New Hope, Pennsylvania
Nestled in the heart of beautiful, bucolic Bucks County, escape to this secluded two bedroom hide-away, offering a park-like country sanctuary, only 2 miles away from the bustling sister towns of New Hope and Lambertville, bridging the Delaware River, where you can shop, eat at gourmet restaurants and enjoy the nightlife. This casual and comfortable carriage house, situated on the 18th century 10-acre estate of the John Van Dyke Homestead, includes a pool, tennis court and a fire pit. This is an antique house located in the countryside, with all of the attendant charms of the great outdoors. It is a paradise for nature lovers and those who enjoy encounters with the local fauna and flora.
Wake up to a relaxing coffee on the back deck, under a canopy of mature beech, pine and tulip trees. Walk the back field’s pathways watching for butterflies, birds, and deer, and forage for wild raspberries. Sit by the firepit, the perfect place to watch day give way to night. Hear the wind through the wings of the geese as they fly overhead and watch for the graceful herons. Fireflies will light up the summer night. All of which are the stuff of making great memories!
The history of the property began in 1770, as part of 200 acres owned by John Penn. George Washington’s troops encamped here during the Revolutionary War and the Van Dyke house was built in 1792. The owners previous to us, Don and Audrey Walker, resided here for 70 years, from 1935-2006. During this time, they founded and managed the largest gladiola farm in the US, trading under the name of Harmony Hill Farm. Don Walker was also a famous Broadway composer-arranger-orchestrator to such shows as Cabaret, Fiddler On the Roof, and Pajama Game. He also co-founded the Bucks County Playhouse. Frequent visitors included such luminaries as Oscar Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and Dorothy Parker. We’re proud to continue the property’s artistic legacy with the 2020 conversion of the gladiola processing facility into an art gallery-studio, named the Nancy Lloyd Fine Art Studio.
We are one mile from a Delaware River park, 40 minutes to center Philadelphia and 70 minutes to NYC, 80 minutes to Longwood Gardens and Brandywine Art Museum (home to the Wyeth art collection). A gallery crawl, wine tour, antiquing, historic house tours, concerts and theatre events are all part of local offerings, along with activities at the many local parks, a fitness club, bicycle rentals or tubing on the river. Historic Philadelphia, 40 minutes to the center from Harmony Hill Farm, allows you to immerse yourself in colonial history and sample the culture of a cosmopolitan and vibrant city.

My son and daughter in law came over, and they were tired so we decided to let them stay, the owners - weirdly watching us asked us for more money. Just saying we never did that in the ten plus years we owned our own VBRO.
Very charming carriage house, with beautiful details. There is an outdoor staircase to enter the second floor unit. We noticed that it might be difficult to manage for some, and could be better lit.
It was a lovely place to stay, quaint, just perfect for a few days in New Hope.
We really enjoyed our stay. Perfect location, very clean and quiet, and the cottage had everything we needed to make for a restful time. Nancy, one of the hosts, is a lovely person!
Very nice house.
The carriage house was very comfortable for a very old home. We needed a place close to New Hope and central to other areas that we were visiting and we found it in this carriage house! Definitely a place we would come back too!!
This was such a nice, safe, cozy place to stay. Everything that you need was available plus some extra perks such as coffee/tea and a fireplace on a cold rainy weekend.Very clean! We didnt use the kitchen much since there are so many amazing restaurants nearby but it appeared fully stocked. The hosts were very kind and welcoming. Very convenient short drive to downtown New Hope and our favorite, Peddlers Village! I highly recommend this place!
We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage was so clean and cozy. Nancy & Chip were so welcoming and kind. We loved having the pool and the grounds. It’s so close to New Hope and Lambertville. We enjoyed walks on the canal and had delicious meals in both towns. We would recommend this place to everyone we know. It’s a little oasis. Just perfect for a quiet relaxing retreat. Thank you Nancy and Chip. By the way, Nancy is an amazing artist, just check out the artwork in the cottage.
Really enjoyed the unique setting of this place. It is well set-up. This was a very convenient location for us as we were biking the river trails and trail access was right down the street, with parking. Also right next door to the Bowman Wildflower Preserve which was visited. You should be aware that there are really two beds, not three. But Chip put up a inflatable and put in additional air conditioning right away. He also was helpful with our need for an additional bike.
The Carriage House at Harmony Hill was a perfect place for us to stay for a couple of days while biking in the New Hope area. The Carriage House is comfy, cozy, nicely restored. It was quiet, away from road noise, had a great porch for a morning cup of tea or an afternoon drink. Just what we were looking for. The biking going north and south from New Hope on both sides of the river was wonderful. A great base camp for exploration.
Property is as advertised. Beautiful, peaceful setting with easy access to the canal, river, and Washington Crossing Park. Property was also just a few miles away from the dining and shops at both New Hope and Washington Crossing. We enjoyed both the hominess and aesthetics of the accommodations and quiet mornings and evening beverages on the deck. Owners were personable while also being unobtrusive. We had a great weekend and I'd highly recommend you consider a stay at Harmony Hill Farm.
My two adult daughters who have children of their own, and I enjoyed celebrating a lovely early Mother's Day weekend together. The carriage house was cozy and just the right size for us. Verizon service was a bit spotty, but we were able to use the Wi Fi provided. We enjoyed wandering around New Hope, visiting several wineries, and shopping in Lahaska. It was a very relaxing weekend that we all needed!! Thank you, Chip and Nancy!
Simply charming and peaceful and very clean-quiet-cheerful! This place has it all. River is right there to walk on the toe path!! Nancy and Chip are Angels and helped us in ways we did not expect. We will be back for sure! Ty Nancy and Chip
