This three bedroom row house was built in the early 1900’s, but has been fully renovated and equipped with solar power. With all modern conveniences, you can relax at home or head out the see the sights. The Metro is just a block away! A brand new Safeway is one block away. The U.S. Capitol is 14 blocks away––you can walk, jump on a bus, Uber/Lyft, or take the Metro. It also has its own garage, a rarity on Capitol Hill. Step out the door and the city awaits, and after a longday of exploring, relax in your new home-away-from-home. It is the perfect house for your city explorations!

The owner (and her partner) live in the basement of the house. Access to the downstairs living quarters is in the back yard so you may see them coming and going from time to time, but there is no direct connection between upstairs and downstairs. Nor do the downstairs residents use any of the amenities in the main house, so the rental is completely private.

You can’t beat the location of this property for a visit to Washington, DC! It was an easy walk to the metro and loads of good restaurants. The neighborhood is busy and comfortable with many families and dogs walking past.

Our family (teens and adults) enjoyed staying here as a base to explore all the sights of dc. It was in a great location- about 1.5 mile walk to the sights and so close to a grocery store! Everything we needed was here. Would recommend!

Cute home. It’s an older row house that has had some updates. Cute neighborhood and grocery store is just about a block away as well as metro. So convenient! Only complaint is that when we booked on the main page it stated there was a queen bed in the living room so of course we assume a pullout sofa. The livingroom queen bed is an air mattress which I feel was misleading so my 17yr old had to sleep on the sofa.

This property was as advertised - fabulous location for sightseeing. Metro a block away, Safeway a block away too. We are five college friends in our early 70’s and this property worked well for us. The communication with the property owner was consistently excellent, Alec is very responsive and helpful. Beds were nice and firm. Kitchen worked well for our needs. Dining room table was “board game central”!Couches in living room were comfy. As we were five adults it would have been nice to have a comfy chair opposite the couch setup for more of a conversation circle.Mostly we did a lot of sightseeing so the metro so close was just fantastic! We had a friend in DC who visited frequently so the garage was used almost daily. A real plus for us.”

Metro so handy, Safeway even handier! So nice after a long day of walking to return to a comfortable, quiet neighborhood and enjoy sitting on the patio with beverage of choice and dinner snacks. The Pretzel Bakery and Eastern Market are a must!

We were set to leave on a Friday morning, only to wake up, to a middle of the night sent text message, stating our place was no longer available. It had been rented to someone else. Worst travel experience of my life. No one was willing to make it better/fix the issue. Not until we had to get into screaming matches with VRBO and fight to passed up to hight management. Still they did no leg work or explanations to want the next steps were. The story is they double booked the house and had to give it to who ever booked it first. Well if someone booked it before us why did they so easily cash both my initial check and my final payment? NEVER AGAIN!! Avoid this and any other properties.

We had a reservation at another property that cancelled on us 24 hours before we were to arrive. Found this one on a busy week and not many options so I was concerned. I needn’t be. It was perfect for our needs. Super convenient to the Metro, grocery shopping, a restaurant marketplace (The Roost), also easy to walk to things of you like walking. We also had a special request which they kindly - and nicely - accommodated. If you drive, the garage is a big help. I would recommend to the property managers to include a sheet in their helpful notebook on how to use Roku since we weren’t familiar with it. Also to check the kitchen to replace items that were used by previous visitors.

The property was inviting, clean, and we loved the back patio. Parking was a breeze. Metro was so close and easy to navigate. Alec answered all our questions prior to visiting AND even surprised us with a Keurig when I asked if one was in the kitchen. Perfect for a multigenerational family vacation.

We had a lovely time at this Capitol Hill property. We travel as a family at least twice a year and have stayed at many homes. We have 3 daughters, 22, 20 and 17. Pros: close to metro and groceries, comfortable bedrooms, back yard a lovely hang out, quiet, eclectic and safe neighborhood.Cons: generally clean, but needs a good deep cleaning - the rugs are dirty and musty; generally well kept, but needs some attention to detail with general wear and tear- holes in walls from removed curtain ties not repaired, closet pulls falling off, closet doors not on tracks, chipped paint - just minor upkeep would make the house more appealing. It’s more worn than the photos suggest. We lived in an old Philadelphia rowhouse for a decade, we know how hard it is to keep up old homes! The only thing that I was a bit surprised at was the security - there were no dead bolts on outside doors to lock from the inside - only simple locks on doors with single pane glass and no curtains - would be very easy to break into if desired. Overall, we had a lovely time. We spent our days at museums - for us it was a place to sleep and hang out a bit before dinner out and for respite at night. It was a nice home for our family of 5 and we would recommend it for the easy access!

Very much pleased with Alec and the stay at the house. Pro tip: If you never have to contact your host during a 7-night stay to address even the most minor of issues, there's a high probability that they have met or exceeded your expectations, which was the case here. Would definitely consider staying there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed this house, which was well-outfitted, comfortable, quiet. We experience a minor issue with the heating which was corrected 100% very promptly with the kind assistance of Alec (which is why we provided a 4 out of 5 star rating...absent that issue, it's FIVE-star worthy)! We loved that this was walking- distance to grocery store, and just a mile to the Eastern Market area of WashDC. THANKS for an EXCELLENT visit!
