Matagorda, Texas
This cozy one bedroom house is just across the street from the dune path to the beach. Come enjoy a peaceful get away as you sit on the deck and watch the sunrise or the ocean while listening to the waves crash on the beach. This entire home features a basic kitchen with a vintage oven. The home also features a picnic table under the house for shaded eating. Enjoy the hammock and the porch swing under the house as well. Two sleeper sofas offer the ability for 2 more queen beds.
The owner was very communicative, and we love this property! The house was well furnished and stocked, and exactly what we wanted near the beach. There is a very short walk, and we walked over several times we will definitely be back! I did need to communicate a few times with the owner and he immediately got right back with me. Excellent stay!
It was close by the beach
Very clean and roomy place to stay near the beach! Highly recommended!!
Magnificent! Peaceful, Charming Beautiful Place to Celebrate My Birthday! Beach, Water, Birds, Beach Combing, Family, Friends and Lovely Rockers on the porch that made for Precious Memories.
The Casa was perfect for our kayaking get-a-way! The location was perfect and very convenient. The home was clean and comfortable.. And the owner, Jim, was super responsive, helpful and timely. We would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our short stay . Location was great , we enjoyed taking our dogs to walk on the beach. Beach was absolutely beautiful, haven’t been to Matagorda in 20 years and was delighted with the nature park at beach entrance. I had just read about the beach there and wasn’t disappointed . it was mostly deserted very few people there on a week day. The little beach house was almost perfect. Tastefully decorated with great AC which made for some good sleep. The only thing that was missing were Toothpicks. ??we’re looking forward to next time.
Great, convenient location for beach access in Matagorda.
We had a wonderful time. Loved the easy check in. Jim was a great host and responded to questions very quickly. The home is cute and clean and we were comfortable. It was the perfect size for my husband and I and our dog. It is at the end of a quiet street, and very peaceful to just sit and relax on the front porch. The views were even better than I expected. We brought in all of our groceries to avoid having to drive back into Bay City. We went to Buddy's once for shrimp, and Dollar General in Matagorda was convenient for odds and ends. Using the vintage stove was fun. It worked well. We used the dune path down to the beach, our dog enjoyed the walk. Be sure to wear shoes and plenty of mosquito spray for the trek through the dunes. The beach was never crowded, even on the weekend. Sometimes we were the only ones down there. That was amazing. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was very clean. There was a nice view of the beach upstairs. The location was perfect for a short drive to the beach, river, fishing piers and boat launches. Perfect for a quick weekend get away. We will book again on out next visit to Matagorda Island.
Loved staying here. Nice quaint little house. Neighborhood was nice and quiet. Beach is close by. I will be coming back. Only complaint I have is the add did say it had washer/dryer but this was not accessible.
With nothing planned for a few upcoming days off and being in a position of not feeling beach sand between our toes in for some time, we decided we must remedy the situation. Having heard about Matagorda from friends, we quickly scanned the available rentals and found the little jewel named Casa de la Costa. There are grandeur homes, there are larger homes, there are homes beyond imagination, but Casa de la Costa looked perfect and was priced fantastically reasonable. The house is charming in its simplicity and far enough down the road that gave us an exclusivity feeling, too. There were literally nobody near by - an absolute blessing - after following the path over the dune, the beach appeared and was surprisingly wide with only a handful of people around - we felt we had a mile of beach front ownership for a mile both east and west. We found our perfect getaway spot that is close enough yet far enough from the daily grind in Houston. The house offers exactly what one;one needs tor a few days of rest and solitude. During our stay, my wife thinks we should sell everything and move based on the Casa de la Costa home and atmosphere, It is not a bad idea. The porch morning coffee with a view of the beach was perfect. In addition, Jim is an amazing host - he actually responds in a timely manner. Thank you Jim - thank you for a wonderful stay.
Great location, perfect for family and friends going to fish, boat or the beach. Jim is very responsive to questions and needs...quick to respond. Easy checkin and checkout. Place is good size, actually bigger than the pictures show. Outdoor shower is a plus, so more than one person can shower at the same time. We will.be back !!
My kids and I (all teen or adult) had a lovely stay. The beach was accessible over the dunes, or a very short drive to the public entry. Jim was easy to communicate with and very pleasant.
The property was as pictured and it was perfect for mine and my husbands stay. It is a good walk through the dune to get to the beach and we decided it would be best to just drive to the public beach access which is right up the road from the house. We had a cooler and other things that would make it a difficult trek through the sand dune. The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all. The owner Jim was quick to answer any messages and help anyway he could. Overall I would definitely stay here again.
Update the bedding and towels. Make sure all are clean. The path to the beach was not obvious. The house is not on the beach side. We won't be back.
We had a great time. The house was amazing and the walk to the beach was just a short trip. Planning on booking again!
We really like this house! The under house area is nice. It has a good bathroom with a tub, and the vintage stove is just fun! Definitely one if our faves in Matagorda.
It seemed from the map the house was on the ocean side of the street but when I booked it was not. Otherwise cute house, perfect for 2. Nice view of the ocean
This was our first time to Matagorda. The house was super cute! Vintage with modern updates! Perfect for two & our four legged son! Beach access easy via walking or driving. Owner communication was fabulous. Thank you for sharing your home! We will definitely be back!
This was my second time doing a vacation rental in Matagorda, which is known for its fishing. This is a great location. It is as close as you can get to the beach unless you want to beach camp. It is still a bit of a walk to the water through the dunes, so we paid for drive on beach access. It is worth the minimal cost. The area was quiet. You could faintly hear the sound of the waves coming in front the front porch. We had 5 people - there are two fold out sofa beds in addition to the bed in the bedroom. The amenities were adequate. We didn't drink the tap water and instead got water from the store and refilled at the self serve ice/water place. We mainly cooked in the kitchen, but did go out a couple of times. Snappers is rebuilding there restaurant after a fire, but you can eat from their food truck at the same location, about 10 min from the property. Our fried fish was fresh. On the way into Matagorda, about 15 min from the property, Cassidy's Coffee Bar and Cafe serves standard breakfast options and has a good atmosphere.
Very cute house. Nice decor. Love that it is pet friendly!
Close to the beach, quiet, nice views.
