Camp McGu: Lakefront, 3 Boats, Pizza Oven, Gorgeous Setting!

10 out of 10! First, this place was impeccably clean. Wow! Second, it was perfectly stocked. Boats, life jackets, puzzles, games, bikes, jenga, hammocks, firewood: you want it, it is all right there organized and in perfect working order. The bedrooms are comfy. Updated bathrooms. Kitchen was well appointed and easy to use. Last but not least, this property is stunning. Everywhere you look nature is on display in her full glory. Camp McGu is the pinnacle of elegant relaxation.

Round two was deja vu all over again. Elizabeth was welcoming and responsive. The house was as we remembered it from our first stay nearly a year ago. Nothing was missing.

Beyond perfect, will definitely be back to stay again!

Camp McGu was an ideal setting for my family of 5 to enjoy a fall getaway. The home itself is stunning, clean, and comfortable. It is very tastefully decorated. We spent most of our time enjoying the many outdoor spaces. My kids (10, 14 and 17) kayaked, paddle boarded, conquered the ninja line, fished off the dock, and read in the hammocks. Short excursions to Tracey City to hike the Fiery Gizzard and to Sewanee to tour the campus and eat at Judith were also part of the immense fun we had at Camp McGu. We hope to return.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The setting was so beautiful and relaxing. We had our coffee on the dock each morning, then took the kayaks out. We also enjoyed the community pool and tennis courts. The location is perfect. The house is very clean and comfortable. We hope to be back many times in the future.

We had a great stay at Camp McGu. Stayed with four adults and four kids and had plenty of hangout space for all inside and out. The house was clean, comfortable, and was the perfect space for us to hang out and relax with just the right amount of fun things to do. We loved that there were bikes to use, hiking and waterfalls nearby, and pickleball courts. Elizabeth was very easy to communicate with. We would definitly stay again. The kitchen is fully stocked too if you like to cook.

This place was so fun for us, our 3 kids and dogs. Endless fishing time, frog catching and kayak/paddle boarding. Not only did they have everything but it was all very comfortable and nice. The inside and outside furniture was great. The house was very clean and easy to be comfortable in. They also have the perfect amount of toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning supplies and all the little extras you usually have to bring/buy. They also supply beach towels that are very nice. The host was great and responds quickly. I would recommend driving a little extra to the Walmart/kroger about 25-30 min away versus piggly wiggly.

Beautiful home on the lake with all the amenities you can imagine! The kitchen is top notch…invites collaborative cooking! A perfect spot to take a breath, leave the world behind and enjoy such careful attendance to every need! Enjoyed dinner at High Pointe as well!

Really enjoyed our stay at Camp McGu. The home is clean, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The outdoor living spaces were great for relaxing with family.We spent much of our time by the lake. The boat dock was perfect for the kids to fish from and they really enjoyed paddling the kayaks around the dock and inlet.South Cumberland State Park is a short drive away and the hiking there was great. Beautiful scenery including several waterfalls.Highly recommended!

We wanted to stay somewhere within a few hours of home where we could escape, spend time together as a family, near water and be able to take our dog. This house and property fit every need. Very clean and accommodating. We found plenty of ways to reconnect, relax and find some nearby adventures.

Camp McGu is prettier than the pictures. The host has thought of everything you need for a peaceful stay. We will definitely be returning.

So serene and private! The lakefront property is incredible with lots to do and the house is comfortable and beautifully decorated with more than you need for a comfortable stay. Already booked a return trip the day we got home!!

Couldn’t ask for a better house ! Roomy, super clean, well - kept with high end appliances, and furnishings. Wonderful outdoor seating as well as equipment for water play or exercise. Quiet, peaceful and spacious outdoor and indoor space. Close to hiking trails and great eats. Will definitely be back

This was a great house for us: five adults. It was a well appointed with games, bikes, boats and everything we needed (and more). It is a rustic cabin but had sophisticated interiors that appeared to be new or recently renovated. There was so much outdoor space and we enjoyed building a fire and sitting by the lake. The house was a little noisy, for example an upstairs guest can’t walk around without being heard downstairs. The only frustration we had was using the keypad at the entrance to the neighborhood, it was not sensitive and hard to operate (this is no reflection on the home/owner - more a neighborhood issue).

This place is amazing. We stayed here to tour Sewanee, and it is very convenient for that. The cabin and lake are very peaceful. Everything is top quality: the sheets and towels, the kitchen utensils, the shampoo and body wash, the boats. This host is not chintzy with their supplies like some rentals. It's like you are just staying at their personal home as a guest. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling in this area. We can't wait to come back.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Camp McGu! The house was everything that was advertised and more. The owners were thoughtful and proactive with communication. The home was in excellent repair and easy for us to enjoy. The kitchen was well stocked with all one needs to cook if desired. Bikes, kayaks, paddleboat and a nice dock to just sit and soak up the moment on the lake. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday weekend. The cabin is so cute and on a beautiful lot on the lake. We made fires and walked a lot. Monteagle has some great restaurants as well. We enjoyed Pears and High Point! The cabin was spotless and very comfortable. I definitely recommend it! I will be back!

We stayed for an early Christmas celebration with the family. Everything was supplied that we could have thought of from A to Z right down to fire starters for the fireplace. Hosts are extremely responsive to any questions we had regarding the area and property. Pictures do not do this property justice it’s simple gorgeous and immaculate. We will definitely stay again!

We visited Sewanee with my twin boys and one of their friends. Our place was perfect. Our host was gracious and very pleasant. There are bass in the lake and plenty of wood for the fireplace. We would love to stay again.

We loved everything about Camp McGu!! Everything was immaculate and in perfect condition. The surroundings are gorgeous and the dock and water area so enjoyable. The cabin is very well appointed! It is updated and impeccable but still has a rustic charm. We definitely hope to return!

We had an amazing stay! The property was clean, beautifully decorated, and exactly as described. The beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed to cook in the well-equipped kitchen. The location was unbeatable, just steps from the lake and all the outdoor amenities you could ask for. I highly recommend this home for families or couples looking for a peaceful getaway. Our family had the best time at this house! It is so well done, clean, and well stocked. They have awesome activities for all ages! We kayaked everyday, rode bikes, hiked, sat by the outdoor fireplace and loved every minute. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Mcgu The house was nestled on 5 acres of trees and never got the feeling anyone was nearby. It was so quiet and peaceful. It had all the amenities that we needed. I think we sat on every porch there was, depending on what we were doing. Would definitely go back, Elizabeth was very responsive with any questions we had.
