Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at Castle in the Sand! The home was beautiful and we had so much space to relax with a large group. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were comfortable. The private walk out to the beach made our days down by the water with two little ones extremely easy. The rental company was also very easy to work with. We had an issue with the pool heat a day after we got there and it was corrected within an hour and no hassle. If we make the trip down to the Outer Banks again, we will definitely use this company and look to stay at Castle in the Sand!

We stayed with 2 other families, 6 adults and 5 teens. The house had a kitchen with everything we needed to cook at home. The 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators, and ice maker were amazing. The beach was small and hard to walk on, so we spent more of our time at the pool and hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Our family loves the house and all the facilities, heated pool, game room, on the beach.

Gorgeous house on the beach, with great kitchen (3 sinks! 2 dishwashers! 2 ovens + air fryer oven, microwave etc!), large dining space and multiple common areas provided space for our 12 older adults to gather. Plenty of bedrooms all with their own bathroom for privacy. Great location for OBX. Rental company is easy to deal with. Groceries etc nearby, plus all the tourist attractions you're looking for in the area. We were too early in the season for the pool, but there's a shower & toilet at pool level also. Elevator made bringing kitchen supplies up to upper level easy.

The home is clean, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Loved the addition of the new Living Room Furniture. The extended (LONG) table was perfect for meals and for playing cards. The views from this home were spectacular (sunrise from the back deck and sunset from the front) Amazing! The theater room was wonderful, although the seats are well-worn, but they were comfortable. Only recommendation would be to update the bed linens to make the brighten the bedrooms a little.

The location and home is awesome, however the living room furniture needs to be replaced or chair covers could be an option. The grout in some of the showers should be cleaner (some nasty looking spots) and some of the shower liners could be replaced. The pool and game room were well used and the kitchen was well stocked. Overall we enjoyed our stay and booked for next year.

Excellent beach location, we had a great time, but the “owner” needs to step up. 1.The“owners” lawn care company hit a large stone while mowing the lawn and hit one of our cars causing a dent and paint damage. We immediately called the rental company and they said they would contact the “owner”. We have heard NOTHING back from the “owner”. 2. The house is not at all what the pictures show in the listing, it is very well “used”. Duct tape on the furniture, broken chairs, child gates that are broke and useless, the washing machine was broken and not working properly, electric outlet issues, lighting in the pool area where the switches were sparking and light bulbs were out. (We called the rental company and they did send someone out to take care of the electrical issues and address a few other minor problems quickly). The decks are extremely worn, watch out for slivers and nails. The railing to the beach deck was rotted and broken. 3.The bedding was well worn and did not have mattress covers. Some of the spreads were filthy and there was sand in, and on the bedding. We wondered if the “cleaning service” had actually changed the bedding. It seems as if they sprayed the entire house with disinfectant and that was about it. There was mold in many of the showers. Simple bleach can clean that up…. 4.Be aware that the house is on the main road, understand that’s there is a LOT of traffic. We heard NO street noise but had to be careful when pulling out of the driveway.

This was the perfect house for our group of 11. Everyone had their private spaces where they could retreat if needed. We had a lovely visit!

It rained and was cool a couple days during our week but we had fun in the game room and the heated pool and hot tub. I reported that a couple nails popped up and a board came loose on the deck and boardwalk. Also the garage door operator needed lubrication. Josh showed up within an hour and did a great job. We've booked for next year.
