Located at the base of the Sandias in a sweet, walkable forested neighborhood, this home offers comfortable spaces to live, work and be in awe of the beauty of nature. The mountains are constantly changing with the light and the clouds; often glowing a reddish gold at the end of the day. Very sigh-worthy.

The Space
Amazing views are visible from east facing tall windows in the living room, dining room and primary bedroom. When the light is right, the world's second longest Tram canalso be seen. This entire single level home is yours to enjoy including an entry courtyard with seating for your morning coffee. The rear walled patio for evening activities offers privacy and views. Our home is decorated in a warm contemporary style; almost all of our art is by local NM artists.

Hiking/biking trails (La Luz, Elena Gallegos and many more) are nearby. A small park (visible from our backyard) is close enough to walk to. The larger North Domingo Baca park offers Tennis, Playground, Bocce Ball, a Dog park and more. The top of the Tram provides an amazing view of Albuquerque at 10K feet. And, of course, there is seasonal skiing. There is a walking path along the arroyo right outside our gate. Not here for the Balloon Fest You can still catch a balloon ride with Rainbow Riders. Or stroll in Old Town and check out museums.

We have T-Mobile 5G Wifi and Samsung 50/55 TVs in the LR and Primary Bedroom. The full kitchen (Refrigerator/DW/Stove/Oven) is well equipped and stocked with the basics, including a Keurig Duo and Microwave. Both bedrooms have chargers and walk-in closets. There is also a laundry room with a full size washer/dryer. The garage fits 2 cars (medium sized) accessible with a remote.

CVS Pharmacy and O'Beans Coffee shop are very close on Tramway and Albertson's on Academy is just five minutes south on Tramway. Other major stores including restaurants and services are generally within 10-15 minutes west on Paseo del Norte, Academy or Montgomery. We will provide info at the house on some of the best.

The front door has a keypad deadbolt lock and you will be provided with your own code. We also provide a garage door opener during your stay. We have a camera doorbell; street camera on the front of the garage and a rear camera aimed at the back gate for security. There are 2 fire extinguishers and a first aide kit in case of emergencies.

We would love to have you as our guests to enjoy the magic of the area!!!!

We enjoyed a wonderful visit in Chere’s Casita de Montano from September 18th through the 24th, 2025. The beautifully appointed and comfortable home is nestled in the western foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Upon entering the casita, the panoramic view of the Sandia Mountains from the large living room windows is breathtaking! Our immediate thought on seeing that view was that we discovered a real gem. Each day there validated that thought. The casita is beautifully appointed. It is decorated with subtle understatement that accentuates the tastefully selected décor. One of the two things we carefully research when perusing pictures of possible VRBO rentals is if furniture appears comfortable. Secondly, is the kitchen clean and free from previous visitor’s perishables? Prior to arrival, we felt reassured from the pictures of Casa de Montano that it would meet our two criteria. On arrival, the stellar condition of both issues far surpassed our expectations. In closing, our stay in Casita de Montano was restful and renewing. The tranquility of its mountain views, the stunning sunsets as the sun reflects different hews on the mountains, the nighttime cosmic spectacle of countless stars, and Chere’s impeccable hospitality has made Casa de Montano a future stop in our future pilgrimages to New Mexico.

What a wonderful place to stay! Well furnished, clean, comfortable, with a spectacular view of the Sandia Mountains! Close to everything you could need yet in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. Plus just 10 minutes from the Sandia Resort & Casino (With a great golf course!). We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Albuquerque and know where to book our stay the next time we head that way!

Truly a level-up VRBO as this property delivers everything needed to enjoy time away, plan local tours and activities, and simply breathe. The decor, vibe and views are all equal plusses to this property. Our host was so responsive and caring. I truly did not want to go home. Highly recommend!

We're frequent VRBOers because of my work in various parts of the country, and we can tell you, this was our best ever. We LOVE Chere's house -- the art work, the decorating, the motorized blinds (!), the top quality appliances, the fluffy thick towels, the good lighting, the sparkling cleanliness, so many generous little touches, and the bonus of a spectacular view. We arrived at night in the midst of a neighborhood power outage, and Chere couldn't have been more accommodating. We're already feeling nostalgic for ABQ, so we're going to get away from next winter's doldrums and frost by spending a few weeks in New Mexico sunshine, but only if we can stay in this lovely house in the foothills of the Sandias.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely home. The mountain views are amazing and different throughout the day! We felt as if we were in a private remote resort, yet city amenities are just 5 minutes away. Chere is a wonderful host . She has thought of every detail. Wish we could give more than 5 stars!
