Stayed Oct 21, 2015This is a nice, clean small home which is 1/2 of a duplex in a residential neighborhood. The home is quirky and probably was built in the 1920's, but has been nicely redone for the most part. It has a very small yard in front with a table for sitting. (There is no backyard, or barbeque area, so if those are important to you then you need to be aware of this. ) The WiFi worked very well even when running multiple devices including Chomecast on the TV. ( (There is only one TV.) The kitchen is very nice, probably the most redone room of the house. It has nice stainless steel refrigerator/freezer and stainless gas stove and oven, good sink and dishwasher. While we did not have time to cook, if you are so inclined this is a great feature to this property. If you're like us and aren't going to be cooking, easy proximity to 5 star Korean barbeques as well as family style restaurants was great. And downtown is only 15-20 minutes if you want to go all out. For my son and I doing a USC college visit, this was a great little house as it provided easy access to the 10, and probably 3 miles from the USC campus. 2-3 people is probably about the max for this place, and 3 would be if your group includes a couple. The bedroom has a good queen-sized bed, and the living room has a good twin-sized bed (not a roll out). The queen mattress was too firm for my tastes, but I had no trouble at all sleeping on it. The neighborhood is just middle-class folks, nothing fancy but we had no problems with anyone and found no safety concerns. (Now, with that said if you are looking for beachfront property, a large home with a view, or something high-end....then this is not going to be for you.) For us, the only issue we had is that the neighbors did make some noise on the weekend nights into the wee hours. These are regular families having parties with their friends and kids, nothing bad but the noise did seem a bit loud at times and we did not like this. Other than that, we liked the fact that most of the time we could park in the street, and if not, there is a parking space on the property with a sliding gate (not a security gate, more for privacy). Thomas the owner was always available within 1 hour for any questions or assistance. We had a couple of glitches which were promptly resolved, and he also refunded our deposit on the same day we left. This should actually be the standard for VRBO, and Thomas did it voluntarily without us asking.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This eclectically-furnished side-by-side duplex property has windows on 3 sides, and yet is utterly concealed from the outside world. It has lush, dense plantings in the front; if you expect to return after dark, leave the porch light on when you go out so that you can find the front door! The house does include a parking pad, but there is plenty of parking on the street, too. Be aware: early Monday morning is garbage pickup, so on Sunday night, neighbors' trash cans occupy a lot of the parking spaces! There are 4 small steps to get into the house. Once inside, the room is wide open and the floor is continuous, without thresholds, which makes it easily navigable for people with physical handicaps. (The hallway is too narrow to allow a wheelchair to turn into the bathroom or bedroom, but a person using a cane or walker would have no problem.) The kitchen area is large, with a new refrigerator, and every imaginable appliance -- coffeemaker, microwave, toaster, slow cooker, etc. Lighting is good throughout. The window air conditioners -- main room and bedroom -- were noisy cycling on and off, but they kept the place cool and were easy to adjust with the remote control. Seating is comfortable, particularly the glider / rocker by the front window. The bedroom has a large closet with plenty of hangers, and the queen-size bed is so comfortable, it was hard to get up in the morning. Furnishings such as draperies, chair covers, towels and washcloths, are casually mix-and-match, like a real home rather than a hotel. Everything was clean and thoughtfully laid out. We were visiting family a few miles away and did not travel to LA attractions, but the house is conveniently located to nearby freeways, and the owner provides an assortment of maps and guidebooks for those who do want to see the sights. When we make another trip to Los Angeles, we would stay here again.
