Arroyo Seco, New Mexico
This home is a fabulous vacation location. It is situated on five irrigated acres in the foothills above the village of Arroyo Seco. You can walk or ride bikes to the town along a creek on a tree-lined road.
El Salto Road is the very best location to enjoy a Taos holiday. The creeks and irrigation keep the area green and lush. The five-acre property surrounding the house has 1000 trees in Cottonwood, Willow, Austrian Pines, and Aspen. There is a small plum and apple orchard and a whole garden on site for guests to pick vegetables. We are growing lettuce, spinach, tomato, radish, carrot, potato, and basil.
The mountain biking and cycling are world-class right out the front door. Hiking trails are phenomenal, with access to Forest Service lands just minutes away. From Taos Ski Valley (15 minutes), there are countless trails and cooler temperatures as one gains altitude. The Ski Valley offers trail riding horse stables and chairlift rides.
Relax in an authentic Adobe home after skiing in winter or hiking any time of the year. Located just minutes from the village of Arroyo Seco and fifteen minutes from Taos Ski Valley, this comfortable, warm, and inviting residence awaits you and your family. The home was built by Taos' most successful designer/builder/developer team for their own family and enjoyment. The architecture and furnishings might be described as French Country Northern New Mexico.
The walls are 18-inch thick adobe with viga and beam ceilings, flagstone floors covered with oriental rugs, and antique furniture throughout. The house feels good, warm, cozy, and luxurious. The furnishings and finishes have been selected with great care and comfort in mind.
The kitchen features a stainless steel restaurant stove and oven, side by side refrigerator, a dishwasher, a compactor, and a full line of dishes and cooking utensils. There is a large central island for food preparation where the entire family can participate in making a meal.
The sizeable primary bedroom contains a queen bed and a couch that slides out to make two twin beds. The middle and front bedrooms have queen beds and a twin bed in each.
There is also a convertible couch for two more twin beds in the living room.
There are two patios for use all year round.
All the linens and towels are provided for a large group. The owners have many years of experience providing their guests with a beautiful vacation experience.

I can't say enough nice things about our gracious host. Our multi family holiday vacay was sucked into crisis mode when we found our original booking with NO HEAT and a dangerous electrical short. We were beyond grateful to trade UP to Casasara. Host greeted our grateful crew in person and the rest was awesome. Beautiful property with lots of room and sleeping options. And the hands down favorite amenity was the amazing rainwater steam shower! If you get a chance, check it out.
Everything great!
This was a great home base for skiing with my college kids and their friends.
The house is perfect! Plenty of room for us to spread out and have our own space, and the kitchen is large for gathering to cook and socialize. The grounds are a beautiful view while enjoying the hot tub. Rick is the perfect host by being available when we needed him! He helped us get our car out after the snow storm! Highly recommend!
Great
Enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
Great house and location. Enjoyed our stay
Rick, the owner, made this a great stay for us. Since we arrived after dark he was nice enough to meet close to the property so we could follow him to the house. He gave a great tour of the house before leaving us for the weekend. For the entirety of the stay he made sure that we had everything we needed, and it was overall a great experience. Definitely recommend checking out this property and I am hoping to come back very soon
When we arrived on site it was dark and couldn't get a real sense of the property. The owner insisted on meeting us upon arrival, even though it was late, and giving us a tour. He was waiting at the front door and asked if we were comfortable not wearing masks. It was somewhat uncomfortable as he had no sense of boundaries. He told us he would be staying in the studio on the property. We didn't see it being an issue until later in our stay. He asked what brought us to the location and we told him we were celebrating our wedding with a small group of 20. He said that was wonderful and he has had many weddings on the property. Over the next few days it felt like we were in a horror movie. The next day he came over cursing and causing a scene when we were putting up a small tent. My 11 year old daughter was present which didn't seem to phase him. His behavior was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. Once he calmed down he realized everything was fine and apologized for his behavior. The following day, during our event and leading up to it, we had a few guests say someone with his description was in the house. I never specifically saw him but our guests wouldn't have any reason to make this up. At this point we realized this guy was not stable and displayed odd behavior. On our final morning the owner stormed into a bedroom, at 7am, where one of the couples was sleeping and asked why they were in his home and what they were doing. He started cursing at them and causing a scene. Unfortunately a critter had gotten into the outdoor trash which put him over the edge. Our checkout time was at 11am but the owner felt the need to start stripping beds around 8:30am and sit in the front yard. He also thought it would be okay to start cursing at my mom and and other guests. When we asked him to stop he said this is how he handles things. We cleaned the house and left it in just as good, if not better, shape than when we arrived. As we were pulling out of the driveway the owner came lurking from behind a tree to the front door. He attempted calling me but I ignored the call in order to avoid any other blow ups. It is unfortunate the owner was completely overbearing and inappropriate because the property was beautiful. I do not think it is appropriate for the owner to be on site, especially during COVID, and when he clearly isn't comfortable with people in his home.
My family (son 3.5, daughter 18 months) stayed here for a month in July 2020. We were working remotely from the house and it was the perfect set up for our family. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The master bedroom has a desk and is separate from the rest of the house which made it ideal for working. The kitchen is very well equipped, there were plenty of linens/towels/paper products, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The outdoor spaces around the house were just stunning. There is a beautiful, soft green yard in the immediate area around the house that our kids loved. The landscaping is immaculate. There is a garden, fruit trees, and plenty of places to explore on the property as well. We spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoor spaces here and will very much miss being here. The owner Rick was a wonderful host and was always available to answer questions we had or provide advice on things to do. This is an incredibly beautiful place that is very convenient to the ski area as well as Taos. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay here again.
