Butler's Landing

Step into this beautifully preserved historic cottage, ideally situated in the vibrant downtown of Saugatuck. With its exceptional, walkable location, an easy and flat stroll brings you to shops, restaurants, art galleries, parks, and the waterfront boardwalk. Being just far enough from the center of town to feel peaceful, yet close enough to walk everywhere, makes Butler's Landing an ideal spot to experience all that Saugatuck has to offer without relying on a car.>
Inside, you'll find a cozy, welcoming living space filled with vintage charm and character. The home's historic details and warm décor create a comfortable, homey atmosphere that feels relaxed and inviting. Upstairs are two bedrooms designed for rest and retreat, each offering a quiet place to unwind at the end of the day.

On the main level, the living room features a comfortable sofa sleeper and flat-screen TV, making it a great place to gather after a day exploring town or the nearby beaches. The bright sunroom, with a daybed and trundle, is a favorite space for reading, napping, or simply enjoying the natural light. Sliding doors lead to the screened porch, one of the most-loved features of the home. This space is perfect for morning coffee, board games, shared meals, or lingering conversations, rain or shine.

The private hot tub on the back patio offers a relaxing retreat year-round, whether warming up after a cool-weather walk through town or unwinding after a summer beach day. The fenced-in yard, shared with the neighboring Grey Cottage, provides additional outdoor space to relax and enjoy the fresh air, while the bench swing invites slow, easy moments throughout the day.

From the front door, it's a short walk to Saugatuck's diverse dining options, charming boutiques, live entertainment, and scenic waterfront. Enjoy leisurely walks along the boardwalk, boat rides on the river, or quick drives to nearby Lake Michigan waterfronts like Oval Beach. Whether the day calls for activity or relaxation, Butler's Landing offers a rare blend of location, comfort, outdoor living, and timeless charm.

Come experience all the beauty and excitement that Saugatuck has to offer, with a home that feels both comfortably familiar and perfectly placed, just steps from everything that makes this lakeside town so special.

Please Note:
- The backyard and BBQ grill are shared with Grey Cottage, which is just next door. Grey Cottage guests do not have access to the hot tub or any amenities other than the grill.
- Due to the age of the home, occasional ants, spiders, and other household pest may find their way indoors. Routine pest control services are in place to ensure the comfort of our guests, but on occasion, a curious critter may make its way inside, especially if doors are left open. If you notice any evidence of pests indoors, please notify our office promptly so we can address the situation.
- This is an original historic cottage with minimal updates, but the location in downtown Saugatuck cannot be beaten.
- There is central air conditioning throughout. The small bedroom does not have a vent, so a window AC unit is installed during the summer months.

This was a great place to stay near town.

The location was great and the photos were accurate. However, it was not clean. The shower stall had mold around the grout and bottom of the shower walls, as well as on the ceiling. It was clear no one had dusted under the furniture, as we found out when we moved the coffee table to find a dog toy. The house is old and we didn't mind that, but it had a distinct odor of mildew. There were two automatic air fresheners that only made it worse; we took those outside. The yard is shared, which we planned on by keeping our dog on a leash, but I was not happy to look out the kitchen window to see a man with his dog running free in the yard. We called the rental company and were informed that it was the owner. I am unclear why the owner did not know there were guests in his rental. He did collect his dog and leave the yard.On the positive side, we loved the screened-in sun porch, character of the house, and the location was perfect. A block away from SaugaTaco!

We have been friends since college days - 55 years and gather from far and wide a few times a year. It was a perfect location for us but the sleeping arrangements were challenging as 3 of the 6 could not navigate the stairs. The house has such potential but sure could use some paint inside as walls were peeling and flooring a safety concern for us. All in all it was a good value.

This was a perfect property for our stay. We loved how it was so central to everything. The family really enjoyed the hot tub. The house is very old, so floors are uneven, especially upstairs- so anyone with mobility issues might want to avoid. staying here. However, we loved the character and history of the house!

This is a classic old school Michigan house in a great location. The screened in porch and hot tub make this a superb choice for a little rest & recharge. The friendly checkin was a great start tto a fantastic stay.

This property has a GREAT location with plenty of things to do very close. The only issue we had was using the hair dryer at any outlet upstairs (bathroom or bedrooms). We ended up having to use it in the kitchen - otherwise it was triggering the electricity to go out. Property management was very responsive on a couple of issues / questions during our stay.

Fun hot tub, walkable to downtown. Winter visit which is the best time to have the town to yourself! Cozy home. Really a two bedroom- a good sized queen bed in one spacious bedroom and a double bed tucked under the roof for the other bedroom. Comfy day bed off the living room next to bathroom & kitchen so not private but great for kids. Well stocked kitchen.

The location was ideal in Saugatuck to shopping and restaurants. Overall condition of house was fine and suited our purposes but the lack of updated cable service to watch something on the USA network (British Open golf) was frustrating.
