Captiva Vacation Home: comfort, private pool, dock, 300 steps to private beach

The property was beautiful! The house was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The pool was large enough for the 4 of us with floats and it was surrounded by tropical vegetation. The dock was a great hangout spot to look for wildlife. The beach was located directly across the street and we virtually had the beach to ourselves all week. It’s close to great restaurants and a few souvenir shops. We couldn’t have asked for anything else!

This was our second time staying at this property and we can’t say enough good things about the property itself or the hosts. We had a fantastic stay both times, and the hosts were very communicative and accommodating. Would recommend this place every time.

Perfect location. Property very clean. Margarethe and husband very pleasant and helpful with their introduction to Captiva and Sanibel. Did not fish from the dock but it was in a great location. Very quiet in the evening. Everything was as advertised

The best thing I can say is stop your search now and rent this place! The space inside the home is open and spacious, the rooms are large with loads of space for clothing and belongings, plenty of room for families to gather and kids to play, and the kitchen is big enough to cook full meals. The plant life and foliage are incredible! Every time we drove or walked into the driveway, we were in awe of the beauty finding a new plant or flower we hadn’t seen before! The pool is enclosed in its own little sanctuary nestled in what feels like a tropical jungle paradise. The beach is across the street, but the walk is short even on a hot day with full arms or a beach cart (which was provided during our stay)! The beach is private with no public access so it is shared with those who live or rent on the road. The owners have thought of it all while furnishing this home and providing a wonderful vacation space. Which brings me to the owners. What wonderful hosts they were. They were available for any questions or concerns, local recommendations, great conversations, insights into the area, making sure that every expectation for our trip was exceeded in every way! They are truly gems! There is a market in Captiva, grocery store in Sanibel, tons of souvenir shops, restaurants, and gift shops! I could go on and on about this home, the people, the grounds, but I would encourage you to experience it for yourself! This is the kind of place you look forward to staying year after year!!

Even though you can’t see the water from the home, the private beach was so relaxing and enjoyable. The owners were very responsive to our needs and made us feel very welcome.

We had a great time and everything in the listing was exactly as advertised. Pool on the property is very nice and private. Landscaping on the property is serene and access to the dock is great! Thank you for a great stay!

The Captiva Vacation Home was very welcoming to us and our pets. We didn't use the laundry service but did use the house washer and dryer and they were great.

Wow!! What a beautiful location and home! We were able to go to the beach down a very short path. We went for long walks on the beach every morning! Then would swim in the private pool in the afternoon! Then would go back to the beach to watched the beautiful sunset every night! The house was very nice and roomy!The host is very extremely friendly and the response was always fast.Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!!

The house is wonderful, comfortable, and has the best of everything we want…pool, beach, fishing. They are lovely hosts and make your stay so easy and enjoyablbd

Home is spacious, clean with comfortable beds! Short walk to an expansive, beautiful private beach. Fishing off the dock was FANTASTIC - many fish dinners! Pool is wonderful encased in landscaping that was both beautiful and provided great privacy. This landscaping was throughout the entire property. Hosts could not have been better. All in all, a perfect vacation. Already booked for next year!

It was a wonderful Christmas getaway for everyone in our family. The location could not be more perfect, and the host welcomed us to use all the amenities. The house is beautiful and comfortable, with everything one could need. The gardens and the pool were fantastic. An easy walk to the beach or the dock for fishing made it hard to leave the property to do anything else. We hope to be able to return someday. Thank you so much!!

The house had everything we needed. It was clean, laid out nicely, plenty of towels, and comfortable beds.

Absolutely loved our stay here! We alternated the easy walk to the beach and sitting by the dock, including fishing. Plus the location is great for going to both Sanibel and Captiva restaurants. The landscaping is beautiful and you can see how much time and care was put into the variety of plants and flowers. Check in was simple and the house included everything we needed. Plenty of space and sitting areas for all of us to relax and be together. We used the chairs and tent by the beach every day. Loved all of the birds, lizards, dolphins, and manatees (one even swam up to us in the gulf!) The owners are so charming and helpful and made our stay easy and special. Totally recommend staying here! Would love to come back again.

