lump is fixed. The split units did a pretty good job of cooling the house, during a heatwave. They ask you to keep the temp at 75, which was OK for us. There are no units in the bedroom, so we had to use fans which were provided and keep the door open to blow the air in.The spot down by the river is not private. I assume it was people from the other houses on the driveway that came down to use it.

If you are looking to step back in time / this is your place. A 1900s farm house located an easy walk to the River. The house has a huge kitchen, living spaces and 2 bedrooms. We stayed in the room facing the mountains a perfect view! Our pup Skye the world was his oyster, running, rolling, wading and loving life! The fire pit near the river was unprotected on a windy day so we used the one next to the house. A lovely end to the day. The WiFi, and TV were sort of spotty, so just relax and enjoy nature.

This has an old farmhouse vibe. We really enjoyed our stay. The pictures in the listing are accurate. Easy walk to the Shenandoah River. The farmhouse is at the end of a gravel road and very secluded. Just what we were looking for.
