Wimberley, Texas
Bungalow on the Bluff in the Heart of the Hill Country
Start your next adventure at The Bungalow on the Bluff, our picturesque 2-bedroom home nestled on the bluffs of the Blanco River. This slice of heaven is central to many of the adventures found in the Texas Hill Country. Perfect for family fun, couples’ retreats, visits to wineries, restaurants and shopping and other activities for up to 4 guests!
Located on 5 acres of the gorgeous hillside, you’ll have plenty of space for sprawling out and enjoying the fresh country air in privacy. Get ready to take in clear night skies full of brilliant constellations from the back-patio or enjoy a glass of wine by the fire. Enjoy wide open spaces to allow your dogs* to run and play or watch the deer in the morning over a cup of coffee.
The Bungalow on the Bluff is fully equipped to be your home-away-from-home. The newly remodeled kitchen is fully furnished with everything you will need and of course, all you need for coffee each morning! Enjoy your meals together at the breakfast table or take it to the back patio for an epic barbecue.
After hiking the riverbed or returning from shopping in Wimberley, decamp to the family room for a movie night. This comfy space includes a flatscreen TV with streaming access via WiFi. (A note about WiFi: because our area has only rural internet, it can be limiting when using multiple devices. After all, we are in the Texas Hill Country!). If it strikes a chord, grab a guitar off the wall and play your favorite song around the gorgeous stone fireplace.
Relax at the sitting area on the bluff and take in the views and wildlife or grab the basketball and head out to the court for a game. This unique property has trails to hike that lead directly to the river. The Blanco River at this section flows underground but don’t worry, there is rock and arrowhead hunting which will entertain for hours.
Bedrooms include a master with a king bed and another queen bed in the second room. There is an additional flat screen television in the second bedroom so no one has to limit their entertainment options.
While the Bungalow on the Bluff feels just the right amount of secluded, you’re still only 10 minutes away from the town of Wimberley. The city of Blanco is only a 20-minute drive and part of the Texas Wine Trail. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous there are several state parks within an hour drive time for fishing, swimming, horseback riding or hiking.
Wimberley also has plenty of options for dining, bar-hopping, and quaint coffee shops—it really is the quintessential hill country town. And the Bungalow on the Bluff is the ideal home base for exploring the vast beauty of this special place! We hope to see you soon.

I appreciated somewhat remote nature of the cabin. I love the fact that it is on the river. During my visit, the riverbed was dry. I actually enjoyed wandering both ways, up and down the drive river bed for a couple of miles. It was just what I needed. The house itself is a remodeled simple house. It has some nice upgrades, but it is still a basic cabin. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was strong, and there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen is small and would not work well for cooking a large meal. However, basic breakfast, and other meals were easy to prepare. There is no dining table for face-to-face meals, if it’s important that you have family time together. The slab slants slightly in the kitchen so the stove leans forward. If you want to bake a cake, it will not come out level. The bathroom is small but clean and adequate. Hot tub is away from the home towards the River bank. It functioned partially during the visit — the jets worked, but the water never got hot. There are deer everywhere. You see them morning and night.
We loved the bungalow. It was very clean and comfortable. We loved the spot out by the bluff with fire pit and hot tub. It was quiet and the sunsets were gorgeous. We would have given it 5 stars but we couldn't get the wifi to work and we missed the Astros game that we wanted to watch.
My son and I stayed here to sing some songs and do some catching up. It was a wonderful stay, everything was perfect. Thank you to the hosts for letting us make some memories there!!
Nice property. Front door very difficult to unlock and enter from outside. When we arrived at 9 p.m., had to leave property and go back to highway to get cell service so we could call for assistance. Instructions for unlocking were not complete and door sticks badly every time it is opened from the outside.
The house and property were fantastic. Loved the view, back porch, record player, and nature. We would definitely book again.
This place is off of a winding country road and that’s exactly what I wanted. We had deer running across the backyard into the dry riverbed. Hummingbirds flying around and feeding was pretty cool too. I was a little disappointed that the hot tub wasn’t working, but I wasn’t going to let that stop my good time. The shower was a little awkward too, but again I wasn’t there for the shower. I hated leaving, but enjoyed my stay.
Bungalow on the Bluff was a perfect location for our weekend getaway with friends. The landscape was perfect overlooking the dry creek bed, had fun playing basketball and using the gas fire pit in the back. The beds were comfy and had plenty of towels and amenities in the kitchen to make breakfast and a nice steak dinner on the grill out back. The owner was also gracious to recommend fun places to try in town. The lock on the front door was a little tricky but we got the hang of it! Definitely a place to come back to!
We had a great time with our dogs here! They provided a dog bed and a outdoor leash which made us feel like our fur babies were welcome as well. The property was great and a perfect secluded getaway while still close to the square.