Well appointed and serene, the home, pool, and property created the perfect vacation. The beach is pristine and feels private and is just a very short walk, making it easy to enjoy without the hassle of packing everything up. Just walk over any time of day to enjoy! Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and Sanibel and Captiva are not to be missed. The spirit and warmth of the people are like no other. We were so happy to be part of the islands’ recovery from Ian. Wonderful experience and highly recommend!

The property has everything that we needed. Location is steps away from beach, pool, and dock.

Many times staying here and each time is just as enjoyable as the last. Already booked for November this year and June of 2026. My grandson and I caught more snook than we could count - while everyone else enjoyed the beach. Another perfect week. Thank you Margarethe!!!

My mom, brother, and I stayed for a week. It was perfect. The location provided easy access to the beach and the provided beach accessories (umbrella, chairs, cart!) were all that we needed. Margarethe and Rene were so friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome at their home. Inside the house we were very comfortable - my mom is still raving about how well she slept on the most comfortable bed!

We had a wonderful time at this property. The location is convenient and beautiful. Tons of wildlife to see at the private dock and amazingly private beach. Highly recommend!

The property was wonderful. Margarethe and Rene were excellent hosts. The house had everything needed for a terrific beach vacation. Fishing off the dock provided plenty of action. Access to the beach was nearby and the beach was great. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Overall a 5 star place with 5 start hosts.

We have stayed in this beautiful home before, and will be back again next year. The beach is easy to get to, the pool is very nicely secluded, the home is laid out well and has everything we needed, including kitchen items. The beds are very comfortable. The boys loved fishing off the dock.

This guest house was clean, comfy, and had all the equipment needed for cooking etc. The use of the dock on the water was very cool, and being across the street from the beach was great. We biked everywhere pretty much. We have always stayed on Sanibel but this was lovely.

We simply love the property and all it provides ! The house is awesome , indoor pool is beautiful, dock perfect for fishing relaxing and watching dolphins. Plus the beach is very close as well. Lastly the owners are fantastic! Highly recommend this property !

House was exactly like described. Private beach access just across the street. Private heated pool. Access to fishing dock with a lot of fish and wildlife to be seen. Hosts were kind and personable. Definitely will be back. 10/10

I hesitate to write how fabulous this property and the owners are to work with, because I don’t want it to be too hard to reserve! LOL. The interior is very charming, comfy and there is amazing artwork. Kitchen is very well stocked (I would suggest bring your own fry pan). Otherwise it has all you need. The beds are deliciously comfortable, Love the proximity to the secluded beach, and the option to fish from the dock. Best of both sides of the water. The pool is heavenly. Even in the 60s, with sun out I could float for hours, it is that well sheltered and heated. We already have two more trips set to return

Rene and Margarete are awesome hosts! Great communication with them. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best! I highly recommend them for your family getaway, we will definitely becoming back and staying again! The heated pool and the dock were the best.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas week at Captiva Vacation Home! Its easy access to both the bay and the beach makes this location ideal. The fisherman in our group spent hours at the dock, catching so many fish. And our beach lovers couldn’t get enough of the prettiest and most private beach I have ever seen. The pool was great too - perfect for the chillier days. The owners live on site and were attentive and helpful.Everything we needed for the week was provided - beach and fishing supplies, an extremely well-stocked kitchen, laundry needs, etc. We appreciated having three bedrooms and bathrooms so that all of us (6 adults in total) could have their own space. It was also easy to gather together at the large kitchen table and sectional sofa in the living area. We cooked and ate every meal there but one - we didn’t want to leave!The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the interior is immaculately clean. The cottage is starting to show some signs of wear and tear, and there’s a bit of a musty odor inside that attached to our belongings. That said, we would definitely come back because of all the positives mentioned above!Our thanks to Margarethe and René for a fabulous week!

Wonderful house - dock was amazing!! Great location and beautiful trees surrounding the entire property. Quiet, tranquil and the stars at night are mesmerizing!! House was equipped with everything you could possibly need!! Tv worked great and easy to use!! Margarethe was kind and very helpful through the hurricane scare!
