Stayed Apr 3, 2026Stayed here for three nights with 4 others. The grounds and the home itself are more worn down than the photos online portray. While quaint and fascinating in some respects, it is an old, historical home in need of renovations and more upkeep. We took issue with all the bugs in the house, the cleanliness (my aunt had to re-wash her bedding because it looked like someone had slept in it and the coffee maker was dirty inside, for example), and the lack of AC. The second and third floors have split AC units and they did not work well. The owner gave us instructions to troubleshoot, which involved resetting the breaker, but we felt they should have offered to come help us. Please note that as of April 2026, they are building a tasting room next door (this is now listed in the posting). The first evening of our visit, the construction workers were there working on the roof until 8:30pm. Apart from some noise, there are no window dressings on the second and third floor bathrooms, we were hesitant to shower. To their credit, the owner did remedy this on day 2 and we didn’t have any further issues. Generally speaking, the owner was good at communicating and took our concerns seriously, though I personally wouldn't stay here again. If you like a more rustic feel, then you’ll probably really enjoy this.

Stayed Mar 26, 2026The property is in a beautiful setting and is a unique historical home. The bathrooms need upgrading and the entire house needs a deep cleaning as well as more attention to detail regarding decor- lots of mismatched furniture and random decorative items. We had to pay extra to have 10 people ( even though the listing states it sleeps that many), however, one of the showers was not operable and although the property manager was responsive when we reported it there was no compensation offered.Would definitely return to the area but not to this property unless improvements are made.

Stayed Nov 9, 2025Beautiful location, lovely house and kitchen, plenty of space. Would have appreciated a print out of the house and area information so everyone could easily review it and the lack of supplied firewood was a surprise to everyone.Nice hikes and parks nearby, a day at Harper's Ferry Park was really nice, thanks to the Governor of West Virginia the Welcome Center was staffed and so helpful.

Stayed Jul 28, 2025Check in was smooth. Rooms were adequate. Kitchen not truely conducive to cooking a lot of meals . Drawers disorganized and hard to fine correct cooking utensils. Pool was nice with towels and float included. One bedrooms HVAC made noise constantly. Wraps were finding a way in. But overall we enjoyed the location.

Stayed Jul 26, 2024We had a fantastic stay at the property. The home is very charming and the pool is great. The location was also really nice. Close to wineries and hiking. Two points of feedback are that the dishes were visibly dirty upon arrival and all of the mattresses need to be replaced. Everyone in the group slept poorly and noted that the mattresses were uncomfortable. The master bedroom should likely also have a larger bed.

Stayed Feb 23, 2024The location was great and the property manager was very good. Unfortunately it was in February and it was 25 degrees outside. The house was very cold, and there were alot of bugs looking for warmth as well. Perhaps during the summer with the ability to use the pool, would make our experience better. I would give it another try!

Stayed Sep 17, 2023This house is amazing as is the property. We were very comfortable here. Very peaceful. My only issue was the $$$ cleaning fee. The pots had to be washed due to cob webs. We had to strip the beds and pile the towels, take all the garbage out to the cans and load the dishwasher. What exactly does the $ fee cover?

Stayed Aug 7, 2023Amazing setting, great pond for fishing, beautiful pool. Does not have a gas grill or outdoor grilling area. Lovely fire pit area, but you will need to bring your own wood. Kitchen is nicely appointed, but could use a Keurig. Plenty of room for a large family or families. I would recommend.

Stayed Jul 6, 2023This house was very nice. I reported that the cleaners did not do a very good job of cleaning. The coffee pot was filthy and the glass on the doors was also dirty. The rental company offered to have the cleaners come back to take care of those things but I told them I would handle it. The AC on the1st floor worked well. The inverter AC's worked very well in the bedrooms on the second floor but the 3rd floor was a different story. Both of those inverters blew hot air. There was a window unit in the bedroom that kept the room a comfortable temperature. The rental company was quick to respond to me with any questions or concerns. All in all I would rent the house again.
