If you can appreciate the character and quaint idiosyncrasies of a century-old home, then you should love our new Captains Quarters! Our beautiful older home will have some floors that are not yet perfect and are not perfectly level, and you may notice a bit of a lean here and there!

But it has been updated with Central Heat/AC, new ceiling fans throughout, High Speed WiFi and updated appliances - all designed to allow you a wonderful beach side vacation!

The Captain's Quarters offers 4 bedrooms with 2 Queen beds and 3 Twin beds. We also have a bonus room in the unique attic space with a King size bed that is accessed with a spiral stairway that was rescued from the Grand Cavalier Hotel. With the attic area and King size bed, we can actually sleep 9.

From the upper windows we do have a beautiful view of the bay and beach. Although we are not directly on the beach, we are just steps away. There is a home in between us and the beach but there are no streets to cross and the walk to the beach is just a minute or just a few sips of coffee!

Even with the modernization of the property, it is a historical home that is now over 115 years old. It has some eccentricities that reflect building standards and designs from the turn of the last century that lends to its charm as an older beach cottage. But even so, we hope that you will love our older and charming home.

Parking is just outside your door in front of our 2 car garage.

We feature a large (65) smart TV and high speed Wifi for your work or entertainment.

The host informed us THIS house was not available on the day of arrival. He switched us to a “cottage” in the backyard. It was filthy, stinky, torn and stained furniture and carpet, with stopped up sink and no heat. It was a duplex with no washer/dryer and doors off hinges leaning on the walls. We left and got a refund, but buyer beware the bait and switch from this host.

The Kitchen was small, had aunts and you feel like you are in a rickety house that is barley holding up. Every time someone one steps the house shakes. The entire house is tilting to one side. There is an upstairs level, with a broken banister, you can see out side at the seem where wall meets roof. The kitchen, bedrooms, living room and laundry room lights are broken, you had to feel around to find your things. Don't dare open a window, there are literally signs stating the windows will fall out. The owner doesn't leave you with any extra trash bags(1 bag), or paper(1roll) products. Every bed is next to a window, with no insulation, the house is on a busy street, you can feel (house will shake) and hear everything. The pictures are misleading. The house is not on the beach, it's on a busy highway that has two houses and apartments behind it and then you reach the beach. You have to take a small path that is sticker filled and dark to get to the beach. You don't feel safe with kids. We would lock the doors but see daylight and was able to just pull the doors open when locked. The porch lights would go on and off due to the electrical issues.

When you walk up the steps sag underneath your weight. The house was hot and some of the fans didn't work. George did bring a plug in fan which helped some. There were random holes in the floor. The place was clean. Not as close to the beach as the pictures lead on. The beach part itself was nice. Pretty secluded so not a lot of people. If it wasn't so hot the entire time we would have enjoyed our stay a lot more.

A very clean and comfortable stay with lots of space to spread out, play cards, put out a spread of food, then go walk on the quiet beach.Don’t expect marble and granite here - It’s a charming older home with creaky wood floors and cottage vibes. Beds are very comfortable. Very cool “birds nest” bedroom on the top floor. There’s tons of comfy couch seating for TV at night. We would stay here again.

Beautiful older home with quirks. Beach access is great. Home doesnt keep cool well in the bedrooms, but wasnt a deal breaker. Some picnic ants in the kitchen and the ice maker wasnt working. I let the owner know and they were VERY pleasant. Definitely WOULD RECOMMEND! Great stay. Thank you!

We had a week long stay. The house was very spacious and cozy in a quiet neighborhood. A few updates are needed but can see it is a work in progress. It is a very charming older house with a short path to the quiet beach, which has beautiful sunrises and sunsets. George and Kathleen were very friendly responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely rent here again!

Cool old house, very large - needs repairs + updates to make more functional. Enjoyed old house layout/quirks on 1st floor. Kitchen updated, functional. Only ice maker didn’t work. The 1st floor bath huge, clean, functional. Plenty of seating in LR. DR is good. 2nd floor reno chopped up in way that makes it difficult to navigate. Front 2 BRs w/Q beds are fine, but must walk through the only back BR (2 Twins) to access 2nd bathroom, area with 1 twin, and bottom of spiral staircase to attic area. 2nd floor bath (besides toilet) was not functional. Tiny sink poured water on floor when used. Shower didn’t work. Only functional lighting was set of string lights strung above window. Knob/tube switch for overhead light didn’t work or bulb burnt out. Spiral staircase to attic was sturdy, a plus. When attic used as sleeping space, must descend stairs to use bathroom at night. Not much area where you can fully stand in the attic. Cool space with window unit/baseboards for heating and cooling. Light switch for lamp is located in 2nd floor hallway. Needs near bed. Nice flooring, view of water. One crank window broken at hinge won’t close. Sm hole next to chimney allows water into attic when it rains hard. On arrival, 4-5 windows were open or not locked. Not best neighborhood to leave access when no one there. Short walk to nice beach/water area. Could not access WiFi as check-in sheet was inaccurate, but the owner provided the updated info when asked via message.
