Budget Friendly Island Beach House/60 Second Walk to 4 Miles of Awesome Beaches

Everything about our stay at WINTERHAVEN was wonderful!

The inside of the house was pretty clean except for the bedroom with the three twin beds or should I say two twin beds and trundle bed. We had to move the dresser to even pull out the trundle bed and it was filthy behind the dresser we had to get the vacuum cleaner out and vacuum before we could even pull the bed out. Which it should have been pulled out before we even arrive there because they knew that we had two children with us and four adults so therefore we were gonna need three beds in that one bedroom. It was very hard to get the trundle bed out. it was very hard to get the shower and water turned on in the bathtub and once you got it on, it was very hard to get it turned off needs a new faucet on the bathroom. The furniture was not comfortable to sit or lay on my husband, had to sleep on the couch upstairs to have enough room and it was very uncomfortable. The outside look like a jungle, the palm tree hit the top of the golf cart every time we came in needed to be graded because the sand was so thick trying to get in the driveway. The grill was horrible. The house needs updating the towels and wash cloths were dingy, and some of them were torn and had holes in them. The beach chairs some of them were all rusted out. We were even afraid to sit in them afraid we would fall on the ground. It definitely wasn’t like the picture that we saw online , far from it. We would like to thank the owner for allowing us to arrive early and to leave late. Property manager was great.

This house has a perfect location: steps from Sunset Beach and all N Captiva is known for. Allen is an excellent and very attentive host. He helped us navigate the (now, admittedly modest) complexities of getting to the Island and getting situated. The location is very quiet in all the best ways. This was an ideal “getaway” location! Access to the Safety Harbor Club amenities was a huge bonus. Plus tons a key amenities at The Winterhaven (filtered water, nice golf cart, bikes, cooking basics).

We traveled with our granddaughter and my husband’s mother. Use of the golf cart, access to the pool and a perfect location just steps to the beach all added up to a wonderful first time on the island. Great communication with the owner and on-island management was terrific.

Overall, we absolutely loved it here! We even stayed an extra night. Allen's home is an incredibly short walk to the beach, even our 3 year old made the walk multiple times per day. The home itself is simple but comfortable. Our biggest concern was that the spindles of the upper floor balcony, staircase, and decks were spaced pretty far apart so that our 1 year old could squeeze between them. We created barriers using the counter stools and other furniture, so we did not have to be constantly vigilant for her safety. The house (and entire island) had no corkscrews to open a bottle of wine, so plan accordingly! The wifi is slow as advertised, which made our (unfortunately) necessary work obligations challenging, but we were able to use the hotspots on our phones to get our work completed. Totally realize that it would be even better to have the luxury of being completely unplugged, but that was not our reality. We would definitely come back - absolutely cannot beat the location! The island is very family friendly, and we made so many great family memories!

We had a short visit but very relaxing- house was perfect for our needs. Great location, clean, good communication with host. Will definitely rebook!

Our family had a fantastic time staying here. Other than some dirty dishes and issues with the electric golf cart, we enjoyed all of our time. The property owner was very quick to respond to inquiries and the property was in good condition relative to the price to stay there. Access to the Safety Harbor Club ameneties provide a much calmer experience with far fewer people compared to the Island Club pool, and you can always head to Mangos for a drink or bite to eat. The property itself is within easy walking distance to the beach and nature trail. The house is also setup perfectly for a family of four. We used Island Girl Charters and Fresh Pick food delivery service, with zero issues.

Highly recommended. Lovely beach home just a few steps from one of the best beaches in Southwest Florida. Guest services were spot on, and the host is instantly available for any questions. North Captiva is a magical and beautiful place. If you have a chance to come to Southwest Florida don’t miss this great home and glorious location.
