Originally constructed in 1920, this beautiful beach retreat is now on the List of Historic Places on Tybee Island. Splash into a brand-new, sparkling 16' x 38' pool that guarantees endless fun in the sun. The home has been lovingly refurbished with modern details and beautiful coastal accents, located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is great for walking and bike riding. The original raised Tybee Cottage places the main living level on the 2nd floor. Enter the home through the spacious screened porch, which wraps around two sides of the house and includes a dining table with seating for eight people. The main floor consists of two bedrooms and a fully renovated kitchen which features all new appliances and beautiful cabinetry, ready to prepare your favorite meals, complete with a center prep island and a bonus beverage/wine fridge. The wrap-around screen porch will be your favorite spot to enjoy the Tybee breeze all year. There is a convenient washer and dryer and wash sink on the back side of the porch.

The living area includes a sleeper sofa and a flat-screen TV—the two bedrooms on this level share one full bathroom and one-half bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a king-sized bed, and Bedroom 2 is furnished with two Queen Beds and a TV.

Below the cottage, you will find the remaining two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms on the ground level. As typical in this era of construction, these living quarters are detached with no interior connecting stairs. The first bedroom on the ground level has a Queen size bed and a TV. The second bedroom is furnished with two full beds and has a connected half bathroom. In the covered patio area, guests will enjoy a Ping-Pong table, corn hole boards, a table for 6, and an outdoor seating area with a large flat-screen TV. It is a great space to hang out and relax. It even has a vintage-inspired refrigerator and microwave. Located just outside are a charcoal grill and an outdoor shower. Also found in this space is a half bath.

It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is great for walking and bike riding! Enjoy a convenient location without all the summertime congestion. Just four blocks from the Back River Beach, seven blocks to the main beach. Off-Street Parking for 5 cars (2 vehicles on either side of grassy area, 1 across the street).

    There were a lot of good things about this location: the house on the inside was stunning. It was charming, clean, and had the perfect amount of space to spread out. The screened in, wrap around porch was absolutely wonderful to wake up and drink coffee on/sit outside during a storm and read on. The physical location of the house is wonderful. Super short walk to the beach, amazing little pool in the backyard. A few things to consider before booking- the neighbor is grouchy and yelled at my group within the first two hours of being there. We had a hibachi chef come and cook for us in the backyard. As you can assuming that comes with a certain level of noise, however it was nothing out of control (and it was 7:00 PM). He yelled over the fence that we were being disrespectful of the people that lived there and that ‘this isn’t an amusement park’. Just a little hard to enjoy our time after that being worried that every noise is going to get us yelled at/reported.The only other negative thing for my group was that we had enough people that we needed to use the rooms that were downstairs, off of the pool. Compared to the rooms upstairs they feel a little bit dungeon-y, but we all agreed that we got the best sleep of our lives down there (it was cold AND dark, the perfect combo). The downside is that you have to walk outside and around the house to access these rooms. There isn’t a way to get to them without going outside, which does make them feel a little secluded.

    The main issue with our stay was the property management company, Tybee Vacation Rentals. From day one, I called multiple times about problems with the house, including a refrigerator that didn’t cool or make ice, an overflowing pool with a broken skimmer net, a flooded downstairs rec area, and no propane for the grill. The list of issues seemed endless.Instead of receiving actual phone calls, I got text message responses. No one ever followed up directly. I even visited the property management office the day before checkout, and the receptionist assured me I’d receive a phone call in the coming days. As I write this over two weeks later—I’m still waiting.Although the home’s description mentions the downstairs bedrooms, I found it misleading. Both rooms had a strong smell of mold and mildew, were extremely small, and had low ceilings, uncomfortable for anyone over 6 feet tall. Dehumidifiers are needed.We did enjoy the location and the porches, but unfortunately, that was about it. I imagine the homeowners would be disappointed with how their property is being managed. Overall, I would not recommend this home and would not stay here again. It’s a shame, because the house has the potential to be so much more.

    Unfortunately, the management company was terrible and did not prepare for our arrival, even though they took our money to heat the pool and knew that it would be a big part of our choosing this location. The house is an odd set up. We loved the two bedroom one bath main house, lots of character and very comfortable. Loved the porches as well. The lower level that contain the two bedrooms and one bath were odd and creepy, and it didn’t help that there were acorns everywhere so no one could walk, barefoot or without crunching on them again the management company knew we were prepared. There was plenty of time. The management company admitted they had changed their process and the main coordinator for the house did not do what we asked, and there was no urgency to make it right We could have chosen many other properties for half the price, but we chose this one for the pool, but we could not enjoy it in the bedroom disconnected from the house or not adequate. If you’re traveling with a dog, the fence does not clothes and is not attached to the back stairs to get into the fence.

    Most of my disappointment is related to the state of the actual surrounding area. I walked my family to the beach at sunset one day and when we were walking back to the house, I stepped on a used needle in the road. There were also beer cans and trash along the road, not what we expected at all. The downstairs area also felt too exposed, especially after the issues with the surrounding areas. I had to lock myself and my kids in the bedrooms at night. The rooms downstairs also felt like a basement without windows and concrete floors. Just not what we expected at all.
